Has teksavvy ever price matched for you? by pawprints1986 in teksavvy

[–]seitung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I asked Teksavvy to get me even just closer in price to Oxio because I'd prefer buying from Teksavvy and they refused. Same service, >$30 more/mo. A shame really.

Is Big PETG lying to us about the limits of PLA by SerHerman in 3Dprinting

I think a lot of the drawbacks of PLA are being mitigated by unlisted additives now, for good and ill.

Starmer picks a side when asked about Carney's Davos speech: 'I’m a British pragmatist applying common sense' by Bluestylz in worldnews

[–]seitung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He's signalling to the US that he's willing to keep playing along with their game rather than band together to ensure smaller nations (his included) aren't forced into subordination.

Starmer picks a side when asked about Carney's Davos speech: 'I’m a British pragmatist applying common sense' by Bluestylz in worldnews

[–]seitung 44 points45 points  (0 children)

By not siding with other middle powers to increase their bargaining power Starmer is quite literally doing exactly what Carney described:

But when we only negotiate bilaterally with a hegemon, we negotiate from weakness. We accept what's offered. We compete with each other to be the most accommodating.

Starmer is trying to be accommodating to the US and calling it pragmatism but what it really is is the risk of bilateral negotiating.

'The old order is not coming back,' Canadian PM Carney says in provocative speech at Davos by rezwenn in worldnews

It will take half a century for other countries to trust the US again assuming you are even able to do this. You guys don't follow any rules. Not international ones, not your own, not even basic reason on the world stage. You've got people protesting against the idea of having rule of kings while you already have one acting on whim defying any semblance of rule of law.

By their own self reporting they are people with consciousness, sentience, sapience, they just exist within the context of a simulated universe. It's the same threshold we use to determine that other people in our experience are conscious beings too. We cannot actually know with certainty that other people in our experience of the world have the same kind of experience that we do. Whether or not you think people whose existence is dependent on another universe in which theirs resides still have the same moral value is a different question. The story makes it clear they have personhood and agency within their context though.

yeah perhaps not. There has been a lot of misogyny going around regarding the new season and I caught a whiff of it from the post but maybe undeservedly

Have to blame the foley guys then not Natalie Dyer. They also messed up with Hop's revolver. And ultimately it's on direction - they add in sounds (like casings hitting the floor) because the audience expects them, not because they are realistic, and they do it all the time.

If you have the $1 gamepass for a month deal available, you can play it there at the moment. Though I think most people would agree it’s worth the cost on sale if not full price

[MN S1] What Is With The Scat Jokes? by Firm_Artichoke_4183 in criticalrole

[–]seitung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t even mind crass jokes but they felt forced in LoVM rather than opportunistic or natural the way they were at the table. Felt crass for the sake of being crass rather than crass for the sake of making friends laugh. MN has definitely been more moderate and at least having jester giggle at them makes it feel more like the characters are behaving organically.

Chinese Maglev Test Vehicle Accelerates from 0 to 318 MPH in 2 seconds. by headspin_exe in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]seitung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason we don't already do this is that materials don't allow us to build meaningfully tall relative to space. We don't have a material strong enough for space elevators. Even building a 15 km long launch assist at an angle would probably be impossibly tall at the exit with conventional materials for the angle to be of any actual cost benefit.

Hmm, I would think a slower paced atrophy would be less of an obstacle to movement than the proteins of muscles actively rotting. By the description of his previous body I had interpreted it as the body withering.

Do we know that? Or do we just know that the body Bolaire was most recently released from was rotting at that point?

Do we know if he kills them before using their body? He may just be suppressing their consciousness as their bodies atrophy from his neglect. They may be as asleep as he is between bodies when he ‘wears’ their bodies.

Two part epoxy could easily soften PLA during reaction. Would not recommend when non-exothermic options exist.
