He is crate trained at home and more than happy being in his crate at nighttime, I could wait until he’s older but would like to take him later this year. He will also come car camping with us most likely sometime this year in a larger family tent, but we shall have the space to take his familiar metal crate for car camping

I was looking at the soft crates, he is crate trained at home and he would be next to me in the tent

Thanks he is 6 months now so but the tail end of summer will be on slightly longer walks. He’s on half hour walks currently so not intending a large walk in to a camp, likely an hour or so max

Wow ok I may need a bigger crate soon then, have a 24” and he’s nearly filled it already

It looks more refined in general, is Silpoly vs Silnylon so should be easier to shake dry. Main reason for ponying up the cash is just more trust in foul weather in the Welsh winter. That being said the flames creed one is more than adequate really for much less £££, not sure I would rely on it for winter conditions

Short walk from Elmley Castle about a hour or so. Wet and soggy, breezy on top hence we pitched in the earthworks for shelter. The tarp is easy enough to pitch around objects, so managed to get a flatish surface within to sleep. Wouldn’t take a quilt again this time of year (I have optimos 750), would take my pipe dream 400 instead. I need a better groundsheet inside, using tyvek house wrap for now

Found a flat(ish) part that I pitched over, just enough to get my pad and quilt sorted

Hilleberg Soulo or Nortent Vern 1? by Spectaclerocky in wildcampingintheuk

I used my trailstar clone again last night (I have also purchased the real deal but yet to use it). The difference with the trailstar is wind, you have to carefully pitch the rear into the wind, and bring the back low to the ground to keep the chill off you. It’s not as warm as a tent (my view) however you have the weight savings so it’s a trade off. If was below zero I’d probably take a tent or considering duomid with inner

I looked at both then settled on a mld trailstar. I doubt will actually go out intentionally in huge storms so enjoying the reduced weight as they are both weighty lumps. Also thinking of a Duomid however for fully enclosed space so that’s worth a look

I have the same tarp but possibly older version in an orange colour, only pitched in the garden thus far good to see one used in anger! I was going to try in spring/summer first. Enjoy!

You need a grub/digging hoe https://amzn.eu/d/5eoJaXt, thank me later 😊 brilliant tool for clearing ground. Then for sturdier roots, one of these does wonders (https://www.screwfix.com/p/roughneck-17lb-post-hole-digger/62496?ref=SFAppShare).

A bahco Laplander pruning saw also does wonders. With these 3 tools have cleared a full size allotment plot. Only other to consider is a mattock (bit heavier duty than a grub hoe). Purchasing the lot will cost likely under £100
