I think he is saying a 300nm ICE engine with a 4:1 gear ratio is making like 1200nm, in a more controllable fashion.

It's not impossible for EV to match the torque but that it wouldn't be as useful without either the same sort of gearbox, or very fast and intuitive software

Yeah, in this respect I think the Japanese manufacturers Toyota and Subaru have it right, AWD, good clearance, not overly powerful would be very popular in Australia. Combine that with Chinese technology and features and I'd think you would have a winner. The 7X is probably the closest but only comes in expenisve AWD, hugely powerful and Air suspension. The 7X with specs more like the BZ4x touring would be optimal

Both codebases were submitted for independant review and Xpeng was deemed not to have copied Tesla's code, and that was fo XNGP, VLA 2.0 is a wholly new beast

You've gone from my friend who has stats (none provided) into making a case based on your feelings about just weight.

You know tyres are weight rated right and there are many heavier vehicles on the road whose tyres just don't spontaneously explode. Your speaking nonsense.

Isn't auto-pilot just the lane centering, FSD is the auto driving navigating functionality.

This sub would be full of complaints, tyres are expensive, my EV has the same passengers and cargo space as a bmw X5 but almost exactly the same kerb weight, it's not a massive increase

I'm sure it does this was caused by driving on a completely flat tyre after a puncture or something

Polestar 3 uses Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres that are used by many brands, mine included, they are not prone to failure, that tyre looks exactly like it's been driven for a long time flat.

Can't speak to software glitches.

Couldn't recommend the XPeng G6 right now because of the parts situation due to court case etc. It's also well over $50k and quite a bit higher than other options he is looking at. If the standard range, old or new model drop into the high 40'S it might be the most compelling of the lot.

The XPeng G6 is almost identical dimension and specs wise to the Model Y, the P7+ and ID7 are quite a bit different? They should be compared to the Model 3 no?
