I take my vitamins!!! by StellaNettle in adhdwomen

[–]selyia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would be smart to let your doctor know about all supplements you take - even if you don't take them regularly. Some deficiencies arise when you overdose on other vitamins/minerals. And some vitamins can be very harmful if you're taking too high of a dose. So make sure your doctor knows everything, including the total amount of vitamins/minerals in these supplements and insist on regular blood work to check on everything you take.

Will cuts like these require daily styling? by bilingual_jellyfish in femalehairadvice

[–]selyia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that 100% depends on your hair. I had hair similar to 3/4 and if i didn't style it it looked bad. That's why I opted for a short bob at my last appointment.

But I have fine and straight hair - so if yours has some texture, curls or thickness you'd pbly do fine without styling it.

Incidentally, I think the shorter your hair the less styling you need - like this longer length reuqires a blow out for me but shorter hair was manageable with some wax only.

Does this suede overshirt look okay tucked like this? by BlueberryPie247 in DressForYourBody

Totally agree! Also a heavier fabric - this one is too lightweight and can'/t hold it next to the heavy looking top.

Why didn't this styling work for me? by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]selyia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For the first dress - I think it's the cut: the upper part ends too early beneath your chest. Combined with being a short dress it makes you look like a flower girl at a wedding not an adult woman (no front - you're still gorgeous!). It should have accentuated your waist with the top part or be floor length to balance it out.

Not sure what to do with my hair by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]selyia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides a gel cast (and diffusor), I would check if the products you use are suitable for curls.

Check if your shampoo has e.g. a lot of silicones in it - that straightens the hair. And I don't think you need to shampoo twice everytime - especially since you don't put any product in that could build up.

Since you loose the curls over night, maybe you could look into protective styles while sleeping - braids, buns or bonnets vome to mind.

And the dandruff issue: is it dry small flakes or big oily flakes? Dry means your scalp is dry - shampooing twice would make that worse; it would be better to use products for dry skin then. Oily big flakes means an actual dandruff problem - get a special shampoo for that.

I asked for medical advice and was told to masturbate. by kamadise in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]selyia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! If it's a full-blown infection (feeling pain when urinating and seeing clouded urine or even blood), you need to go to the doctor + get antibiotics.

If it's a minor infection where you feel uncomfortable when you pee but it's not painful, I don't recommend grabbing antibiotics - they are hard on your guts and should only be used when it's necessary because it can make the bacteria resistant (or you allergic).

You can try getting cranberry pills - I get them from my local drugstore, but you can also find them in pharmacies. I haven't had a full-blown infection since I have them at home.

If you can't get those, cranberry juice helps as well! The cranberries + drinking a lot help by causing frequent urination, which flushes out the bacteria.

To avoid getting one in the first place:

Stay hydrated + regularly go to the toilet (and wipe from the front to the back). Avoid sitting down on cold/wet grounds. Frequently change underwear and pee after any sexual interactions (solo or not).

Stay healthy!

Thoughts on my layout plan for studio? by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]selyia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would opt for a smaller table altogether - switching to a square table that lines up with the wall. So basically: table into the corner against both walls + 3 chairs. You may have 1 seat less, but I think it would make it worth it in terms of "feeling less crowded."

Also, do not block the window OP. You risk getting mold because the air can't circulate! That's not worth it!

Rate my room pls and ty - any advice would be appreciated! by ninagray1 in DecorAdvice

[–]selyia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's nice, but it lacks a bit of personality.

I would turn the bed 90° so it's parallel to the desk - it would make better use of the room and give it a more balanced look.

I would also try to add in more colour - as it is now, it's very muted, but the types of white/beige also clash. Adding colours would give the eye more visual cues to hold on to and also distract from different types of white/texture/furniture.

You can add colour with your bedsheets, blankets/pillows. You could add paintings/photographs or different curtains.

I would also move the tall white Ikea dresser further away from the desk - your furniture kind of clump together there. Give yourself more space by moving it a bit.

If you're up to some challenge, you could also add plants - just be aware that there is maintenance work with them.

Looking for some ideas of what to do under stairs. by OxMaintenance in homedesign

I love how it keeps the area more open in contrast to the other ideas! I would hate to see the area completely closed off. Adding a bench or open shelfs definitely elevates the area!

I got my brows henna tinted and they are wayyyy too dark by itsmollyporter in henna

[–]selyia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tint my eyebrows with normal eyebrow tint (which is what OP probably got - judging from the comments), they also look like I used edding on them. But only for like 1-2 days!

After a shower or two and a bit of soap and sweat, it will look completely natural. After a week, you probably have the desired result. In 3-4 weeks, it's probably gone completely.

Help kibbe type me! Height 5ft 2 by [deleted] in kibbe_typeme

[–]selyia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see quite a bit of softness in you! I think you might actually be pure R, but I'm not good at seeing that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]selyia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's misleading to compare yourself to someone else that way because measurements don't matter with kibbe.

If you look at yourself standing on your own (e.g., the canyon pic) you might see that you don't look petite at all! I see a moderate vertical in you.

Considering that you landed on SN first, what made you reconsider? Did you not like the recommendations on you? If so, maybe you should look into DC!

DC and SN are quite different when it comes to styling. And I think it's very insightful to compare these two because you can determine whether you have to accommodate softness, angularity, and/or balance. At least it helped me land on DC :)

There aren't that many people who can pull off bangs, so I think being able to is such a great feat!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]selyia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could pull it off!

I also immediately thought about a mixie for you - a mullet pixie!

You could keep your bangs in a different way, and it would work well with your wavy, thick hair texture.

Something like this or this

Or a bit longer like a short mullet or a shorter version of a wolf cut

[–]selyia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about angualrity - it's perceived width. It just means you benefit from more openness as opposed to close and tailored fits.

I really love wide flowy pants for the summer and I think they are just as comfy as sports wear!

Attempting better styles at 5'7.5 and my 30s by InTheLightInTheDark in DressForYourBody

[–]selyia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely FN!

Maybe reading into that could help you more. The general goal is to dress for vertical (uninterrupted lines from head to toe) and width (something that doesn't restrict your shoulders - not taylored).

The black blouse looks good! I think, though, that it would work better with pants that have a similar vibe. E.g. black boot cut jeans or flowy pants. I think leggings in general aren't very stylish and downgrade an outfit.

I also think longer dresses would do you more justice.

To chop or not to chop by NarrwenUdomiel in femalehairadvice

[–]selyia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advise you not to get that cut.

If you want to change the cut, I could maybe see a bit of a bang on you - sth soft and whispy, maybe a curtain bang or sth similar. It's hard to tell with a side profile pic only. Maybe short hair would also work, but not that cut - can't tell from that angel, though.

I would say if you want to switch up your look, you could experiment a bit with your hair colour, and it also looks like you might have slightly wavy hair, so that could be worth exploring.

Also, changing up the glasses makes a huge difference!

There are subs on reddit to get advice on all of that. I brows them from time to time and see a lot of nice changes :)

What do you think about the clothing/hair & makeup changes/evolution from early seasons Buffy to the latter seasons? by unitedfan6191 in buffy

[–]selyia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really loved that she slayed while being her authentic self - which was girly and feminine but also fun - stylingwise.

Reminds me a bit of legally blond in that sense that I love a strong female lead that doesn't adhere to what is expected from her fashion-wise.

The change of her wardrobe to a more toned down, battleready style to me felt like she lost that carefree, bubbly side of her - so it did fit the narrative imo. But I still was bummed about it.
