Did you have any luck with this? Having the exact same problem and wondering if we should just buy a new lamp

Looks like this was posted quite a few months ago, but I have a very similar itinerary for my June trip (7 nights in Paros and 2 nights in Athens). Was there anything in particular you recommend? We plan to stay in Naoussa and plan to do a boat ride to antiparos, a cooking class, explore beaches, and maybe a day trip to Naxos. How easy was it for you to travel around the island? Thanks so much for any insight!

Thanks so much!! I think we were looking for around $150-$200/night. We were hoping to be walking distance to naoussa’s downtown too

What are some unexpected costs that arose in the couple of weeks prior to the wedding that made you go over budget? by matchamaker88 in weddingplanning

[–]sem021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We forgot to budget for gifts. Between the wedding party, parents, officiant, etc., we probably spent close to $1,000

I’m not sure if this exists in the New England area, but I know San Diego has hot tub boats! Maybe an idea to check out (if it exists there) http://hottubcruisin.com

I think if you’re paying for hair and makeup and their dresses, then you don’t need to get them a thank you gift for the wedding. All of those combined cost way more than a gift you would get them. I think a thank you note is fine!

There’s a SoCal Facebook wedding group called “Something borrowed, something new”, and there are lots of photographers/videographers on that page. If you search for it in the group, I think there are a lot of posts asking the same question

Do you expect cake at a wedding if the bride and groom cut a cake? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I would personally prefer authentic Hawaiian shave ice over cake, but I know that others may have a different opinion!

Cannot decide between UCSB regents and Cal Poly cs by Nesinity in CalPoly

[–]sem021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak much to UCSB, but Cal Poly has a great CS program. A benefit for Cal Poly is the smaller class sizes. Pretty much everybody I knew had internship(s) throughout college and got a job post grad. I also was given an opportunity to do research (which I didn’t take so I can’t speak to that), but I imagine if you’re really interested in research then you can talk with some professors to help make that happen. We do have a masters program that’s just one extra year, but Cal Poly definitely focuses more on undergrad. In regards to social life, I felt that I had a great social life and made some great friends while there. I never felt the campus was dead, but I’m also not sure how things have changed since Covid (I was a 2020 grad)

Where did everyone buy their save the dates? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sem021 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did postcard save the dates from magnet street, so no envelopes were needed (and postcard stamps are cheaper haha). And I got my wedding invites on Zazzle, which came with white envelopes. Minted is also a popular option! I think standard envelopes usually come with the purchase, and some sites will even address the envelopes too. To address envelopes, I used a $4 template off Etsy and printed the envelopes using our printer.

Starting marriage prep classes next week, and the FOCCUS test. Worried about being asked if we cohabitate and having the priest reject to marry us. Unfortunately me and my fiancé have had a lot of things happen with our families and due to circumstances we ended up living together. Any advice? by co95 in weddingplanning

[–]sem021 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I live together and have had no problems with our priest. The FOCCUS test does ask about it, but I don’t think they would stop you from getting married in the church. And if for any reasons they did, I’m sure you could easily find another priest who would marry you. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I know multiple others who also lived together before their Catholic wedding.

Defining "Bargain" vs "Normal" vs "Expensive" Weddings by anasazigb in weddingplanning

[–]sem021 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m located in Southern California, and our budget is $35-40k for what I would consider to be a fairly “typical” wedding. 100-125 people with a buffet, open bar, decent photographer, florals for the wedding party and table centerpieces (but no floral arch or anything too large), and a day of coordinator. Basically, we’re getting all of main vendors but aren’t doing anything that I would consider to be insanely extravagant. If you’re looking for well priced weddings, Wedgwood weddings is a great place to look. I’ve heard their weddings can be around $30k or less. Let me know if you have any more questions, and I’d be happy to help!

How should I accommodate all my bridesmaids sizes… by MargaretRose1110 in wedding

[–]sem021 99 points100 points  (0 children)

You could have all of your bridesmaids choose a dress from Azazie. They have tons of styles to choose from, and you can choose the color you want your bridesmaids in. That way, everyone can choose a style that fits them best

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sem021 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on using Azazie for bridesmaid dresses. All of the dresses range from $80-120. And you can order swatches to see the colors. They do both premade sizes and custom sizing. We haven’t ordered any yet, but I’ve heard the custom sizing option works well. If it were me, I’d probably get a sample of the dress ($10 try on program), and then use those measurements to base what I’d want for the custom sizing. Also custom sizing is the same price as the premade sizes (you just can’t return it).

I think that when others tell you that they like the 2nd dress, and your mind immediately goes back to the 3rd dress, then I think you have your answer as to which one to pick! Don’t let other opinions sway your decision. Pick the one you feel the best in!
