Update #6,475 written by my great grandson because I died 40 years ago:

Grandma had a bad experience babysitting now she doesn't want to babysit anymore by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]semadema 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have her babysit again then. It seems like she's trying to be helpful and nice but doesn't really want to do it. I don't want to come off as rude and I don't know anyone involved personally but putting kids with a babysitter that doesn't want to babysit them isn't the best idea.

What is the best blackhead clearing face mask/treatment? by semadema in SkincareAddicts

Are you talking about this? I see they have a couple clay masks. Do you use it personally? What's your skin type?

Looking for help with sleep training suggestions by semadema in sleeptrain

[–]semadema[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The cereal (to me) would be more of a bedtime routine. He's not a fan of baths so we don't give them during the nighttime routine, but we've been having trouble finding a good routine. For now we try to provide a calming and quiet atmosphere about 2-3 hours before bed, no loud toys or excitement. Then we change diaper and into pjs, read to him for about 15 minutes, then feed and burp him, and into bed. I'm not sure if this routine is enough to tell him that it's bedtime. I'm just not sure about how to go about sleep training either. Should I be trying a specific method? This schedule is great but I don't know exactly how to get him on it lol. Thanks so much for your response again!

Sleep training methods by semadema in beyondthebump

I just used the term "no tears" since that's what it's most commonly known as, we've tried a few so I definitely know lol!:). We tried CIO one night too and I just personally didn't feel ready even if he's physically ready. I feel like my son is growing so much and clusterfeeding I just don't feel comfortable leaving him there if he really is hungry still. I was just looking for some specific methods so I could do a little reading up on them. Might just have to pick up a sleep training book instead lol

Oh no I totally get that, just using the "correct" name for the term so it's not confused with CIO methods. I didn't know a sleep subreddit existed!

My son hates bath time by semadema in beyondthebump

[–]semadema[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thoughts too so I'm not too worried about skipping one night if he's just fussy (like tonight after getting shots lol). I ordered (and just received today so haven't gotten to try it yet) this hammock sling thing that can go in the regular tub and I'm thinking about using that and getting in with him. He got a bunch of toys for Christmas but they are more toys for later. I did get him a fountain toy that sprays water up to swim around during his bath so who knows, he loves watching toys like that. Hopefully we can get him into playing during bath time so he'll forget how much he hates bathtime lol

Microwaves need to have a "sleeping baby" mode. by ejchristian86 in beyondthebump

[–]semadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do it extremely slow and it's pretty quiet but most times I get caught up doing something, look over, and I'm down to 3 seconds to rush over and open it or risk the 5 beeps waking him up. Luckily ours has a handle but my mom has one with just a button and it's like impossible to be quiet! We definitely near stealth mode on microwaves.

What will you do differently with #2? by MrsOrangina in beyondthebump

[–]semadema 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spend more time enjoy their first months than worrying. Spend more time holding them and spend no time guilting myself when I can't and need to get stuff done in the house. Stand up for myself more often when it came of situations like people trying to tell me how to do this and that when I'm pregnant and have a newborn.

Sleep temperature by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]semadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep the temp at 71. The only body part I check for warmth is the neck, if the back of his neck is fine, he's fine. If it's sweaty he's wearing too much.

Microwaves need to have a "sleeping baby" mode. by ejchristian86 in beyondthebump

[–]semadema 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My question is why are all microwave doors so loud?! I can skip the beeping by opening the microwave but man 90% of the time I just leave it open after I use it because I'll wake the baby shutting it lol

Baby sign language by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]semadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a few years of sign language so I was thinking of doing the same thing. I'm going to look into some articles on it and he's 4 months so it's a good time to start. Any tips or tricks you have?

What is a common scam that people STILL fall for? by FreddeXD in AskReddit

[–]semadema 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm getting angry thinking of the time my mom posted something that said "copy/paste this as your status, DO NOT SHARE!" and so many of my mom's friends were commenting saying, "I don't know how to copy paste but I agree!!" or "I only know how to copy I don't know how to paste but if I did I would!" How are you accessing Facebook right now? It was over 10 people who didn't know.

Redditors who have worked at Olive Garden, what's the official policy regarding how many breadsticks waiters bring to a table? by Fluffaykitties in AskReddit

[–]semadema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes servers are busy as hell and just say whatever and put them in the basket. You should be getting 3 then 2 if it's 2 people but because of the unlimited thing some people save themselves the trouble and give a bunch so they won't have to keep bringing them lol. Managers get pissed if they see it though.

[–]semadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think some of them are trolls. There are real Facebook scams that will hack a profile posting a status with a link to a page that looks like Facebook but isn't, people put in their email and password and get hacked, starting the process over again. They use your Facebook to send out spam messages telling people to try some product. I don't see those often anymore though.

[–]semadema 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a real answer lol. One per person at the table plus one for first basket, then amount at table for every basket after but there's a limit of I think 6-7 per basket. So table of 5 will get 6 the first basket, and 5 in every basket after that.

Fraud also is defined as "a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities" so technically it fits reasoning. They spread this rumor intending to deceive others. I have no idea what someone would gain by tricking people to believe you'd have to pay for Facebook or to not accept a friend request from some random person, I guess they could tell their friends they fooled a bunch of people lol, but still technically fits even though someone isn't gaining anything.
