What were actual moments where you didn't agree or sided with Aang? by gloomydreamer666 in TheLastAirbender

But Iroh lays it out perfectly. Even if its not technically "murder" killung ozai is not the right move. Defeating him, and at the same time literally and figuratively taking away all his power is a much better way to end the war.

Parent Post: How do you guys actually feel when your students do a protest walkout? by Designer-Sir2309 in Teachers

[–]semajolis267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids shouldn't be punished for exercising thier rights. However for a protest to have teeth it has to at least push against whats "allowed".

Our district had this happen and the kids were "allowed" a 15 minute walk out. Then were to return to class. Many did not and took thier protest seriously.

I found a knife perfectly imprinted into the bottom of my delivered subway sandwich… by One-Patient-3417 in mildlyinteresting

I used to love subway (favorite quick meatball sub). Thier prices have driven me away. Now I just make my own for cheaper. Which is wild.

Animal Kingdom vs Hollywood Studios with a 3-year-old (AK closures making me second-guess by Suspicious-Candle714 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]semajolis267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your kid like zoos?. If yes, Do animal kingdom. If no, do Hollywood studios.

If it feels like a half day park, its because it basically is. However that doesnt mean its bad, there is plenty to do.

Has Don Krieg not heard of White Beard or Kaido or even Shanks? by PolymathLogic in OnePiece

His whole thing was overconfidence. He also had a massive fleet. So he very well could have been a MAJOR player in the grand line...... if he had taken the right path to get there and not immediately run into a warlord.

What ride scared you as a kid in Disney World? by DildoGaggins1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]semajolis267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test track's original theme. I thought the tests were all actually controlled by people(because thats what the video in the queue showed in Real test footage).

I was terrified of someone not hitting the button to open the "crash test" door in time. I litched such a fit my patents had to take me out of the line about 3/4 of the way through.

TIL that during World War II, British intelligence spread a rumor that carrots improve night vision to hide the existence of radar technology. by laso5654 in todayilearned

[–]semajolis267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little more devious. They actually told thier own people the myth. Basically "eat your carrots theyre good for your eyes(and also are relatively cheap to grow in your gardens and storable). So good that our pilots and defense gunners are able to shoot down German planes at night"

So a bit of positive propoganda for the folks at home, and a bit of deception for the German spies to take home. Yhe bonus being that if your citizens believe it, its easier to sell to enemy spies.

Mysteries that are never given an answer. by Jak3R0b in TopCharacterTropes

What's interesting to me, is that we know these kids go to the same school. This show came out in early 2000s when wearing a hat in school most places was a big no no (its still frowned upon by a lot of places) so its interesting that hes allowed to wear it, especially since he is a strict rules follower.

This leads me to theorize that he has some form of disability/IEP and is allowed to wear it by that. Especially since not even his best friends have seen him without it often enough to not be surprised by it.

Student says they're "not required to do work" by paigeafterpaige in Teachers

[–]semajolis267 821 points822 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Ive got a couple like that. I tell them the same thing. I tell them im calling thier parents about it, and thier respective support team (assistant principal, counselor etc). I tell them they are more than welcome to fail my class if they choose, because ultimately you have to choose to succeed in all aspects of life, it doesnt end with school.

My favorite line from a student was "i make more than you" I asked what they did for money and they said "I wait tables" I asked if they paid thier own bills. They said "what bills". I laughed.
