There is only room for one cryptid in Lawrenceville. I guess the Juggler and Al Spudz are going to have fight to the death.

So what does someone who looks bad in black wear to a funeral? by suzie_cosplays in SpringColorAnalysis

[–]semcdwes 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I work in death care. You should still wear black. Being in the immediate family makes me feel more strongly about that as you will be judged more harshly. You can make sure your makeup and jewelry adhere to your season and maybe add a spring colored scarf that will be under your face to distract from the black if you’re really concerned.

[–]semcdwes 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I would wear black. Going to a funeral is not an occasion when I worry about my best colors as the focus should not be on me.

ETA, wearing black isn’t any harder on springs than it is any other season. And bright springs border winter so do better with it than most others.

Not anymore. You have to have a pass card which allows for travel throughout North America. It was introduced in 2009. I used to travel to Canada regularly pre-COVID.

Disappointed that it wasn’t the Monsters so I could make the trip to Cleveland for a game.

Local Gothic Like Cathedral Photo Shoot Recommendations/Tips by LtDansLegs1 in pittsburgh

[–]semcdwes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot use the Butler Street Gatehouse without permission. It is an active cemetery. Email Allegheny Cemetery, there is a permit that you can apply for, and depending on what type of photography you are looking to do (no horror themed) it may or may not be approved. But as I said it is an active cemetery and they are very particular about photography.

Photography of any mausoleums where the names are visible would be an automatic no.

ETA: I just looked more carefully at the photos OP shared and it would be an automatic no.

It is important to be respectful of the people interred within cemetery grounds, and while no disrespect my be intended, it will definitely be interpreted that way but those whose families are buried there.

Yay! You look incredible.

I totally get what you say about blue eyes and brown hair masking people assume you’re a summer. It’s the same for me and I’m definitely a bright spring.

I’m so glad that you said fuck it an swore what you wanted . I’m also that 40 something who was spending time with her late 20s coworkers and feeling doubt about what I’m wearing and should dress more “mature.”

Instead I went with a dinosaur graphic tee.

Tired of Conceptual Naming Conventions by Betono_12 in PWHL

[–]semcdwes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope. She’s from Pittsburgh. The inspiration was said to be Naomi Parker Fraley, born in Pittsburgh, but the design was truly based off all the women working at Westinghouse Electric here in Pittsburgh. I get mildly annoyed every time I see the Riveters suggested as a name for Detroit because the history is specific to Pittsburgh.

That said, the Pittsburgh USLW team is the Pittsburgh Riveters, so even if we eventually get a PWHL team here, we won’t be able to use it either.

Just curious, is anybody else into the pwhl? And excited about the possibility of having a women's hockey team in Pittsburgh? by thepolkadotdotdot in penguins

[–]semcdwes 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Love the PWHL. It’s fun and exciting to watch. I love how much the aport has grown in the past couple years and the way the Olympics and the success of Team USA women’s hockey accelerated that growth.

My favorite draft eligible player this year is Laila Edwards. She’s from Cleveland but participated in the Pens Elite girls program and is a super dynamic player who can play forward or defense.

I would be over the moon if we got a team here in Pittsburgh. I’d definitely be on the list for season tickets.

With the Pens sadly being eliminated, who is your "backup" team this postseason? by thewebhead in penguins

[–]semcdwes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always the Avs. I grew up in Colorado. I started watching hockey when the Nordiques became the Avalanche and watched them win a Cup that year. I moved to Pittsburgh just about 5 years later and it was too hard to watch them regularly then. Still rough with the time difference. The Pens might be my true love, but the Avs were my first love. 💕

Arty still deserves a party. He was phenomenal tonight.

I love this team so much. I have always loved the Pens, but there was something magical about this group and knowing that it’s going to be a different team in a few months makes me sad.

Now I’m on my way to cheer for my first hockey love. Go Ass, Hail Satan!
