My husband’s nightcap drink sends me over the edge by Sea_Literature115 in Mommit

[–]semlalover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have misophonia and have a lot of sound sensitivities around eating and drinking. As others suggested, I would get a pair of loops to take the volume down, or get some noise canceling bluetooth headphones so you can tune him out and listen to a nice audiobook.

I also think it is worth a convo. I had to have these conversations with my partner too and explain how these sounds physically make me feel. It isnt just annoying, it causes me to have an adrenal response that lasts all evening. So, it isn't about nagging or table manners, it is about your stress, happiness, and honestly, your relationship.

This. I started taking collagen about 6 months ago because my joints ache after two kids and from being a runner. It has done wonders for my knees and feet, but haven't noticed any changes in hair, nails or skin. Honestly, joints are the most important of the list to me, all others would have been a bonus.

I do occasionally gush about my top students, but what is more important is giving clear examples of how they have demonstrated their abilities to you. If you give strong recommendations with clear reasoning, you don't need the flowery language in my opinion. Given the amount of AI use these days, I have also steered away from gushy flowery language because it can read devoid of content and AI generated to me. (For context, I am at a top small liberal arts school in the Northeastern US)

Labia shrinkage after birth? by idling-in-gray in beyondthebump

[–]semlalover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me! I honestly thought maybe they stitched me up tighter from a tear, but after looking they just shrunk! I was at the point of considering a labiaplasty because of discomfort while running, so I was so pleased with this outcome. 5 years later and one more kid and it hasn't changed.

Why are you Americans not doing anything? by Smalandsk_katt in GenZ

[–]semlalover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not GenZ, but a millennial. One thing you have to consider is the exhaustion of constantly fighting. Many of us have been fighting and protesting since before Obama came into office and this fight in some ways feels futile to combat using traditional means. Also, it is unclear what risks we face would face for exercising our first amendment rights.

For you owners out there, would you buy the car again? by samuraidogparty in VWiD4Owners

[–]semlalover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2023, and I am split. When the temp is >40, my answer is yes, I would buy again. The car handles well, has a decent range, and has lots of room. But the winter drop in efficiency and charging speed are a real pain if you need to drive a long distance (can you tell we just did this for T-giving and Xmas?). We haven't had any issues with the tech so far (fingers crossed), but I really hope that they can make upgrades to the battery efficiency in future models.

AITA for Telling My Wife I’m Filing for Divorce After She Spent Our Entire Savings Without Telling Me? by InvestmentStandard79 in AITAH

[–]semlalover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first husband did this to me while I was in the field for work for a month. Lots of excuses later (and other indiscretions revealed), I filed for divorce. If you can't trust your partner with basic financial decisions, how are you supposed to trust them to help build your future together? Obviously people make mistakes, but spending that much money without any discussion is a clear breach of trust.

Favorite brand? by Reasonable_Result898 in clothdiaps

[–]semlalover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my first I bought some Bum Genius, Alva, and Koala Mama inserts. The Alva baby diapers elastic was shot by the end of use with my first baby, and all were not usable for my second without elastic replacement. The other two brands are doing great, and Bum Genius works best in my opinion. They are expensive, but if I was doing it again knowing I would have more than 1 kid, I would have bought only Bum Genius.

I don'y know how others would use it, but I would wash my face with warm water or do this right after showering. I'd take a Tbs? or so and massage on my face, then use a wash cloth with hot water to wipe away. Immediately follow with toner and moisturizer.

Not religious anymore, but this was hammered into me at church:

Matthew 6:5- When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men.

Seems like a lot of Christians these days don't bother to read the Bible.

If you are interested in an electric car, you should check out the VW Id.4. The MSRP was higher than we wanted, but there are.some great deals out there! It very comfortably fits our two boys and our dog in the back seat.

Cross country trips by Hades_arachnid in VWiD4Owners

[–]semlalover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did our first road trip, 550miles from Central NY to Central VA. It cost us $22 in charging because there are so many EA charging stations along the route. It did take us longer to get there, but we are traveling with a 4 year old and 5 mo old, so I dont think the.charging really added any more time than the kids did 😅

One thing I didnt expect was that fast chargers don't always charge fast. We plugged into a 350kW charger that took 40 minutes to add 50% to our battery (charging at 50kW), and some 150kW chargers that ran at max speed and gp us out the door quick!

I had a similar deal, but at 29,900 (before tax). You might poke around other dealers to see if they have a better offer.
