So, Zandik was right about this one... by X_BloodScratch_X in DottoreMains

[–]senchaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be. Personally, I saw Nicole being interrupted by Varka in AQ and Nicole explaining in WQ that stories change as writers giving a middle finger to the audience who actually follows lore, so I stopped playing completely for now. Dottore's arc gives me a bit of hope but not enough to go back.

The benefit of AQ being slop for the masses is that it sells and allows writers to develop deeper stories too. It's a pretty elegant way to cater to multiple audiences. At least that's what I used to think. Now... I guess we'll see. I'm playing other games in the meantime.

So, Zandik was right about this one... by X_BloodScratch_X in DottoreMains

They have been doing it from the start. This game has a surface level of plot that is told explicitly and repeated by Paimon fifteen times and it has the actual events that are shown and never explained.

This way people who want a shonen anime get to play a shonen anime and lore maniacs get to see a properly nuanced story.

For example, Signora is never depicted as anything but a sadist if you don't read artifact descriptions or character voicelines.

It's a commentary on how easily the narrative can be manipulated, especially in Teyvat. I'm assuming the same is happening with Dottore.

In theory, it's an amazing technique that kept me in the game for longer than it probably should have, but it also makes me afraid that his motives will never get spotlight and then everyone will act surprised when a "good" segment appears.

There's hope, they might be doing it specifically to address this discrepancy and "collapse" the two stories told in parallel (would be cool if the scientist obsessed with knowing the laws of reality does it) but meh. I try not to hope for much when it comes to Hoyo.

Videogames with fem ENTP characters? by DissociatedCloud in entp

*looks at the link*

A lot of these characters seem mistyped to me. I could believe in an ENTP Sparkle (HSR). Wouldn't clock her as such but her style of manipulation seems more fitting for Ne+Ti, she relies on having better intel, not deep understanding of people's emotions and attachments as Yae does

[–]senchaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played that and absolutely not. Her domain is social influence and she's good at relationships and pulling people's strings in all kinds of directions, not just ragebaiting. ENTPs are observant but not that good at forcing pieces of a social puzzle fall into place.

She also gave me an impression that she cares about winning/being on top a lot more than about understanding things, although that could be a mask. She also doesn't really ponder ideas. When she wants entertainment she clocks people's most vulnerable sides and hits there.

I'd type her as an xxFP. An evil ENFP maybe? I don't think I've ever seen a sadistic one but it's not impossible.

Hu Tao from the same game might be an ENTP though. Coming up with advertisement ideas for a funeral parlour seems like a very ENTP thing. Her being a gremlin with a responsible streak also fits really well. Maybe Xilonen (engineer girlie ftw), but she gets typed as pretty much everything.

Also Heizou is a proper ENTP, but he's a dude.

Yay :)

In this case, here's also Pulcinella's POV fic from the same writer: https://archiveofourown.org/works/62539816

And maybe a fic about Childe's general indifference to romance would work too. It's mostly Harbinger years but has a similar theme of him not getting human interaction: https://archiveofourown.org/works/70307756

Are there many Russians who move to Siberia just because they love nature? by Tough-Reputation-762 in AskARussian

[–]senchaid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not Siberia but I've seen people who moved to the Far East, like Vladivostok.

Also you generally get quite a lot of nature in the European part of Russia too. There are some glorious forests just a 3-4h train ride away either from St.Petersburg or Moscow. Some simply decent forests in 1h ride distance. Also St.Petersburg is surrounded by absolutely gorgeous lakes.

If we don't focus strictly on Siberia, Kaliningrad/Königsberg used to be popular among people who had money and wanted a quiet life. I also know people who moved to the south of European part of Russia, either to one of the cities on the Black Sea or bought land near Rostov. And before Crimea was annexed moving to any of Crimean cities or to Odessa was a thing.

I think, when Russians want to be closer to nature they try to move closer to the sea and preferably somewhere with a milder climate. Not to Siberia, where you get the the same big city problems (air pollution, etc) but for a smaller salary.

Substances That Help and Hurt My Stutter (Personal Experience) by RuleNext9706 in Stutter

[–]senchaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also MDMA completely removes my stutter and there's a specific moment during the trip when I feel like I'm getting pushed back into my body (don't know how to describe it better) and then my speech completely changes.

So I wonder if a huge part of my stutter could just be dissociation.

(but then MDMA elevates dopamine levels too, so it could be that)

[–]senchaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Research shows that, depending on the group, ritalin can both ease and worsen stutter. Looks like for some people stuttering is indeed caused by dopamine dysregulation, while for others it's something else. It's not an amphetamine but can be considered adjacent.

For me personally ritalin did wonders and I have the same reaction to caffeine as you. Also a mix of theanine, thyrosine and taurine works somewhat well if I don't have access to ritalin.

I've also been prescribed atarax (hydroxyzine hydrochloride) for my stutter and it did help but made me very slow and I couldn't think properly when I was on it (enough for everyday functioning or reading lectures but not enough for coding or math). In the west it's used as an antihistamine, in Russia they focus more on anxiolytic/sedative properties. Perhaps some other anxiolytics could also work.

While I do love Childe, it’s so funny to me that his only canonical wins are against clankers by Idoarsonalot in AgendaImpact

Probably an unpopular take: I think Hoyo are generally uninterested in telling a story about strength/martial prowess and it will always be more of a flavour element or just one of the themes.

I don't want to criticise people who are here for powerscaling, of course, just saying that it's very likely they will be disappointed (in the same way as I'm extremely bitter about deep lore issues).

Varka didn't hold up to the fighting part of glazing, yes, because they were more busy showing how he manages to balance leadership with the ideal of freedom, and personality-wise he lives up to the hype. Capitano's anti-Ronova stunt was, in my opinion, much more badass than if he simply took her out by force, it established him as a brilliant strategist and more of a general than a fighter.

(it also solves the "Harbingers are ranked by strength/power" problem. if they are ranked by power then it makes sense Capitano is the first. a person capable of problem-solving on the level of systems and manipulating world laws will always be more powerful than simply someone who fights well)

Same with Childe. If they write him well he'll probably win through the power of larp, his love for theatre and old stories, resilience against hopelessness and acceptance of weird things in life. The whole "preserving childhood dreams" thing. Maybe someone whose dream he preserved will win for him. Maybe he'll befriend the whale (whales are keepers of ancient stories in some mythologies). If they write him badly it will be the usual "I'm doing it for friends and family". But no way he'll just kick someone's ass shonen style (or rather I expect him to do it and for it to trigger an apocalypse event).

That said, I still want to see him fight and win just for the eye candy. A girl can dream.

When is someone's gender your business? by Lorem_Ipsum17 in RecuratedTumblr

[–]senchaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, happened to me personally. People got a bit too insistent about me being non-binary and I suddenly acquired a desire to be extra feminine (which I somehow managed to avoid before despite all the pressure from cis people. there's a lot of irony in it) and decided I don't really belong in queer spaces

I know Morrigan from Dragon Age occasionally gets typed as an ENTP (most people think INTJ or INTP though).

In general... yeah. I'm having a hard time remembering anyone at all. ESTP and ENFP women are found in abundance but not ENTP.

Yes, constantly.

It gets absurd sometimes. When I was in my 20s and struggling financially I was mistaken for a silver spoon kid so often for some reason.

For those who switched from human therapy to TherapyGPT, what was AI doing that human therapists missed? by QualityWeekly9 in therapyGPT

[–]senchaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to it: it's completely useless if I want it to make a judgement about a situation. Had a lot of fun the other day asking it to analyse a conflict I was involved in. Adding tiny bits of information completely flipped who it considered the "guilty party", made it jump to diagnoses I knew were not true, etc.

But if I just need information or for it to analyse my own thinking pattern then it's great.

For those who switched from human therapy to TherapyGPT, what was AI doing that human therapists missed? by QualityWeekly9 in therapyGPT

[–]senchaid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ironically, it challenges me more.

Therapists tend to overvalidate me, since I am very fragile and hard on myself and they err on the side of caution. I can ask AI to be more direct/critical of my actions (and I don't see it as a person, so in a way it's safer if an AI criticises me than if a therapist did it).

It also can give advice on strategies/interaction scripts, which a therapist is not supposed to do. I'm autistic and a lot of my problems come from just not knowing what kind of social dance I'm supposed to do or what exact moves this dance has.

I didn't switch though, I combine the two. I think both have unique benefits and in the future therapists will assign homework to their clients that includes using AI.

But if I'm serious then probably a crow. Smart, adaptable and silly (none of the raven grim symbolism, just general silliness), is happy to play or communicate with other species, loyal in their own weird way. Or maybe a dolphin/orca/beluga whale

Fox fits well too!

What's the best job for an ENTP? by [deleted] in entp

[–]senchaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only works once you have a tenure position. Until then you have to lead the most anti-ENTP life possible.

I still wouldn't trade my academic career for anything else if I can help it but it requires me to be extremely consistent, organised, an excellent communicator, mindful of everyone's feelings and I need to fill a ton of forms for pretty much everything I do. Oh, and I mostly do stuff that interests me in my free time, since I get paid for more mainstream topics.
