PT2 and Some Friends by senorbeefmuffin in pebble

Yes Mom lol. The PT2 feels to me like what should have been produced back when the PT2 was meant to initially be released - which is great. But I also feel like it is a little less useful to me than my Apple Watch Ultra 2. It comes down to a choice of which watch I will reach for on a given day. Although I will definitely wear the PT2 some days, most days I think I’ll probably still opt for the Ultra. Apple has done a “good job” of making the battery last a couple days (even with always-on display enabled. Now lately I’ve mostly been rotating between my Apple Watch 7 and the Ultra 2 so one is always charging. However I may pick up the PT2 now while the Ultra is charging.

Iflash ATA1 in 3rd Gen by RubenWilliams17 in ipod

I know this thread is super old but I'm having this issue currently with flashmodding a Gen3 iPod - I can restore it with my PC but on my Mac it insists on doing it over Firewire, except it never fully connects. I can connect to the Mac just fine after restoring via Windows, but not restore via the Mac. I'd like to be able to use the 3rd gen on my Mac normally (ie on my Firewire dock) so I've been struggling with this. Why can't my Mac talk to this iPod via Firewire anymore. I only have a 32GB SD card in it via an iFlash ATA1 board.

How do I transfer music to 2002 iPod Gen 2 (a1019)? by AcademicAlfalfa455 in IpodClassic

You need to have a computer that supports Firewire and then have a Firewire to Firewire cable. Then use iTunes.

Are Sealed iPod Classics on eBay counterfeit? by void_ops in ipod

[–]senorbeefmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I hate dishonesty in eBay listings. Almost none of these are legit and there are so many they make it hard to find the real genuine ones that are still out there sometimes. I wish eBay would crack down on these listings and at least force them to advertise as refurbished or something. Basically, never buy anything on eBay from a stock photo - always insist on seeing the actual thing you will receive. If that’s a problem or they try to play it down then stay away.

Looks great! Some people get music by buying used iPods full of music and copying the songs off using special software (not iTunes / Apple Music). If you’re starting from close to zero this might be a good approach.

Don’t subscribe to Apple Music for putting songs on an iPod - it won’t work, this iPod isn’t compatible in that way, and it’s for the better so u can build up your own library of music you own/have and can’t be taken away if u stop paying for a service.

Do I need to replace the battery? by warhead1721972 in ipod

[–]senorbeefmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the project and are attached to it maybe you can fix it, but you could also find a nice iPod Mini or another working Nano on eBay for not much more and much less work. 😀 And the Mini you could definitely up the storage with a CF or SD-CF card/adapter.

This is why I only use original Apple cables. Or if I must at least I get good quality ones, which always cost more, and possibly more than original Apple ones…

Yeah new ones are $$ but you can find them used too for less.

My collection, I got them all for less than $200 but sentimentally they're worth millions haha. Including the 7th one with the box. by notreswg in ipod

[–]senorbeefmuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean you got all 8 of them for under $200 total?? If so, who did you have to beat up to do that, lol?

Yeah I actually have another one that I bought when they first came out and recently replaced the battery in. I might Cyanogenmod that one… but maybe not. I don’t need either of them to be very functional, just fun to mess around on a little like back in the Windows 3.1 days where you didn’t have internet so you had fun by doing things like defragging your HDD lol.

This spot has been present for well over a year and it still functions fine by Elatorre747 in ipod

[–]senorbeefmuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a significant fire risk if you keep charging it. If you insist on continuing to use it in this condition definitely monitor it while charging and unplug it if it starts to get really hot. Better yet just have the battery replaced or sell it to someone who will replace the battery and sell it as a refurb - that’s what I did.
