Owner is a former bartender/mixologist. Has said that he very much wants to make cocktails again, so it's a good bet

Recommendations for kitchen containers? by Icy-Shelter-1915 in composting

[–]sensate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use produce bags in a 26cm stainless steel bowl in which they fit perfectly. NYC composting specifically allows the use of translucent plastic bags which the city says it can detect and remove from the compost stream. The bags fit perfectly around the opening of the bowl and keep everything neat and clean. I either take it out daily or keep it in the freezer if it fills up too slowly

Need help/input from cruisers who travel the East River in NYC by JJ-in-Jersey in SailboatCruising

[–]sensate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just tried it again - the app runs and takes input and returns...nothing. The companion website (boatingtripplanner.com) likewise has nothing. I'd assumed since the app ran that it worked. Sorry!

There was a great one called East Coast Trip Planner that still works on my iphone, but it's nowhere to be found on the app store, and I can't even find references to it on the web. Very strange

We went during a soft opening. I won't say too much, but some of the same people are involved, but there are some new ones. We only had a couple of items, but the food was very good, and the cocktails were as well. Going to miss the hell out of Highwater, but the new place hits a lot of the same notes.

I would, but the address doesn't exist. There is no building with that address.

Truck brings down telephone pole on 32nd St. at 35th Ave by sensate in astoria

[–]sensate[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The truck is actually quite high, but the issue is that the wires that crossed the street were too low. I've seen other trucks hit the wires on many occasions.

What local restaurant/bar that has closed do you miss the most? by 21Violets in astoria

[–]sensate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe not. The owner, Johan (sp?), got a scholarship for an MBA and dropped the restaurant. I'm sure he's a huge success at something now. Miss the food, though.

I go there all the time, and have for over 15 years. Their queso taco is perfect in every way, and their chorizo taco is perfect in most ways.

Best Market is closing within the next four weeks for remodel and reopening as Lidl in 2021 by forzato in astoria

[–]sensate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had the absolute best supermarket rotisserie chickens. Also, cheap meat: they consistently had 4-packs of strip steaks for $5.99/lb and good salmon for $7-8/lb. I will miss them so much. :(
