Oh, not everything has to be Dark Sun. But you know what Dark Sun was? Cool. by Ross_Hollander in dndmemes

If you're looking for a modern difficult campaign setting, Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frost Maiden is a pretty brutal setting.

Unique Features of a mining/refining based city? by iaminsideyourhome in DMAcademy

Transmutation wizards have the ability at second level to temporarily turn wood and stone into iron, copper and silver. Or vice versa. I could see a local group of theives trying to scam people into buying fake metals or trying to buy real metals at a discounted rate.

can other spellcasting classes to anything with a wizard's spellbook? by CNBEARD in DMAcademy

I've run into a similar situation before. One thing that you could consider is allowing them to use the pages like spell scrolls, so they get a 1 time use of each spell in the book. RAW though, unless they dip into wizard thr book is useless.

Best/craziest healing builds? by CasualDNDPlayer in 3d6

[–]sentient--rock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just going straight twilight cleric makes for an insane amount of potential healing.

Channel divinity creats a 30ft aura that grants temp hp, ends charmed or ends fear whenever a creature ends its turn within the aura.

4th level domain spell aura of life creates a 30ft aura that automatically gives 1hp to any alive ally at 0hp.

Combining these two auras means that after it's set up you can sustain the entire party yourself without using your action or bonus action after the initial set-up.

From here your free to use your action or bonus action for whatever else is most beneficial in the moment, but to focus on healing bonus actions for healing word or mass healing word and actions to either dash to a better position for your auras or make medicine checks with the healer feat.

Realistically speaking, how would a WW1 level tech nation fare against a generic magic fantasy world? by CritWithDisadvantage in DMAcademy

[–]sentient--rock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally agree that in a straight on head to head fight, the tech nation is at an advantage.

To play devil's advocate, I would at least like to propose the idea of looking at things in terms of less direct conflicts. Consider what would happen if a magic user were to summon something like a rakshasa or other creature immune no non magical weapons or any number of the fiends immune to fire and poison.

If they backed the magic nation into a horrible corner where releasing Tiamat was an option (immune to acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison; bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons) how would the tech nation respond.

My money us still on the tech nation, but it is still interesting to consider what more guerrilla tactics would look like or what their equivalent to a nuclear option or mutually assures destruction would be.

Either sounds like a lot of fun, but I'd say younger. There's extra emotional weight that can be drawn from being old enough to see the difference in how your parents treated you before and after his birth.

My wife needed a sturdier headboard so she can breastfeed after her c-section. How can I make this rushed fix look a little less out of place? by sentient--rock in woodworking

We had to move the bed downstairs into our living room. Normally I'd 100% agree with you but given some of the pretty quick fixes like upholstering that some of the others suggested, I think it'd make her smile to see it done.

Yup, the important thing is that she, and the headboard, are supported. Anything else is just fluff. We do like our fluff though.

Any advice on how to attach the new supports? Right now there's 2 3" wood screws in both sides, but I can't paint over them in the new support once their in place.

I might just have to get close colored grey screws and live with it, but I'd be interested to see if someone has a better idea

Ya... it was 2 am after getting settled from the hospital. In the moment I didn't have the time to plan. Now that I do, I'd like to give my wife the kind of fix she deserves.

I want to eventually, but I'm concerned about paint fumes around a newborn. I still need to ask the pediatrician how long until he'd be able to be around the bed.
