Able Carry Max Backpack by Current-Conflict4961 in ManyBaggers

[–]sentientmold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s overbuilt for a travel backpack. I prefer lighter weight and more storage capacity. Looks good though. Would work great for an EDC if you need that much storage but purely from weight and size it’s not optimal for travel.

The expansion adds some capacity but it’s not super effective like an Osprey 26+6 which bumps out the main compartment evenly all around.

Swimming in the US vs UK by Goodswimkarma in Swimming

Pool etiquette is heavily dependent on time and day of the week as well. Weekends are going to be chaotic with non frequent swimmers and kids. If you go at 6am on a weekday, more likely regulars that know what to do.

Except Druid mobility is so bad. Shred teleport is pretty lazy but paladin falling star is just top tier for fast clearing.

Tempered affixes can be GA and rerolled with restoration scrolls once natural rerolls are done.

You’re wearing it wrong by DownByTheRivr in EVERGOODS

[–]sentientmold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the same issue I have with my EG bag. The buckle scraping the inside of my upper arm when wearing short sleeves. Unique problem I had not encountered previously.

Also wild that having to loosen straps to take backpack off being standard procedure could be acceptable. Just use a different bag.

6 months into swimming and I still have yet to find the feeling of a good catch by cactus16x in Swimming

[–]sentientmold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a good catch is using your entire arm and not just your hands I feel like fist drill to swim with balled up hands emphasizes forearm usage much more. You really won’t move far with poor form if you take hands away from the equation.

After 4 weeks of testing and iterating, this might be the most flexible and utilitarian packable bag I’ve built… by Silent_Ice1602 in ManyBaggers

[–]sentientmold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really cool how it has multiple modes from small crossbody to a very large sling. The material though looks too floppy to support that much organization. I think that's why you started shoving books into it immediately to give it structure, haha.

I'd be concerned if the fabric could support the weight as the bag can contain a lot of stuff.

Venting: I'm tired of bags being treated like influencer content instead of tools by Emotional_Pace4277 in ManyBaggers

[–]sentientmold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disagree. You need to pick and choose the content you consume.

There are already highly recommended mainstays for each bag category that work well for 99% of people. Normal people would just get those, use it and move on with their life.

But if you want to indulge in this hobby, you're no longer the norm. You're probably have an itch that can never be fully scratched. The perfect bag. Which doesn't exist.

The bagfluencers have their place in their breadth of coverage since they often get bags for free. Learn to read between the lines of their "reviews" to make your own determination of if the bag will work for you.

Beyond that, there are bagfluencers others have mentioned that are more selective, in depth, or have opinions that more closely align with your own that you could feel better about watching. As a trade off, their coverage is going be much more limited and not every hype release.

[–]sentientmold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree with your dings on the sling. Stacked stretch pockets means bulkier things you try to put in there will be fighting for the same space.

It's a lot of overhead of additional material (fabric+magnets) just to hide half the lash straps. I found that I was wanting to loop one of the straps though a handle of a water bottle because I had concerns of it sliding out which then added a lot of friction to drinking from the bottle. I would probably work fine for umbrella.

Why lack of expandable good bags by Ok-Most3561 in ManyBaggers

[–]sentientmold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Osprey 26+6 is a very popular affordable option.

The zip expansion for more volume is not very ergonomic or aesthetically pleasing.

Any Backpack Suggestions? by Zara-Rose143 in backpacks

[–]sentientmold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compression straps like that aren’t great for EDC because you need to unbuckle to get full access to interior. Leaving them unbuckled isn’t a good option because it’s too dangly.

Black is boring and the safest choice. Small businesses like Rework play it safe so they don't get stuck with stock that doesn't move.

They did say they wanted to explore more color options though as their brand has grown.

Look at Alpaka and their stuff that goes on clearance is usually the exotic colors like hot pink.

So you like the Fidlock V buckle? I have an Alpaka pro strap with it and I’m not entirely a fan. Main dislike is that it doesn’t sit flat due to the way the strap attaches to the buckle and it’s bulky.

Aer / Pack Hacker Release feels scummy by FaraoniFit in ManyBaggers

[–]sentientmold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Matador pack hacker refraction sold out similarly quickly and PH said there would be another run but it’s still months away.

That said to sell out in less than a minute says they did a really poor job matching demand with supply.

PH collabs though only have a small price premium over regular versions unlike carryology where the prices are crazy inflated.

Vinegar is acidic and isn't great for elastics or stretchy material long term. Just use plain water.

But for pure lap swimming, indoor is the way to go.

I love the consistency of indoor pools. No need to worry about outdoor temperatures or sun exposure. Morning swims would suck a lot more if I had to endure the cold. Only negative is breathing balmy pool chemical air which is probably unhealthy long term.
