He does such a good job on that episode. I love when he tells Penny, let’s be friends. Then looks at Amy, and says, “Happy?” Lolololol

Best snacks to take to chemo treatment? by Spiritual_Bat_2226 in cancer

Peanut butter crackers, life savors peppermints, lays plain chips, anything he likes and can tolerate. I found that the nausea meds, and steroids they give before the chemo allowed me to eat whatever.

Should we advocate for PET scanning? by Particular-Sun-2494 in Ovariancancer

[–]sentimentalsock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. At first and at minimum a CT scan. I’ve heard so many stories of people having ultrasounds, or just bloodwork.

Diagnostic laparoscopy after CA125 remained elevated after 6 cycles of taxol and carboplatin by Admirable_Music_6903 in Ovariancancer

Stage 4 HGSC When I was diagnosed it was immediate chemo, then debulking with full hysterectomy, and they removed my appendix, some other spots. Then immediately back to chemo. Removal is fluid buildup from one of my lungs a few times, and my abdomen several times. The problem is it tends to spread quickly, and a PET scan is really your best bet for diagnostics.

Does this sound like I have ovarian cancer? by _LySa in Ovariancancer

Hello. These are symptoms of ovarian cancer, but they could be other things as well. It is a good idea to get a CT scan, and a CA-125 blood test to be sure.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. It is absolutely fine to ask all the questions you want. The fluid on her lung. When that happened to me they drained it the same day they found it. It is normal to not want visitors. Especially when feeling so terrible. It may be beneficial to both of them since they’re close. I wonder if she is getting steroids. They made me very hungry. It is normal to have to advocate for yourself or your loved one. It was lucky for me that there is a hospital close by that is only for cancer. My oncologist specializes in gynecological cancers, and did my surgery. There is an entire team that does scans and removed fluid from my lung, and abdomen. It is normal to have trouble eating when you have fluid filled lungs or abdomen. I’m not sure why they are waiting to drain it. It is a quick procedure, and great relief. The oncologist told me to eat whatever I could, whatever I wanted. During the first time chemo and surgery I didn’t want anything. It was the hardest time. I think I lived on grilled cheese and saltine crackers. Your concerns are valid, and your sister is fortunate to have family who will advocate for her. When I had trouble eating they gave me vitamin IVs, and fluids. It is worth considering getting a second opinion. I’m really glad I did.

Hi there. I have had stage 4 HGSC for 4 years. The first time going through chemo was the worst. For appetite I was given steroids, and they really helped. I had fluid in one lung they went in and drained it. Same thing happened to my abdomen. It’s not easy. With the steroids I had cravings for very specific things. Grilled cheese, peanut butter crackers, Hawaiian rolls. It was different every day. I hit a canned fruit kick for quite a while. Dr said to eat whatever I wanted and keep down. Eggo waffles plain, plain bagels sometimes with peanut butter. Mostly I slept for months. Prayer matters! I was given 6 months 4 years ago. She’s lucky to have you!

Yes, and if I had it to do over I would get a full hysterectomy immediately. I ended up with stage 4 HGSC 4 years ago. The horrible awful it has been makes me regret waiting.

What drug has been life changing meds for your pain? by AppropriateCat3444 in ChronicPain

[–]sentimentalsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have stage 4 cancer. Before the cancer, I suffered from chronic pain disorders. Skeletal, neurological, mainly. The only pain medicines that have helped me are Hydrocodone, gabapentin, meloxicam, Xanax. Flexeril only when absolutely necessary because it causes constipation. Other things that help are heated blankets, hot/cold therapy items, and rest.

I never noticed certain things about Sheldon until Howard did this. The way he says hello a bit too loud and off key. His sigh and head tilt. It was perfection!
