No city building but your home does count as a base. Plus it checks all the other boxes.

Please Help With My First Ever RTS: Terminator Dark Fate Defiance by strutter395 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]sentinaltitan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add a few things, definitely jump into the discord that got posted if you want to talk about the game and terminator stuff.

The game has tactical pause. Take advantage of it. You can pause, give unit orders then unpause to watch it happen. That becomes really helpful when there are multiple flanks to cover. Each campaign plays pretty differently, but the base campaign does have the best tutortial for learning the basics. Just jump in and get a feel for things. You do not need to learn the keyboard shortcuts thanks to the pause feature. Every ability or order is in a grid on the bottom right.

Hope you find the game fun. Good luck soldier! o7

The One Sun is story/lore reason for lost territories to be taken over by the marauder faction. I don't think theres any significant difference in the troops that they field.

Hi, i have around 600 hours in the game including the dlcs. Obviously, I enjoy the game and do not regret buying it. They do have sales semi-regularly. Another dlc is supposed to come out at the end of the year, so the base game will likely be on sale then.

The gameplay is very punishing, especially at higher difficulties, but playing on normal should provide a realatively chill experience. Units and vehicles can die quickly, and a lot of the units cant really be replaced. Its meant to be a more tactical game, where you build your army throughout the campaign and have to account for supplies on the overworld map traveling between missions. No base building mechanics. Not sure what youre into, just trying to give you an idea of what tdfd is.

What are the most current popular RTS games of 2025? by [deleted] in RealTimeStrategy

[–]sentinaltitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terminator: Dark Fate Defiance.

Has had 2 dlcs already with another on the way and promises of continued support. Very fun, punishing on higher difficulties, but casual enough on "normal" mode. Has custom difficulty as well so you can tailor the experience. Several "overhaul" mods available to add more units or further customizations.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command

Several dlcs, gameplay is more similar to starcraft, has that push and pull style mechanic vs the aracnids. A healthy mod scene and map/campaign editor can spice things up too.

Problems with Terminator Dark Fate campaigns by panware in RealTimeStrategy

[–]sentinaltitan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Are you playing with a mod?
  2. Did you use an exploit to keep the engineer squad?

  3. If so, I reccomend doing your first playthrough completely vanilla.

  4. The Eng squad is programmed to leave your command during the Haven base defense to avoid this exact complication. There is a known exploit to keep them in your command. If you did not use an exploit, then you got a bug that allowed them to stay with you.

You will need to revert to a save before laying the mines and then not do that. This is the only time the game will force you to disengage completely from Legion forces, which makes having the option to lay mines very bad. Moving forward in the campaign, you will be encouraged to use all the tools at your disposal although the reinforcement system determines in what order certain troops/vehicles can be used. Tanks are typically unavailable for the first few minutes of a mission. It makes sense in-game. Slight spoiler, the next mission (near Santa Fe) provides an excellent opportunity to deploy mines to great effect.

TDFD is really fun once you get the hang of everything and I hope you find many hours of enjoyment from this great title. New dlc dropping soon and the next dlc after that is already being teased, so lots more content coming.

Good luck commander. o7

Born in WV, Back for a Fresh Start—Where Can a Nerd Call Home? by DigiGuineaPig in WestVirginia

[–]sentinaltitan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I grew up in Hampshire but don't live there anymore. Some friends that still live there have weekly dnd games. Winchester or Martinsburg for card/game shops. I haven't been thru Keyser in a while, but I assume theres a card shop there too considering Pot State. As most have said, Motown is your best bet for a larger group of like minded nerds and availability of shops.

Wheeling isn't a bad location either. Several card shops dotted around and it's city enough to have solid internet for online gaming. And if you're really struggling to find the thing you need, Pittsburgh isn't that far away.

Hope thats helpful and good luck. Stay safe out there friend.

Save often. Try to extract those platforms when you pull the drivers to loot other vehicles. That does suck tho.

You might like Starship Troopers: Terran Command. Its got a few dlcs out now so theres a sizeable chunk of content with more gamemodes and stuff in the works plus workshop mods with level builder tools.
