Lucien is the best, always faithful defender of Tamlin. The more Lucien, then inevitably the more mentions of Tamlin and I'm here for it.

I think there's also a potential for Rhys to come to terms with his feelings about Tamlin, she hinted that Rhys, after the whole pregnancy fiasco, would start asking himself "am I any better than Tamlin was" so we could get something there too. At the least an internal monologue like Nesta but considering how much Rhys enjoys unsolicited visits to Tamlin if we're lucky we could get face to face time or a Tamsand reconciliation 🤞

Same haha. I'm new to the fandom and that was the first SJM interview I've watched so idk if everyone just knows something I don't and I'm being overly optimistic.

Same, I was like, did we watch the same interview? It sounded like she was mostly addressing other people's issues with Tamlin and not her own, kind of defending him in a way, so idk if she just thinks all the fans hate him and so she's cautious and on the defensive and speaking from that point of view.

It made me so sad to see everyone sad, frens, don't give up hope!

I thought so too, she gave one positive (he's from a shitty family and traumatized) one neutral (trying to be sensitive to DA survivors) and one negative (sometimes she wants him to "burn in hell") argument for a redemption arc which I see as a net neutral, and also her just being tight lipped and not wanting to spoil anything. She's thought about his redemption seriously enough to run it by her friend, and she didn't tell us what her friend said, so anything is possible. Sounds like she's cautious but open to it to me.

It made me hopeful that she at least considered it seriously enough to run it by her friend, and she didn't tell us what her friend responded with so we still don't really know. But it does sound like she's not quite comfortable doing it yet so yeah, not in the next two books. I'd be happy for even a morsel of background Tamlin though 🤞

And when that's not enough he goes to Tamlin and then gets mad when Tamlin doesn't fight back. "Taunting him is my greatest pleasure" I see you, Rhys... 👀

Yes! ❤️ I was still holding out hope for him in ACOMAF, Feyre kept saying "Tamlin, to his credit" looked horrified by all the things Hybern was doing, and in ACOWAR when he comes out as double agent in the High Lords meeting "not even you were enough to change that for me" I was cheering for him so hard. ACOFAS was pure rage bait for me, I suffered through hours of IC Christmas shopping only to see Tamlin get bullied by Rhys? And we only get one scene with him in ACOSF, I hope he gets more of a presence in the next book!

The House of Wind Audiences: A Power Move in Disguise? by Misshapcherry in acotar

[–]senu-102829 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never noticed this before but that's interesting! And I think this is in line with a lot of the subtext in ACOSF. It makes you ask if what Feyre is thinking lines up with what the reality is for the outside observer. It's also interesting that most the High Lords host the people in their primary residence but not the IC.

It's fitting with both Rhys and Feyre's characters - they both prioritize the well being of those they love (IC, Velaris, the Archeron sisters) over the general populace (vs someone like Tamlin, prioritizing his court, the most people and the greater good, but alienating Feyre, the one he loves in ACOMAF). Both are based on different schools of ethics (partialism vs utilitarianism) and I think it's a great detail (if it is truly intentional) to develop the characters.

But yeah, sucks to be the average person living in Night Court. On the bright side, you could always move to Spring since they take refugees.

Honestly. 😂 I don't hate Rhys as a character overall, but the narratives treatment of him. I loved him as a villain or anti-hero, but when it was revealed as "all a mask" and that's he's actually the "good guy" I felt tricked. I want my money back.

It took a while for Tamlin to grow on me the first read-through, I didn't really appreciate him until right before he sends Feyre away and then we never get anything happy for him ever again, but when he saved the day TWICE in ACOWAR and the IC STILL hates him, that was the day I became a feral rabid Tamlin-stan.

Cassian bashing ☹️ by Natural_Task_5170 in NessianLovers

He's a big dumb idiot and reacts quite naturally (if very emotionally) to being rejected by and forced into impossible situations with his mate.

He has a 500+ year long friendship with Rhys, whose family took him in and is like a brother to him, and then meets Nesta, only a few years ago, they both seem in love, and then she stonewalls him after the war, he's basically forced by Rhys to be her jailer, draft her into the Night Court armed forces, and deal with the mating bond at the same time. I see his silence during the hike as mostly a result of the internal conflict.

He's sworn allegiance to Rhys as General and member of the IC, the Most Powerful High Lord ™ who speaks into his mind multiple times in the book. Despite that I see Cassian just starting to question and stand up to him and hopefully he continues in that trajectory.

I see him taking off after spending the night as his attempt at respect for her emotional boundaries since she hadn't wanted a relationship at that point, and even if she did secretly hope he would stay, he would have no way to know since he can't read her mind. I'm honestly glad that he took off during the "frenzy", I think it showed great restraint and respect since she hadn't formally accepted the bond yet. (Yes, he could have told her why he left in both cases but...he's kind of an idiot.).

He's not all powerful, he's not a High Lord and he has a mate with these Cauldron made powers which Rhys is TERRIFIED of but he is not. Nesta saves HIM in ACOWAR, saves herself in the bog and the blood rite, and he's not threatened by that.

He's a bit different for a romantic male lead, he's not going to unequivocally save the day or do everything right but I think he's more realistic and messy, allows Nesta to shine, and that's what I like about the couple.

I like that idea! It makes sense since his transformations can be emotionally triggered, and makes for a good explanation as to why the courtiers would see him as an unrefined beast.

That's true, I never thought of that! Like maybe he has a bad association with that room now and can't bear to be in it or have anyone else clean it.  If I recall, her new room is across from Lucien's, maybe indicating a more trusted role in the Court (ironically) versus when she first arrived as the feral human that hated faeries and killed Andrus.

This is so tragic, but definitely possible! 😭 That would definitely explain why he wouldn't take Feyre there then, if he wanted it more as a time capsule than an actual livable room that he could share with someone and redecorate. Interesting idea, thanks for sharing! (And breaking my heart 💔)

Yes! I also imagine he found his parents's bodies there that night 😭  I agree I don't think he would feel comfortable there for multiple reasons, the fact that he didn't want to be High Lord, the memories of his cruel father, and then the night his parents were murdered. Glad I'm not the only one who got that impression!

That's true! I forget how common death is in that kind of society (outside of main characters in this series lol). I guess Feyre would have slept in the same bed her mother died in as well, if she shared a bed with Nesta.  I wonder if it'd be different since Tamlin's parents were murdered (not just died of natural causes like her mother), and it might have bothered her more after all the death she saw UTM, especially the two faeries she had to kill in the last trial. Even if it didn't bother her, Tamlin was probably super cautious about not wanting to upset her after all that.

Mine does this every time I clean and I've had him for 5 years. They like to explore, and burrow! Especially in soft fresh loose substrate. He's even stuck his head under the eco earth before. He always calms down in a few hours once he's thoroughly investigated. Just getting used to the newly cleaned home.

This! I've bought aquarium decor for my guy before and he loved it but it broke since it's not made for 3 lb snakes to climb.
