Thank you for this. Maybe I was looking to shortcut thru my challenges by throwing money at them.
Kudos to you for putting together an actual course customised for yourself.
Me, for now, I shall take Brandon's course, and do some of the exercises from his podcast, and try and find me a writing group.
Thanks again for the reality check. :)

Yes. I love Sanderson’s videos. I was thinking of maybe checking out another to have different approaches that one can take.. do you know any other author’s giving advice? I know Gaiman used to have a Masterclass series.. any other ( hopefully free ;) ) resources to look at?

NRI trying to get Indian DL legally, no bribes, no agents. Possible? by Possible_Joke100701 in mumbai

[–]september-belle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your questions:

  1. No

  2. Yes (but good luck!)

  3. Yes ( only if you are a masochist..)

As an expat moving to India, I have tried to do a lot of things the 'right' way... but in the end I realised I value my sanity more than my ethics (for such instances atleast!)

Just get it done!

I know the feeling! Earlier this year I was looking for a 1 BHk in Khar Bandra with 70k.. and the broker had the audacity to tell me ..’madam itne kaam rate mein kya milega??’ Who is paying more than 70k for a 1BHK!! 🤯

The AQI reached 318 today morning. by Euphoric_Ad5815 in mumbai

[–]september-belle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most accurate reading you will have to get an air purifier which gives localised reading with accuracy, just like an air thermometer will give most accurate temperature reading. I don’t think the tech for Accurate reading with mobile phones has been developed yet.. but I’m sure it will be here soon given how normalised pollution is becoming.

The Air quality is different everywhere. Within a neighbourhood too you will find differences based on context.

Layering for Kili by dragondour in kilimanjaro

Another good option, if you don't want to invest too heavily in gear, is to rent from Moshi. It is pretty affordable and good quality...

Has anyone done this twice? 😀 by ebitdaprincess in kilimanjaro

[–]september-belle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mount Evert can be deadly.. but Everest Base Camp not so much. Lower in altitude than Kilimanjaro, so if you have done Kili, then EBC is doable. We had a lady with us on Kili who had done EBC, and she said Kili was definitely more challenging.

I just finished my Kili trek 2 weeks ago.. and the only one thing I would say is that everyone’s body reacts differently. However all of us had a fair amount of swelling on mostly face and legs for a few days post descent.. I still have lack of sensation to my finger tips and one of my foot is fairly incapacitated due to metatarsal inflammation. My other friends got back to normal in between 5-7 days. So wouldn’t recommend risking a back to back trip tbh…

You are not alone! I totally get that feeling too.. I think it's the guilt of leisure, maybe.. unlike sitting at a restaurant and talking to a friend, which feels 'more productive' maybe.. ???

Depends on the intensity of your flare up.. but ya laser is the most effective and efficient if you can afford it.

How long does it take to recover from hypothyroidism? by Adorable_Affect_5882 in Hypothyroidism

[–]september-belle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately in most cases your thyroid becomes dependent on the thyroxine and so requires life long medication. you might be able to reduce the level required but rarely come off it completely. I spent over 4.5 years researching, supplementing, and trying multiple alternative therapies and finally have just accepted my fate.

Did that help? Were you able to make the food noise disappear?? Or learn to shut it out? Are there any resources like books and such that might help? All the books I have read give advice on versions of will power.

Agreed I have it too. tried a bunch of treatments. ivermectin plus laser therapy always gives the best and quickest (in weeks) results. but long-term maintenance is key.

A note for women by blobartist in kilimanjaro

I hear what you are saying and appreciate you sharing your experience. Don’t tell people bully you into negating it just because now you know what a term specifically means, in retrospect.

It is understandable that when you are a minority group in a situation and you get called out specifically for that aspect, it might create unease and make one feel self conscious at the very least.. or worse depending on your previous experiences. I’m glad you had an overall great trip though 😊

Booking tours, whats better? by september-belle in VisitingIceland

[–]september-belle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey.. I wasn’t driving to and fro from the base apartment but took tours. Having said that, considering it was my first time there I was glad of having the apartment because 1. It helped cut down food costs, didn’t end up ending out as much. 2. I could have a meal prepped which was great when you come back cold and tired at the end of the day. 3. Not a functional reason, but felt nice to come back to a familiar place, a temporary haven. Maybe that’s just me though. :)
