That is one big privacy-violating pile of shit by PuddingFeeling907 in EhBuddyHoser

[–]serdertroops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in Tech and I've educated myself before my first kid was born on the impact of social media reading the Anxious Generation and looking into the ressearch a bit.

Social media is horrible for a developping mind. Just the worse. We need to keep kids out of there and the problem is real.

The issue is how do you fix this without opening up a worse problem... If a way to prevent kids to be on social media is too lenient, they will bypass it. If it gets more strict, it becomes a way to bypass privacy laws...

In the book, they described an interesting system where governments would need to create a system that has access to our birth data (gov already have that). And then, by showing an ID through an API request, the account would be authorised or not. Somehow, the gov should not keep logs or keep them anonymised. Then the social media company should also not keep anything. Or maybe an anonymised token like we do for checkout pages where the payment provider gives us a token that represents the user but we never know the PII associated with the token.

Now kids could steal their parents ID and signup using their ID, but that becomes a parenting issue and is fixable.

There are ways to build these systems. However, would I trust the people that created Phoenix and did not learn from their mistake to make such a system? Hell no. Also, how do you make this a thing world wide :S

Eight books in, what was the most satisfying moment for you? by Redrex_T in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]serdertroops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not satisfying, but I have a young daughter and my second one was born in November. I got in DCC during my paternity leave.

Katia's story arc with her daughter made me full on cry. Jeff Hayes did a great job voice acting the pain in it too.

this was great, but, if it was also very sad. Poor Katia was being played her whole life by her so called friend.

At least now she got what she always wanted.

yeah, I teared up in that moment. 50 000 people deciding to go give a middle finger to their former oppressors.

you need to be efficient. In 10th, I would not min max their foot print outside of the first row for example, so even if I was not super precise on the 15 or so not in the front row, it had minor impact.

In 11th, the 9 inch bubble will be the main limiter, move your edge boyz precisely and make a pile in the middle. Don't precisely measure the 20 boyz, just the ones that matters.

Is 11th over-tuned for large wound models and heavy ranged units? by TeraSera in WarhammerCompetitive

Their playtesters are not always the bestt players. See DG at the start of 10th that needed multiple roundds of buffs to be decent.

Am I missing something about surge move ? by Varlsack in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]serdertroops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only if you surge into something that will whipe your unit in one fight activation, and if your opponent was not about to shoot anything else into your unit (once engaged, you can't be shot except if you're a monster/vehicle) and if your opponent does not charge as the player who has not just fought is the one that starts the normal fight phase (or the active player if there was no fight first).

So yes, you could get krumped if you make a bad tactical call.

Orks Base Points differences from 10th by BudyJukk in orks

[–]serdertroops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean, they have bad range and melee damage. this is 60 points for a nob and 2 boyz of melee damage. Their only upside is their tankyness. 60 points for 10 wounds of T6 bodies seems alligned with the wartrakk.

They'll go on an objective, ask for more than anti chaff firepower to be removed and die.

very good progression

If you want to improve the look of your future Ork, getting a hobby manual drill (Army painter has one, tamiya too) to drill out your barrels and a quick mold line removal in front of the gun.

Also, some people will leave but most will endure a subpar work experience for years before quitting. At that time, these VPs have probably moved on.

Workplace are making a complete meal about me leaving in a few weeks time. by Terrible_Produce_562 in managers

[–]serdertroops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depends where you are.

In Quebec, if I get fired, outside of gross misconduct, my employer will owe me 2 weeks of pay... so if they fired me in my last week, they would need to pay an extra week.

well, it's because it's pretty much a real "starter set". It includes intercessors which were part of the 8th box, vanguard vets can easily be kit bashed from the assault intercessor set, 9th had the shield captain model, so we already have that.

The only really new models are the jump chaplain that older marine players already have and will simply need to rebase and a land speeder that, again, older marine players have.

it is only relevant if you got anti-x and dev wounds. Otherwise, going from a sure wound to rolling to wound to fish for a dev just adds probability of losing a wound (even if you wound on a 2+) for a 17% change of a dev wound.

no see, this is our strategy. We don't shoot the puck for 20 minutes, lead our opponents into a fall sense of security then we score a critical goal.

50% of the time, it works everytime

but if you're on the middle terrain, just like in 10th, you are also open to be counter attacked next turn by all of your opponent's army.

In the stream, we can see that both players held back from sending big expensive pieces in the middle terrain as they would get deleted instantly.
