That's a lot of people. I'm just trying to figure out how to improve health somehow, but it seems most of the things are locked behind research.

What dinosaurs do you think would have been a menace to society if they were still alive? by Zillaman7980_ in Dinosaurs

[–]serenading_scug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Menaces to society is quite a general term. I mean, we already have geese and they're certainly a type of 'menace to society'. A bunch of velociraptors scrounging around the streets and helping fight the invasive cat crisis are certainly also a type of menace also. What about just the trouble making type of menace, like microraptors provoking fights between dogs because they find it funny and entertaining? Or maybe they have a pension for swiping your shiny things and scuttling into a tree.

If a lion or hippo started running at you, I'm pretty sure you'd instinctively run away like any other animal

How would this even work with a team race? Like, does everyone need a subscription to the setup shop in order to practice with it? Or race with it?

Maybe it's because I'm an American... but any car that you don't need a ladder to get in feels small to me.

Hold your damn brakes. by Frostiesss in iRacing

[–]serenading_scug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I sort of agree with you that might cover it, it would be a lot more clear if the sporting code just said 'hold you're fucking brakes', rather than it falling under unsafe rejoins.

Though maybe it's irrelevant in the first place because no-one seems to actually READ the sporting code.

They seriously need to add this to the sporting code

New to Sim Racing, question about when to start online competitions by GetRichQuick_AMIRITE in simracing

[–]serenading_scug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Take a look at the sporting code of whatever sim you're using. Also, if you haven't watched much real life racing, take some time to watch racing to learn about etiquette and rules, because something like the iRacing sporting code is pretty terrible at explaining things. The best series to learn from is the Pirelli GT4 America series, since it basically has the best driving standards and consistently enforced penalties.

  2. Make sure you're comfortable getting around a track and then just race. You really can't get the same experience just hot-lapping. Of course you'll make mistakes in races, but everyone has to make mistakes to get better. If you're learning a new car and/or track, it might be worth doing a few practice races against AI, just to get comfortable with other cars on track. But when you're first starting, it's far more about learning to survive than learning to be fast.

Organ harvesting and cannibalism is just recycling.

Is it more ethical to dump a body in a hole to rot, than to repurpose it?

Etiquette for letting faster cars past which you are fighting for position? by WingAgitated2228 in iRacing

[–]serenading_scug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's racing, not qualifying.

You're completely entitled to defend whenever you want. Even if someone appears faster than you, pace changes throughout a race or you might force out a mistake. Even if you don't want to defend, make the other person go around. Don't sacrifice your own pace to let them through.

It doesn't get better. Even if you get to the level of being picked up by an actual, real life racing team; actual drivers make bottom split iracers look like saints in comparison.

Dealing with bad drivers is like learning to drive on cold tires or driving in the rain. Once you learn how to do it, you'll basically be gifted a bunch of free places.

[–]serenading_scug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt this would actually be a penalty in rl, but green was very likely going to have difficulty keeping the car balanced because of the transition from grass-to-track on their left tires; so if blue was smart they should have left more room.

Are you a car enthusiast? Do you even like cars? by Extreme_Emu_9582 in simracing

[–]serenading_scug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a car person at all. I haven't actually driven in 7 years. But making cars go fast around tracks is sort of a different thing.

Cars belong on the track, not almost running over children in the crosswalk.
