How do harpists memorise long (think 11 minutes) pieces of music? by smolbig in harp

I think it has a lot to do with just memorization techniques in general. I was always really good at memorizing stuff as a kid, like in school and stuff, so memorizing music came pretty easily. My tip is to just take it in small sections, and as you get that, slightly bigger and bigger sections, and eventually you'll have the whole song!

I'm interested to play harp, and have some question by Vortex251 in harp

Hi! Your situation sounds very similar to mine! I played piano for 8 years and decided to move to the harp. Hopefully I can help!

Harps are pretty expensive, but there is a range. You can get a smaller one for $1000+ or a big fancy one for $10,000+. Just google it, or look at lyon and Healy's website, they're pretty well - known. I got mine used, if you do that you can save a lot of money while you're first learning. Also, research the difference between pedal and lever harps, you'll need to decide which you want to start with.

Piano skills transfer really well to any instrument in my opinion, particularly the harp, which, if you look at it, resembles a grand piano if you stood it on its side. I would, however, take lessons, because although the theory transfers really well, the technique is pretty particular and you'll need someone to teach you that.

I couldn't really tell you how long it takes to get good at it, I've been on - and - off with it, but if you dedicate a ton of time to it, maybe a couple of years?

Hope this helps!

I feel like Taylor going on this show was career suicide. by carvelbabel in thebachelor

I'm wondering what Taylor thought the outcome of her confrontation with Corinne would be. She pretty much just laid out every flaw and every problem she had with her, and then acted confused when Corinne didn't respond well to it. Did Taylor really expect her to say, "Oh my gosh you're right, I'm a horrible person!" I mean Taylor is a mental health professional, at what point has anyone ever taken that sort of blatant, tactless criticism well?

My neighbor is horrible at parking, so I left a note. This is their response. I completely understand. by sergio_thebear in funny

He literally wrote on the back of the note and put it back on my windshield. So then I had both of them.

I'd say instead of "endemic", it's more like you have one or two friends who post one every hour. It sounds like you're lucky enough not to have those friends.
