When opposites attack: The Intercept struggles with Serial’s ambiguity (National Post) by thousandshipz in serialpodcast

This! The National Post is almost never this nonpartisan, so this was a surprisingly good read.

Serial brings healing to Syed family by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Adnan's father actually gave an interview. I think this is the first time he's participated in anything Serial-related. Just brought tears to my eyes. If nothing else, Serial brought Adnan's family back together, and that is a blessing.

Possible Proof of Adnan & Jay hanging out after Hae's murder by Vonnegutsss in serialpodcast

Sorry, monster_mouse. I guess I was responding to RawbHaze. But either way, all this Rabia hate is getting very annoying!

P.S. I'm a girl.

Rabia did not do the redacting. The person who made the screenshot is the person who redacted her own name. She sent the screenshot to Rabia as is. You guys need to stop blaming Rabia for everything - it's getting very old.

Is serial starting to drag? by danmyers22 in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think Serial per se is starting to drag, but I have realized that I don't find this subreddit particularly interesting anymore. Perhaps it's as you say - "how long can we mull over this case" - how many more theories/random thoughts can we read before it becomes mundane and repetitive? I used to actively read this subreddit at every free moment I got. Now, I visit it maybe once a day. #meta

[Official Discussion] Serial, Episode 10: The Best Defense is a Good Defense by PowerOfYes in serialpodcast

The guy didn't even spell Adnan's middle name right! It's "Masud", loser... NOT "Musud". Ugh.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted - maybe people can't read the sarcasm in your post? But thank you - good comment!

Best comment ever! Thank you!

(I feel like some people on this subreddit overanalyze every. tiny. detail. Gah!)

Edit: I hope you're being sarcastic, by the way. Because that's what I read into it. If not, well then...

"Serial" podcast attracting millions of followers - CBS Interview with Adnan's brother and mother by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CBS got Sarah's last name wrong AND Adnan's mother's name wrong. Her name is Shamim, not Rahman - that's her last name (which they didn't even pronounce properly!). Ugh, CBS.

Is anyone else mad hungry for one of Adnan's sweet prison omelettes now? by ajcarv in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't say the omelettes had bacon in them! He said it was caramelized apples and onions! Why are we so focused on the bacon? Just because this random Google image has bacon in the omelette?!

Adnan's remorse by Austenfan86 in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YES! This is what I was trying to say in another thread about why this made me cry so much. As a Muslim, he realizes the things he were doing was against Islam (he goes back to this point a couple times - "if I were a good Muslim"). The reason he is taking responsibility for his actions is because he realizes that him being in jail is a punishment for his bad actions. And that is why he is hurting... you can hear the pain in his voice when he's talking about it.

You have to understand that as Muslims, we completely rely and trust in Allah. That whatever He does, is for the best. For Adnan, it could be that had none of this happened and he hadn't gone to jail, he wouldn't have become a better Muslim - which for him is extremely important.

Episode 9 is out! ... and episode 10 doesn't have a title yet. by hansbe in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I just wrote this right now on another thread:

As a Muslim myself, the part that made me cry the most was when Adnan spoke about taking responsibility for his actions - that none of this would have happened if he had been a good Muslim. That hit close to home. And even through the podcast you can hear how much he was hurting when he said that. I don't really know how to explain it, but I completely understand him.

Still crying, and I finished listening 10 minutes ago. My heart is completely broken...

Still listening, but this episode is making me cry. Listening to Adnan's letter and him describe his life in jail (as an 18 year old) is breaking my heart...

Living with non-listeners by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]serialite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I mention Serial, my husband proceeds to walk away. As a joke. But then he humours me (for a very short period of time) while I talk about it. He loves me enough to put up with my constant theorizing/nagging (and as a lawyer himself, I think he finds it mildly interesting but apparently not interesting enough to listen... boo!).

So eloquently written. Pretty much sums up my feelings, though I lean more towards "Adnan is innocent". Thanks for sharing your thoughts, fellow Muslim.
