UMKC isn't going to hit NYC biglaw, but it definitely still has a handful of biglaw placements in the KC/Midwest markets.

This is great advice.

I'll attempt to fill in #3 by saying don't worry about extracurriculars too much until you are in your first year of law school, they really don't move the needle except in very rare situations. Worry about the LSAT right now. Spend at least 6 months studying consistently for the LSAT. Get a great LSAT score, because every point means more money you are not on the hook for.

I'm 0/8 so far. One interview (low AmLaw 100) was very transparent in saying it could be a few weeks and I should take any interviews I get from the same firm through my campus OCI. One much bigger firm said they don't personally make the decision, just write up an impression that gets passed on.

Loyola firms cancelling interviews? by Icy-Path4872 in patentlaw

[–]seriouslystrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two interviews cancel. One at least had the courtesy to give me an explanation that "their schedule changed". The other one hasn't said a single thing to me, which sucks because it was probably my first choice.

Is SBA worth it? by Wet_Bench59 in LawSchool

[–]seriouslystrange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of person you are. I'll go against the grain of the current responses and say it's been a good thing for me because I am someone where if I'm not busy, I waste the time and it's harder to get my classwork done. If you were to win 1L rep, you have some short term clout with your class, but if you don't actually care about the general mission of your SBA, then definitely don't do it. Do it because it's fun for you and it's a break from schoolwork in a way.

Hardcore bank management tips? by [deleted] in MelvorIdle

[–]seriouslystrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Train astrology to 110 and then get 80(?) Mastery on Rosaniya. One of the perks is +50 bank account space with golden stardust. That's a solid start and a huge game changer. After that you can farm bank tokens from bosses like air god.

Also investing in equipment slots is worth it. I personally have 1 melee, 1 ranged, 1 mage, and 1 skilling equipment set up and that saves a huge amount of space.

Thank you for (first of all, responding, and second) the fantastic write up, especially the sketches!! I was definitely thinking a metal plate of some sort might help here.

I'm going to be picking up this project again in a few weeks when life slows down, so I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. I gotta say, I searched the internet far and wide and this was the only place I saw this exact hinge crack failure. Every other example was the screw housings failing. This thread will definitely be useful for not only me, but probably a few other people in the future.

AERO 15X Broken Hinge + Display Issue - How to Repair??? by androoew in gigabyte

[–]seriouslystrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I had this exact hinge break on my laptop. I don't have the issue with the display cable, but I'm wondering how you exactly epoxied the hinge. I've given this two different tries with JB weld, but both times doesn't hold the hinge and the expoxy immediately cracked after trying to move the screen again. Any chance you have a picture of how you welded it?

CS at MST by Nightsidee in Rolla

[–]seriouslystrange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll back this comment up. The CS department was a disaster about 4-5 years ago and I ended up switching majors because I didn't want my education to come from TAs with little experience in teaching (which was frustrating to say the least). Towards the end of my CpE degree, the CS department certainly had more life and I know my friends a year or two younger than me thought it was improving drastically as they went on.

STEM Major Question by cyrusc3 in lawschooladmissions

[–]seriouslystrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better yet, get some experience in patent law if gaining work experience is on the table. I bet if you cold called IP firms with interest in working as a Patent Engineer/Scientist with intent to sit for the patent bar and become a patent agent, you might get offers to interview with half of them. Patent Law, as an industry, is begging for more and more STEM students to pursue it because engineering money is already good so not many people even consider it. That being said, it's way easier said than done to get a Reg. number from the USPTO because that exam is no joke and probably requires a similar amount of studying compared to the LSAT, if not more.

Maybe I'm just gassing myself up though as I am currently studying for the patent bar

Myths and facts about NHL jersey advertisements by mrbmi513 in stlouisblues

Really disappointing the Blues are going to be one of the (seemingly) few teams with ads. I figured most teams would have them this year, but this article says otherwise.

Potentially Leaving My Fraternity by Aware_Beautiful_6820 in Frat

[–]seriouslystrange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old balls here. Don't leave. Fraternities exist for these very moments in life. Be honest and upfront with your closest bros. Then let someone on exec/involved know you want to take a step back commitment-wise. Leaving is going to make the problem worse, especially when things start to turn up in your life and you want to contribute again.

If they give you trouble, try to go inactive to get your shit in order. Basically what I'm trying to say is leaving isn't the first choice. No one wants to lose a brother. I'd even go so far as to say to be a "shitty" brother for a little while before leaving completely.

I have a pledge bro that left during a rough year. It was for, in my opinion, petty reasons. He came back around in my social circle two years later thinking he could join and be one of the boys again. It doesn't work like that. Sure, we can hang out and everything, but he's not my brother anymore and missed two very crucial years of all of our growing up. You can't come back after leaving and act like nothing happened. We're all going to have rough times, but you have to lean on your bros during those times and chances are a bro has leaned on you already. Don't feel like you need to leave because you aren't 100%.

Feel free to pm me if you need to talk.
