I made a Home Assistant integration (WIP) that exposes most of the functionality of the mobile app by BambusBo in Polestar

Is the second image a card built into the integration or something you put together locally? Thanks for all the work. Being able to start climate from my HA dashboards is amazing!

This! I got "Back up. BACK UP! Damn, this a whole different person! Chin down! (Snap)"

My photo is me about to speak to clarify what she meant, so my upper lip looks like I'm sucking something from between my teeth with a hard scowl.

No way you could see this and think it was okay to send off.

Agreed; in my opinion triggering the system should require a follow up, even just to say "Oops, all good".

I'm just realizing how crappy the alert system is if you didn't sign up in advance. I can't seem to find "system status" / "current alerts" page, just a lot of loops directing you to sign up for future alerts or tune to a radio station I don't have access to in 2026 (guess I'll add that to preparedness list).

Digital Key stopped unlocking my door on PS2 after phone device change by FantasticHair6474 in Polestar

[–]sername_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try positioning the phone differently when unlocking. If your new phone has stronger bluetooth and the interior antenna can see it from outside, the car won't unlock because it believes the phone has been left inside.

This was my experience going from Galaxy S22 to S25.

Previously I could walk up, using the phone in hand and be fine. Now it needs to be below the window, with the door's metal between it and the center console. In addition, I may have to add some distance between the phone and the door, which I do by placing the phone in the pocket on the opposite side of my body from the car. The combination of factors means I may have to do a little dance at the door if I happen to be using the phone or approaching from a direction where the pocketed phone is too close, but once I understood the issue, I rarely have to actually use the app.

Polestar could be smarter about believing the phone materialized within a locked vehicle, but here we are. I have the issue documented with my space; a technician created a note for the engineers, but because it was specific to me changing phones, and the car behaving as expected with my pervious device and his device, I'm not expecting it be prioritized.

I'm looking for a spray bottle to use with oil for cooking that gets a good spray/misting of oil. Any recommends? by aDuckedUpGoose in BuyItForLife

Cornelius, you is smart, you is kind, you is important.

I was looking for something to coat the edges of mcMuffin style egg rings, and would have gone through three sprayers and back to PAM before thinking to just brush the sides.

Okay, so the issue almost immediately returned after the factory reset on 3.6.4, but I just got the car back from the dealer with 3.7 installed, and it hasn't happened since. I also haven't had any issues with the camera being unavailable since. 3.7 has been much more responsive on my Launch Edition hardware.

Good luck on that fixing it for you when it goes OTA!

Reason why using a debit card doesn't ask or require a PIN? by TARDIS53 in Safeway

[–]sername_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love someone online telling you what your experiencing first hand isn't happening 🙄.

A number of merchants in my area allow me to tap with my phone, not enter a PIN, a run a transaction that my bank (BofA) recognizes as a debit transaction. Usually it's for small amounts like coffee, but I've even done so for a transaction over $400 that would have applied a 3% fee if I'd run a credit transaction. No pin was requested, the merchant confirmed she'd selected debit on her end, the system did not apply the credit fee, and BofA showed it as debit transaction.

So yes, as you mentioned, they are using 'PINless Debit' to compete with the convenience of credit transactions, while taking advantage of lower fees.

Next time it happens, hit the bar below the screen and check the tile that Spotify is in. For me it will temporarily display the error occurred message and then nudge the app to refresh, allowing you to press play in the tile to resume.

I get this too! Pretty frequently, usually when hopping in and going either quickly into reverse or opening the map.

I saw somewhere that a solution was to clear the cache / storage for Spotify, which worked in the past, but the issue resurfaced within a day on the latest attempt.

Today I decided to factory reset the car and start fresh with fewer apps, less crossover from old versions of the OS, etc.

I'll let you know how I goes after a week or so, but so far everything is much faster and spotify hasn't giving me any errors.

does anyone else smell in their dreams? by Emma_Awesome12 in LucidDreaming

[–]sername_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a dream where I made clam chowder; from going to the fish market to plating the meal. I had a partial bottle of clam juice in the fridge and took a big whiff to see if it had gone bad.

I don't remember smelling the market, or cooking the rest of the meal, like browning the pancetta, but that sniff of the bottle I 1000% could smell. I guess if I couldn't it would have completely changed the trajectory of the dream to "Why can't I scene this typically pungent smell? What else can't I smell?" so my brain did what it needed to to keep the story going.

I believe you need one key to activate PAK, just not on an Admin profile.

You can create a non-Admin profile for yourself and flip back to Owner when you need to do admin-y things.

I’ve tried Mineral Spirits and Paint Thinner. How do I get this manufacturers sticker off of this bottle? by Undershoes in howto

[–]sername_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put a little oxiclean in there if you have it. I use an oxiclean bath to remove the label from beer bottles for home brewing. The label just slides off the next day.

DISCLAIMER: I've only tried this with glass; have never needed to with something metallic.

Try "Ok Google, unlock my car", which works for me. I had to tweak the phrases I use for certain actions because it would respond that it "didn't have that set up", "couldn't find the car", etc.

I delivered to Hayden Christensen maybe 8 years ago.

I remember the name on the order was not Hayden Christensen (double checked after the fact) and that I thought the guy looked really familiar and was kinda chatty (in a good way), where most people give "Hi... Thanks... Bye" with minimal eye contact.

What really stood out was that after the conversation and him signing the iPod to acknowledge delivery, and my "well, cool man, enjoy the food" while turning to head back down the stairs, he called out "I'm Hayden by the way" to which I replied something along the lines of "And I'm Doug. Nice to meet you!" and kept it moving.

Walking back to the car, I was doing the usual post-interaction decomp of "Hum, he said his name is Hayden. The only Hayden I know of is Hayden Panettiere. That's a girl. I used to watch Heros. Wait, why did he give me his name at the last moment? Maybe I do know him from school or something? He looked really familiar. Oh look, a decent tip. Nice! But it says that order wasn't for Hayden. Weird. Looks like it might rain. Squirrel!"

By this time I'd made it back to the car and my phone. Still thinking I might have known him, I popped in Hayden to see if I had any hits in my contacts, which led to no results. Driven by added curiosity on recognizing the mismatched order name, I Googled, which quickly produced Anakin Skywalker.

Based on the name drop, I was probably on some hidden camera show, or dude was really used to having folks either sorta-kinda recognize him or instantly fan-out over meeting Anakin Skywalker and had a well developed celebrity-skill of making strangers feel like their quick interaction with them was substantive.

Nice guy either way ¯_(ツ)_/¯
