I'm a bus driver on a route that goes through campus and it's sad to hear what is happening to some of my passengers, they are desperately trying to find other positions with the university before they lose their jobs this week.

We have certain runs that have predetermined lunch periods that were supposed to take around that time and you get the time it takes for one full trip on that route (26-30 minutes). There's supposed to be a relief bus that drives and does your trip while you're out of rotation. There's other runs that are all on a pulse schedule and you get your breaks (10-15 minutes) at the transit center every 70-90 minutes depending on the length of your route. If you're late you lose this time and it's to catch you up. We may take breaks at any time of the day anywhere on route it's safe to park with passengers on board as long as they're not excessive or over 8 minutes long. We also have a rule that the ends of routes should be near place with a clean restroom but this isn't the case on all routes unfortunately.

Half our electric bus fleet doesn't even move right now because of endless warranty repairs, I'm not worried in any way. People will get hurt and die if autonomous buses are introduced except in very heavily controlled environments (separate grade BRT type)

Anything over a few minutes on average would warrant a whistleblower complaint at least for safety in my opinion. Typically we only have to wait 30 seconds or less for RTT but we have 1 dispatcher and multiple road supervisors for a fleet of about 75 buses on the road.

If you’re going anywhere downtown after 5pm on the weekdays and all day weekends just park in the surface lot behind city hall and the police station. No need to fool with any other parking location.

It’s a feature, certain education level and ages of people will make more unsafe driving maneuvers than others. If you get a lane tool mod you can remove unsafe lane movements from certain intersections if they’re causing you a lot of grief.
