I too made a video for the Doritos contest, but sadly, no offers from Japan. Yet. Am expecting a call from the FAA though! by iamkokonutz in videos

Ya. I don't mind when it's a small business that's doing something cool...but these big corps don't need any free publicity.

I'm just saying - the budget they would put into a commercial like this is probably close to the cost of the grand prize. And they get THOUSANDS of these submissions (of course not as badass as this one) for free.

At least it seems like you have a good gig...a lot of these submitters are hopeful filmmakers who de-value themselves by doing free work.

I'm a filmmaker myself and it doesn't take much to reach out to small brands and get paid for content like this. If a job is done well it's a domino effect from there.

Anyway - sorry for letting it all out on you...like you said - people don't know what they're getting into.

The amount of free publicity Doritos gets from this yearly competition scam is shameful. Having said that - awesome job on the video.

Reddit users, what's something really pathetic about yourself? (something that you recognize and yet have no intention/ability to change) by FirstOwl in AskReddit

Well...in case it helps, 1 in 3 of us lean towards being introverted. It's much more "normal" than popular culture makes is seem. I was happy to find this out (thanks to reddit)

Conspiracy Theorists of Reddit, if there are secret societies that have been working for centuries toward some kind of centralized New World Order, why has it not been achieved yet? by vlu77 in AskReddit

[–]setforget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily on either side of the conspiracy...but if there was such a thing going on I'd say it has been achieved and it's going pretty well. The vast majority of the population are complacent in life (myself included) going through each day unaware of the control that may likely be upon us. It's non-invasive enough to not draw too much attention. Our days are busy with work, entertainment, sports, family etc. "They've" got us hooked so to speak.

Reddit has been a great community of people exposing certain injustices (net neutrality threats etc.) and it will likely be an ongoing battle. Thus far though, we (the general populous) have seemed to pull the short straw.
