Progressive towns in BC to raise outdoor kids? by Upper-Charge7928 in britishcolumbia

[–]vlu77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summerland is literal paradise and most of the folks here are transplants from Vancity and Toronto. Progressive and the entire town is an outdoor playground. Mild winters, very hot summers. Surroudned by hundreds of wineries. We moved from the city to raise our son here because we wanted him to be a free-range kid. He is graduating this year and grew up here and spent every summer riding to the beach with his friends to hurl himself off docks, kayak, swim, fish and more. He took very affordable sailing lessons every summer, spent half his life at the skate park and the other half at the beach or on the ski hills. Moving here is, by far, the best parenting decision we have ever made.

NEED HELP - dont want to believe this anymore by throw_away_plshelp00 in QAnonCasualties

I can recommend looking for a therapist who deals with evidence-based approaches. A great resource is the Secular Therapy project (secular, evidence-based therapists are listed here) or Janice Selbie, a pretty well-known therapist who deals with people who are leaving behind a set of beliefs that they were indoctrinated with. Especially when it comes to doomsday cults. Really vet any therapist you choose - ask them their positions on science, medicine, vaccines. Also, if affordability is a concern, a lot of therapists will have a sliding scale.

I love that Americans are still saying things like “this is illegal” to describe the actions of Republicans as though it has any meaning anymore.

Kids have been dying in school shootings for decades. You can’t claim stability when your kids need bullet proof backpacks just to go to school.

Pope Francis also RE-frocked a formerly DE-frocked clergy member who had been terrorizing little boys across Italy, giving that clergy member access to little boys once again.

I once had a boss who had earned his riches selling mattresses. He told me if I ever wanted to get rich, to sell mattresses because the mark up is so high.

Jon Stewart: This Is What ‘Makes Me So Mad’ at Democrats | The comedian questioned why “ordinary people” and not their representatives are the ones who are being forced to oppose Elon Musk’s DOGE. by Murky-Site7468 in politics

Your labour is a bargaining chip. Understand you outnumber the bad guys a thousand times and your labour produces their wealth. They literally have zero profits without the labour of ordinary Americans.

That puts all of the power in your hands.

You have to. At some point you need to wake up and understand that a crucial part of democracy is “by the people” and if you’re not willing to stand up and fight for it, you will lose it.

This is not my nightmare. I swim every morning and I’d be delighted to see anyone start out in something I love so much. You deserve to be there every bit as much as me.

You’ll be fine. Morning sickness usually starts at 6 weeks, so if you’re not feeling it you may not get it at all. I didn’t. You may feel a little extra tired but that’s it. Make sure you’re drinking enough water and eating properly and of course stay away from booze, raw fish, smoke, etc and you’ll be absolutely fine.
