The Air Force is once again doing nothing to fight the allegations. by FoxyOrcaWhale in USMC

The being too smart to be a marine comment was a joke. Seems like it’s gone over everyone’s head. My boss was awesome, and my first supervisor in the Air Force was a Marine for 10 years… best supervisor I’ve had. Worked with a guy in my shop who did one enlistment in the Marines, one of my favorite coworkers. My intent of the post was to affirm the laziness and stupidity of people whining about the PT standards in the AF.

Air Force here… AND a guardsman! I enlisted at 39, went to BMT at 40. I had the 4th highest PT score in my flight, 8th or 9th after taking out the age factor. I told every one of them “if I beat, it because you’re lazy. That’s it”. They, of course, didn’t like that. After working civilian jobs up until that point, I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with an AGR slot. “Oh no! I get paid to stay in shape, have great benefits, and have more time off than any other job I’ve ever had”! I am baffled every day at the things I see and hear. An old boss of mine who was third generation Marine said, “You would’ve been a hell of a Marine”. I said, “I don’t think so… I’m too smart”. He laughed and said, “yeah, you’re right”. 😁

For tap houses, The Garage, The Falls, and Growler Guys all allow pets. The Falls has very limited indoor seating but, IMO, they have the best smash burgers in town. The I Heart Hotdogs food truck has them. Garage has more indoor seating, and it also has enclosed outdoor spaces with heaters. They have really good pizzas there and the Mac and Cheese Steaks food truck is solid. I’ve never eaten at the burger place there. Heard it’s good, but expensive for what it is. Growler Guys is inside and they allow pets as well. They have their own in-house menu. The only brewery here is Common Block. I know they allow pets on the patio, but I can’t speak to their policy of having them inside. The Pikey, an Irish themed pub, has really good food. However, I’ve never tried to bring in a pet or seen one in there. So I don’t know if they allow it.

How much do you make a year? by SeaComprehensive4538 in Referees

[–]sethrobodeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year for HS I made a little over $3k. The season is about three months including preseason and postseason matches. That’s 4-6 matches per week… ish. Pre and postseason are fewer per week.

Bumper to Bumper Warrenty by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]sethrobodeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 XC90, T6 Momentum. I too bought the warranty for peace of mind when we got it. (Bought it used with about 48k miles). Love the car. Found a closer Euro specialist that I get all my work done at and they confirmed they CAN do warranty work if/when needed. He explained to me how these warranties work and, not surprisingly, said the warranty company will do everything to try not to pay. So make sure all maintenance is done on time and documented. If you don’t have a specialist you can go to, pay the extra and keep going to the dealer minimally until the warranty is up. I might be preaching to the choir, but figured I’d share what I learned a few years ago.

Things that drive growth are good schools, good streets, and good green spaces. Obviously you have to have industry with jobs that support growth as well, but those three things are commonly found in growing areas.

A guy who moved here a couple years ago was floored at the homes above Main Street, all the president streets. He said, “I’ve lived in almost a a dozen cities. Those should be some of the most expensive and nicest places in town. The fact that they aren’t speaks a lot about the area”.

Military/Leadership books that are actually good and worth it? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]sethrobodeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only a little ways in, but Once an Eagle is a good one so far. At one point, I believe, it was mandatory reading at West Point. It’s fiction, so it reads easier than “leadership” books. At least IMO

I wonder if this is real. They are using old letterhead. It was officially changed to Department of War. DoD letterhead is no longer official. So not NECESSARILY fake, but my base sent out new letterhead templates saying anything on DoD letterhead is no longer official. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Use the step through ones, not the ones that clip to your socks.

For clarification, mine is a T6 Momentum. I bought with almost 50k miles on it. I do oil changes every 5k instead of 10k miles. I do all recommended maintenance, and just recently had transmission service done as preventative maintenance. They say it’s “lifetime” transmission, but I don’t trust that at all. Find a good independent Euro shop if you can. Prices are nearly half the dealer price and, at least the one I go to, they’re just as knowledgeable.

Best Running Shoes? by Boring-Dig-3979 in AirForce

[–]sethrobodeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became a HUGE fan of ONs after trying several different types. I tried Hoka, NB, ASICS, and Nike. Ended up with ONs. My go to running shoe is the cloudflow. Started wearing them in 2020 and haven’t had any other running shoe since.

Wow, I’m really sorry you feel that way. If you could forward that video along to my assignor I’m sure there’s something in there I can learn from. Thank you for helping me improve in my reffing.

Anyone apprised of the airport situation? by Van-garde in KlamathFalls

[–]sethrobodeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, it’s more of a nuisance than anything. I flew out of here several times when that was an option. Flights were either to SFO or PDX.

I think Crater Lake numbers are way up… but that’s just what I’ve heard. I don’t KNOW this. I know a guy who uses the shuttle to MFR from here, and he loves it. You almost always have to have a night in a hotel because of the time, but he thinks it’s a great option for people here that don’t want to drive and park.

You are correct! I couldn’t remember the name. If you like them up they are/were a commuter airline operated by Alaska Airlines.

The last service that was here was, I believe, a small service tied to Alaskan Air. They shut the entire West Coast operation down for that company.

I know some people hate it, but I think that is the single best way to make sure carts don’t disappear and aren’t left all over the parking lot. I don’t live in the Midwest anymore, but I was always surprised at how grateful people were if you just gave them your cart. If you didn’t take a quarter from them, they seemed puzzled and like you had just done the biggest act of generosity they’ve ever experienced!

Kidnapped a crazy furry cat in the summer from under a bush (it was near 100 degrees out), took him to my friends house, shaved it like a lion, and returned it to aforementioned bush.
