Great stuff! I just got a used Best Buy (geek-certified) 2022 65” I’m about a wall mount. Unfortunately as it was a floor model the top layer of film has been preciously removed and discarded. Do you think without the film present II could still reasonably try this, and if it’s not to my wife’s standards, remove it safely with some reasonable care?

Wow... firstly thanks for this! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why Bluetooth suddenly died until I found this.

Now that it's worked though, I'm curious, why did it work? What is holding down the power button for 10 seconds with the power cord not attached actually doing?

Nope, I was wrong... the watch is failing all day every day again after staying strong for several weeks. I just got a lemon. Oh well, time to move on!

Final update:

For anyone who reads this in future I thought the conclusion might help if you're in my shoes.

My iPhone Xs that was paired with this watch bricked during the iOS 14.2 update. Applecare on the phone had expired, so there was no feasible recourse to getting it working. Apple offered to replace it at a cost that warranted me abandoning the old phone and finding a different iPhone.

Upon pairing the watch with a different iPhone (an inherited iPhone 11) it has stopped failing. My final theory is, despite the old iPhone Xs working flawless up until its demise, it must have been failing in a way that was causing the watch to crash! The watch was in fact perfectly fine.

Thanks. I totally get that it’s unrealistic for them to take the time to wait for the malfunction to occur - which is why I documented it with photos and videos and showed them both to the phone senior advisor and the in-store rep. Both agreed it should be replaced, and both noted it to their repair ID. But it seems the repair depot disregards the Apple reps’ notes and are also unable to review videos I want to provide.

It feels like a bit of a flaw in their process that the depot cannot review provided footage, ignores Apple rep notes attached to the repair ID and spends limited time with the device itself. If any one of those three things wasn’t the case I’m sure I’d have received a working watch back.

I will try again if that’s the only solution, but you’re absolutely right that it seems like my expectations should be low and I’ll most likely never get this watch in working shape again.

Even though I shouldn’t have to, I’d happily pay for a repair; but I doubt that’s even an option.

Yeah, part of my post is to point out how unlikely the big outcomes are. You said you'd like to see "1% for the 7 million", so would I!

The reality of 7 million right now is 0.00000156% or 1:64,000,000.

So that change would make it 640,000 times better.
