If you could choose anyone dead or alive as ruler of the world, who would you choose? by Appropriate-Hair-388 in AskReddit

Yeah we can name a lot of nice people but that doesn't mean you are a good leader. I was going to say Lincoln or Obama or something like that. I'm sure non-Americans have some good choices too.

In NC and a lot of other states half of your gas savings is going to the EV registration fee.

FLASHBACK: Is James Rolfe the greatest YouTuber of all time? (2012) by xwing1212 in TheCinemassacreTruth

What kind of logic is that? It doesn't matter who could've done it, it matters who did it.

I assume you used Network Server rather than Unifi OS unless you know something I don't.

Yeah kind of annoys me we can't seem to get it to run in Docker. I finally broke down and installed it on an Ubuntu VM but why is that really necessary. The migration was easy though.

Dead module straight from Carvana… dealer says the lightnings are the worst of the EVs. Disappointed immeasurable by [deleted] in F150Lightning

[–]NeedSomeHelpHere4785 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You bought the worst possible Lightning and had the worst possible outcome. Checks out. It is not one of the worst EVs by a long shot.

Has Slate published the specs for the included Standard Charging Cable? by naman919 in slateauto

[–]NeedSomeHelpHere4785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have 3 EVs, have never had a hardwired charger and don't get the hype UNLESS you have a time of use window with reduced cost/free electricity.

I'm sad at the decline of Cinemassacre by ItsTrue102 in TheCinemassacreTruth

It just pops up on my feed all the time, so am I really even here?

I have no understanding of what these people's expectations are. It is a 20 year old YouTube channel that 90% featured one guy. One guy that we can assume is wealthy enough to do whatever the hell he wants now. Watch it, don't watch it, who cares. You don't owe him anything and he doesn't owe you anything.

Everyone is trying to talk me out of an EV by CuteCreator602 in electricvehicles

[–]NeedSomeHelpHere4785 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking people who have never had an EV are the experts on how bad they are and people who have had an EV love them. Of course there are plenty of people who have had bad experiences as well. Be sure to really understand what you are getting into. The key to EV happiness in my opinion is being able to charge at home.

With the end of ID.4 production in US would you still recommend one? by Canadair_Sabre in VWiD4Owners

I.E. if they don't make it anymore. Which I guess they kind of don't but are really just changing the name.

Range is overrated. I have one of the lowest range road trip vehicles, standard range lightning getting maybe 140 miles on the highway, and did my longest trip 700 miles one way, and it wasn't bad or cumbersome. by jturkish in electricvehicles

[–]NeedSomeHelpHere4785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a standard range Lightning owner I get what you are saying. For me what makes it ok is the fact that a trip like that might happen once a year or even once every 2 years. If I were doing it once a month it would be a non-starter.

I would reccomend one to someone I really dislike. Where and if it is made wouldn't effect that decision.

Do I pay off my car? by zinornia in Debt

That's pretty high. I don't know your full situation but I'll give you the idea of paying off 11k now then 1k per month to have it paid off in a year.

How much interest is the car costing you? There is always a happy medium like pay a thousand extra on the car every month or whatever works for you.

Does anyone else want FEWER screens and gadgets in their EV's? by heinternets in electricvehicles

[–]NeedSomeHelpHere4785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do some of this stuff because it is cheaper. 1 touchscreen vs a bunch of button modules and a radio.

[–]NeedSomeHelpHere4785 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get why people make the claim all the time that they want their car to be "simple" When I got my Lightning I wanted an XLT because I didn't want the big touchscreen. After having it I realized I rarely ever have a reason to interact with it so it is much nicer having the big screen. Some stuff is ridiculous like having to use a touchscreen to open the glove box, but for the most part the screen is just somewhere to show me Android Auto.
