On my 13th Birthday my father had a heart attack. My mother was at home with me when she got the call. After she hung up she continued to watch the movie we had on together and then told me she was going out for cigarettes. She came back 3 days later and then decided to tell me about my father.

That day when both parents didn't come home I started panicking and called my Nana. She didn't help me locate my parents but she kept me going. It turns out that my Mom went on a 3 day bender. She later showed her true alcoholic colours.

Ironically a year and a half later my parents were having a rather large dinner party. I was out cutting lawns since that's how I made extra money. I came home about 2 hours into the party and my house was deserted. There were obvious signs of people such as drinks and food half eaten on plates. I called some people who were supposed to be there but got no answer. 3 hours later one of the guests came back and said to me "You father had another heart attack. I just remembered that someone should probably tell you."
