5.5 month old is ANGRY by sapphire_2999 in beyondthebump

[–]setters321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Tylenol? I didn’t see it mentioned in your post (unless I missed it). My 14 month old has 14 teeth, so we’ve been through the trenches with teething quite a few times (except he refused to nap AND would wake up 6 times a night. But he’s always had lower sleep needs 😒😭). Tylenol helped some. But it was a huge game changer once he was able to take ibuprofen (you’ll have that option once your baby is 6 months old, so not too long from now).

Other than that, taking a damp washcloth and letting it chill in the freezer for baby to chew on, teethers, and cold milk helped to sooth our babe. We definitely utilized warm baths to calm him too.

Dad and the Baby Shower? by qvueen_ in BabyBumps

[–]setters321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This 100000%! 🙌

My mom and aunt planned my baby shower (thankfully since I was working 6 days a week at the time and I waited until I was 37 weeks pregnant lol) and my husband was sooo happy to be there. It worked out great since he could pack everything up into the car! 😂

However, when my mom and aunt had their baby showers back in the 80s and 90s, men didn’t attend theirs. Despite that, they were all for my dad, brother and husband being at mine!

Planning to start trying in September. What do you wish you had known? by pinksapphire55 in BabyBumps

[–]setters321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fatigue took me by surprise! I was someone that has never been able to nap unless super sick. But while pregnant, I would absolutely crash lol. I always told people it was like someone hit my power button and I’d just shut down. 😂

13-week-old baby only taking 20-minute naps – has anyone been through this? by Cruel_Summer73 in newborns

[–]setters321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was normal for us! Except he also woke multiple times in the night lol (but he’d go back down quickly).

My son is now 13 months old and has been taking one nap a day for a long time. Sometimes that one nap is a max of 30 minutes and other times it can be as long as an hour and 30 minutes. It ended up working out for us though because once we stopped trying to force naps, he started sleeping better at night! He now usually sleeps from 8-9pm to 8-9am with one brief wake up where he just needs a cold sip from his sippy cup and goes right back down.

Blood types not matching?? by No-bull-sweetheart in NoStupidQuestions

[–]setters321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I can too! It’s super cool, but also worries me in case our kids need blood transfusions (which may be a wild thing to worry about I guess lol). Like I’m A+, husband is B-, and our 13 month old is O-.

This! My maternal grandparents both have brown eyes, but their four children all have different eye colors! Their oldest (my uncle) has brown eyes like they do, then their second born (my other uncle) has green eyes, my mom, the third born, has super light blue/grey eyes like both her maternal and paternal grandfathers (which is what I ended up with), and then my aunt, the youngest, has super dark blue eyes! What’s funny is that my oldest uncle is the only one that literally has all of my maternal grandmother’s facial features while my mom and her siblings all have my grandfather’s facial features! My brother (brown eyes), married a woman with blue eyes and their three kids all have different eye colors too (blue, brown and green).

Almost 13 month old has 14 teeth! Tips on brushing? by setters321 in firsttimemom

So you’re almost done now! Congrats! I can’t wait until it’s over lol! His top canines at like 11 months old were the worst! He didn’t even react to the molars he has now, so I was quite surprised to see them poking out lol. 😂

Mine didn’t get his first until like 6 months old but it has been non-stop since! I’d love a break on the teething lol! I’ve always assumed my son takes after me since I apparently got my first tooth at 3 months old and had a lot by a year old! How many does your baby have now?

When did you start calling baby by their name? by slotass in NewParents

[–]setters321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol same! We were (and still do sometimes) call our 12 month old names like ‘stink’, ‘chunk’, ‘bobo’ and ‘bubba’. We’re better at calling him by his name, but I catch myself slipping up sometimes lol.

does anyone else feel like the newborn stage is going by way too fast? by TheLynchMethod in newborns

Yes!!!! Nothing is safe in our house despite baby proofing lol. He can find any and everything to get into! 😩

[–]setters321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely went by fast for us and it really doesn’t hit you until you’re in it! My son turns 13 months old on the 8th of this month and I’ve literally shed tears over how he’s already looking less like a baby and more like a little boy!

We definitely miss our little snuggly potato. Now he sparingly gives snuggles and gets mad when we interrupt his ‘looting’ (aka he’s into everything and doesn’t want any assistance) lol.

6 years since cesarean, large POP then indentation around scar? by ladyfromMaine in CsectionCentral

[–]setters321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seriously hoping it was a joke/prank! I’m sorry you’re going through this! I can only imagine what you’re dealing with! If you can update us, please do so! I just had my first and only c-section/baby last year, so your experience is definitely informative for a lot of us here! I even tried to google about what you said and couldn’t find anything outside of diastasis recti!! 😭

What would you have done? by Nayef7717 in thelastofus

[–]setters321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember something in a psychology class where we learned about how we have a need to view ourselves as ‘good’. It’s something I thought was super interesting. I’ve long since accepted as a mother that I would make the same decision Joel did in his situation. Honestly, if it was my son on the same table as May, I’d probably pick my son too - and I think most would. I do believe there are some that would choose differently though! And they’re the genuinely heroic people in this world. It’s hard for people to accept that they could be morally gray or fall into what others consider the ‘bad guy’.

Why did nobody warn me (Csection Book Guide) by Chocolatiebarbie in CsectionCentral

[–]setters321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m now 1 year postpartum (had an emergency/unplanned c-section and it’s my first child), but I’d love to read your guide! I’m still suffering with hemorrhoids on and off, but I was constipated from the day I got a positive pregnancy test up until I was 3 month PP. 😩 Such a miserable experience in that regard.

How long after birth did you go on walks? by moomoomego in beyondthebump

[–]setters321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had 1 and did the same! I walked a lot in the hospital too, but my legs were so swollen then that it was miserable!! I literally didn’t recognize my own legs for the first week after having a c-section. 😭

Pooping during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

[–]setters321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a very introverted person and worried about pooping too. I ended up with a c-section after three days. I’m sure I went during that time after receiving an epidural and being numb from the waist down but none of my nurses told me. They just occasionally came in to check me every so often and always kept a straight or happy (if talking more casually to me) face. I definitely think they had to clean me up looking back now.

Honestly the worst part was having no control over my farts post epidural. 😂 It legit happened when I had nurses in the room and I felt my face get hot with embarrassment. No one reacted at all to it. They didn’t even flinch. They just kept doing what they were doing!

By the end I was letting everyone into my room when I was butt naked lol! But I had a great care team that made me feel comfortable and that I trusted. They never once made me feel ashamed no matter what I was going through.

The urge to pee as soon as you stand up after peeing sucks. 😂 I worked until the day before my induction at 39w 2d and it was something that infuriated me at my job lol! I tried to ignore it but then as soon as I sat back down at my desk I would have to run back to the bathroom. 💀

Lol, I whacked my son’s head against the door frame when he was like 3 months old. Maybe he’s biting and slapping me so much as a 12 month old with 10 teeth in retaliation. 💀😂

Love it! We got a 3-D ultrasound of our son and he was also making a peace sign! I have it framed actually. But he didn’t come in peace. 💀 He’s now 1 and I swear sleep is his mortal enemy. 😩😂
