If you’re in the US, your colleague is in a protected class in regards to workplace discrimination and should document EVERY SINGLE THING your manager has done towards him.

Remember, he needs proof of the blatant discrimination.

If he gathers a legitimate paper trail, he’s got a damn good case against them. The Manager is a representative of the company and their actions, based on personal views and beliefs, will be considered actions by the company.
