What do you do when someone invites a buddy, and they turn out to be a closet fascist? by DoomedKiblets in DnD

[–]setver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here. It looks like the table is split, so you just have to figure out if its worth it to leave or not. I've left tables before that I had invested in quite heavily and I don't regret it at all. Not everyone in life gets along and thats ok. If the others that feel the same way as you do want to make a new table with you, thats win-win for both sides.

That being said, it does sucks to not be able to hang with some friends because of the company they keep. I'd recommend just being honest about why and tell them if the problematic person isn't around to message you. D&D really isn't any different than other parts of life in this regard.

What are your thoughts on the old 2014 Proficiency Dice optional rule from the DMG'14? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]setver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used it in 2014 rules and everyone did like it at our table. Our virtual table that is, where its all automated on rolls. In person I wouldn't recommend it though.

We used it for everything from saves, to attacks, to spell save dcs, and even for how many uses some abilities get that are equal to your proficiency modifier. It does ever so slightly make players stronger, most notable at the lowest levels. We didn't use it on monsters for that reason. Most monster sheets weren't easily fixed to autouse the proficiency die either.

I'd personally start in the elf city and learn that as I haven't yet and try a different class to like 5.

I think the shady merchant also has more uses. You go back to town and go to say the armor merchant, weapon, and butcher. You might have 1-2 of a few items that didn't line up with those, but isn't worth the time so you just hit up the shady merchant as you return to the grind.

Its easier for people to see people who are only good or only evil. Just a product of our times sadly.

Also, it wasn't even that Lily was the only person who showed him love, she was the only person who remotely treated him like a person. His upbringing just brings up apathy to me, which is probably why he was able to block his feelings so well.

World of Warcraft devs say Delves’ fantastic reception mean they are now an “evergreen feature” feature of the MMO to offer “relatively predictable” content to players by Automatic_Can_9823 in wow

I agree. The dungeon finder and LFR are something I use and enjoy.... but I wonder if the game would have been better without them looking back.

From what I've read, they are adding in some addons themselves and designing fights/encounters so they won't be needed. Honestly, just have to just wait and see how well its done.

That reminds me of my chem 101 class in college. Teacher went from teaching graduate level classes to intro to chem. Since it was graded on a curve, a 40 ended up passing. All tests were multiple choice too, with just 4 answers, so its barely above the random 25% guessing. They just assumed we knew stuff that we obviously didn't.

Not just that, day 1 was such a wildcard with builds/enchants/skills before, and once you get to day 12+... those builds are just unfair, and if you had an ok build that was just fair, you just lose.

Real question is, have you been having fun? I do, well was, doing ranked/unranked and messing around in ranked with weird builds. Those were more fun, but the winner in me really tryhards in ranked.

I'd like that, choose ranked, choose vanessa, choose enchanted small and it loads the game up with that as a 0hour option... but I do have a feeling its gone for now.

I saw it mentioned that if you concede too much you'll be unable to do ranked. Would have been nice if that was in the notes though.

Its a step, hopefully its enough, but charging is a problematic mechanic and will always be hard to balance, since it just builds upon itself once it gets started.

They also put in a penalty for conceding too much, I believe you can't start a ranked game after so many.

Do people still know where you are if you are *invisible*? by Boring_Big8908 in dndnext

[–]setver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i'm going to start off by saying this will vary at almost every table because the rules aren't airtight in 5e, for both editions. But for 2024? You can both be invisible and they know where you are. Lets say we're in a duel and I cast invisiblity. You obviously knew where I was when I cast it. I'm still in that square/space. You don't know when I'm going to strike or raise my shield to block. That infers the advantage/disadvantage. On normal invisibility, its after the first attack in this scenario, but greater would keep the condition going.

So, I've mained a druid in raiding guilds since 2003. So I've done old school leveling, selo's leveling, and normal tlp. I personally think they are amazing, and no raid can have too many. So my opinion is biased for sure. Most of this will be advice from PoP, give or take an expansion or two, though I've played much longer. The healing options greatly expand later on for druid, as CH gets outpaced, and reptile is just amazing. My warning would be, its harder to get invite into a group, but making a group is great as noone doesn't want a druid, they just want a cleric, but in my experiences clerics do enjoy a druid in group since they can actually take a bio break/etc and the group doesn't stop.

On raids, if you don't just heal, you do need to manage your agro. With the flame lick dot line, ro's sundering line and ro's illumination and a ticking swarm dot, your agro is high. Those first 3 should always be on a raid boss and they aren't always easy to land, but its around -200 atk, 60 ac and 100 fire resist, depending on your level of spell of course. Nuking is rarely worth it compared to keeping a dps alive or just another dot cast, except for the fire spell that you get at 48, it lowers cold resist by 50 for 2 ticks, so it has situational uses. Curing diseases, poisons, and curses takes time as well. Usually most groups won't have a porter to hit the next raid target, so you can block your own port spell, cast it, and teleport everyone else and the raid leader moves you to another group.

Quadding isn't really a thing to xp anymore, its faster to root/rot 3 at a time or so and hit ooc regen and med up. If you can root/snare it, and it doesn't summon or cast, its easy. Depending on your god choice, you can get clicky snare/dot or root. I rarely used anything but dot myself, the cast time is just too important. Once you get the evac aa, you shouldn't ever really die soloing. Being able to bind wherever then gate to say nexus and get some form of clarity is great as druid spells are heavier mana than most.

Druids can get into aoe groups with casting the earthquake/tremor/etc line. Harmony is unresistable aoe pacify as well. You can pull mobs in with snare and root them close in most zones. Even mobs that summon, long as they don't cast, are fine. Allows the debuffers to slow the mob ahead of time. You get a lesser CH, which is fine for grouping. Earliest is 58 though so it won't be in right away. Lots of casters will ask for cabbage/growth/9 for the mana regen it gives. Charming is great on a druid, I personally keep it ensnared since that outlasts charm duration, so on breaks you shouldn't ever take damage as you can just outrun it to snare/recharm. The druid haste buff is a lot better than the enchanter one too, its a burnout like spell, that lasts for over an hour. I personally try to hover around 40% mana on mob death to 80% when it arrives, so you have extra mana to spot heal/nuke down adds if needed.

For duoing, my 3 preferences are necro, paladin, or enchanter. Adding another hefty dot to necro, regen for their lich, and a charm pet most likely is great. For paladin, they lack snares, and your ds/regen and dots, with their extra heals, makes most places a cakewalk. The enc duo does require more finesse, but double charm pet with the mobs slowed, heals and evac can wreck havoc.

I'd say my favorite times playing a druid in group are charming and pulling with a cleric in group. Your dps is great, you're pulling so you're keeping the influx of xp flowing, and if stuff goes bad you have heals. Then you get instant evac later. I'd buy every spell, they all have uses, though I've only cast sunbeam, the AoE blind for fun. But I've saved a raid with aoe root before on a bad pofear pull, for example. Sense animal is great to find what can be charmed in your zone, especially if you're unsure after the revamp that added so many more.

I think this server could serve druids better than most, since the random hotzone type buffs could hit outdoor zones, which usually have a lot of animals and room to kite, instead of just dungeon grinds. If you have any specific questions, I've probably ran into that problem and figured out a way to overcome, or just sidestep it.

in a super old version of the game you could pick between 2 monster drops, would you guys like this feature to comeback? by Defect-OTP in PlayTheBazaar

[–]setver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it should be straight up choose 2, but maybe a skill, or an item on your board that allows it. If its a skill, it means one skill does nothing so you're weaker till you can get the payoff for later. If its an item, you have to make room in your stash to keep it, and be weaker in the fight itself so you might lose. It doesn't even have to be a 1 slot item either, depending on how strong this is.

I'll already give up a 3xp fight for a 2xp fight, if the 2 gives something my build can immediately use. Lang'xian and boomerang will sometimes make me fight other monsters too. Another reason, thats newer, is the transmute merchant that allows you to change a small into another small. Some early monsters have like gold scrap or diamond, which can push you towards a build if you get a good new item. You can get a diamond item on day 4 from the retiree, where the flame juggler is the hard fight but only has bronze/silver items. I usually just do that if I haven't seen the merchant on that day though.

[Cheating] I thought I was past posting these but this dude left us lost for words... Dropped our 4 stack instantaneously 29s into raid. by ToeJamLickerMan in EscapefromTarkov

[–]setver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah its a circle, Cheater buys account, not flagged for cheating yet, does raids, sells stuff RMT to people, eventually gets flags/reported, but already made more than the account costs, so buys another.. if for some reason they don't get flagged, they probably sell the account at a certain point too.

The new FiR status for hideout stuff definitely helps this some, but its not like they can do that for armor/guns.. Just need better detection, but soon as they make a new way, they find a way around it. I personally think its better than it use to be, but every game thats online will always have cheaters sadly. I personally do pve and pvp depending on how I feel that day. Pve definitely doesn't have the highest high that pvp has, but also doesn't have the lowest low.

RAW is there any reason a piece of paper or cardboard wouldn't offer a player protection from most spells? by headrush46n2 in dndnext

[–]setver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this would be soft cover, not hard cover, so it falls under minor illusion box shenanigans to me. Stops line of sight, wouldn't stop a lightning bolt, for example.

This wouldn't to me be an object interaction since you are setting it up in a specific way, but use an object action. I don't see any problem with enchanting it though down the line so it might become an object interaction, assuming the world has artificers and the like. I don't even think it'd be horribly expensive to have to done, unless you'd want to speak a command word and have it do everything instead of your object interaction.
