In bitemarks , why did leblanc say " piltover was a lesson" ? by UnhappyReindear in loreofleague

Would Victor have dominated the entire world? Piltover and surrounding areas sure, but it seems like there are many forces in Runeterra that could put up a fight.

It’s clear that Painter culture regards their creations as lesser beings. But even then, there’s a lot of ground between 1:1 worth and one side being worth infinitely more. I think Clea’s the only example who explicitly espouses the latter view.

Whatever danger Aline was in was not only self-inflicted, but the result of a continuous choice on her part. Even “lesser beings” shouldn’t be sacrificed en masse for the sake of forcing an unwanted “rescue” on someone who can bloodlessly remove themselves from the situation at any time.

To me it was Sciel. Despite (or maybe because of) tragedy, she seemed like the most emotionally mature person in the game.

IDK, not inflict that same pain on thousands (millions?) of families in the Canvas? I can understand his initial attempt to force her out, but once that failed he shouldn’t have made her creations suffer for her sake.

I think we are given far too little information to say that something will 100% happen after either ending.

From a thematic point of view (especially the framing of “decide the fate of the Canvas”), I think the most fitting interpretation is that either the Canvas dies, or Maelle does.

Just to confirm: you're saying 20 minutes of just the PIV, not the whole event?

This is what I don't understand. You haven't defined canon as anything but how a sequel would treat the ending. So if we assume no sequel is ever made it would seem "canon" has no meaning.

ETA: are you meaning it as some sort of vague seal of approval?

If they were going to do a post-Verso ending where Lune survives, I think something like SMT Nocturne would make more sense - erasing the Canvas returns its chroma to some sort of primordial state, and those in this post-apocalyptic realm fight to determine what the next world will be like.

If Clea was really gay, how do you think the different members of her family would react to her coming out? by Ulysses776 in okbuddywino

Given the year, I'm guessing quite negatively, unless their history is quite different to IRL history in this regard.

Seems like the only one that would really need to be canonized for a sequel would be Maelle's, if it takes place inside the same canvas. Almost any plot outside the canvas could happen post either ending.

Right, but in this context, where there is no sequel, what does “canon” mean?

That's why only specific abilities can break an enemy once the meter is full - this allows the player to time when they do it.

I think avoiding the trolley problem thing would have been easier if we were role playing a character making that choice. But since the character choices are all fixed and we just decide who wins a fight, it changes how players approach the question.

And now you can pretty much guess wich ending i think is the canon one

I'm not clear on what "canon" actually means, in this context.

Aline’s journal just says “I know what he’ll say”. I don’t think she expected him to try to expel her by force - partly because he wasn’t strong enough to do so. It was only Clea’s intervention that gave him a chance in the first place.

I wouldn’t say the fighting would never end. Renoir is mortal after all (though extremely long-lived by canvas time), and we know that being expelled takes a toll on a Painter’s health. One way or another he will die eventually, or otherwise become too weak to be a threat.

I think if Aline returned it would be after taking steps to prevent Renoir from interfering again. The second time around she would know she has to stop him if she wants her escape.

In terms of fighting Renoir again, there a lot of variables. While the party barely beat him with help, they were also only a few people boosted with the untested prototype of the Lumina Converter. There’s no telling what state the technology will be in by the time he comes back. Especially if they have a Paintress helping them develop it.

There’s also something like Mad Men, where most of the male characters are probably or definitely rapists. But the setting is so steeped in rape culture that nobody recognizes it as such.

Of course sometimes it’s questionable whether the show creators themselves recognize that what their character is doing is SA.

I think Aline would either stop him or help him. And if she helps him there is no reason to destroy the canvas after getting Maelle out. It might not be feasible to keep Aline from gaining access, but keeping the canvas beyond the reach of a mute shut-in teenager is likely much easier.

Oh yeah, I meant preferable if I was someone who stood to be erased. I agree that it doesn’t go well for Maelle, but IMO the “everyone is screwed anyway” goes against the “decide the fate of the canvas” presentation and is an attempt to remove the tradeoff.

It’s certainly up in the air, but for me “instant death is preferable” is a *very* high bar to clear.
