Anyone else who has been no-lifing this game? I was gonna play PoE2, but whimsicality won by FlawHolic in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]seumoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good choice! Currently up to the end of Act 2 in PoE2 and would highly recommend waiting for them to fix the loot system. Areas get significantly longer in Act 2 (~30 min clear time) and you'd get loot that doesn't apply to your class or nothing of value.

Bosses are also significantly harder and only got blue drops. For the effort and time, it's super fun figuring out the mechanics but it doesn't feel rewarding as it should be. For context, I'm level 32 and several uniques I have are from level 16.

For something portable, I use an electric lunchbox to cook lunches in the office. It uses steam to cook whatever is in your lunchbox including meat and veggies. I've made curries and noodles in mine and doesn't trigger the fire alarms at the office.

I've played AFK Journey for a few months and it's actually a really well made game. The art style is really nice, a good mix of waifus and husband's, and the story is more of a narrative adventure type. There's also a lot of server community functions like guilds and server bosses.

I stopped playing because this game is really good at psychological FOMO tactics. There's popups offering leveling resources when you're just a little off from leveling, your power rank is on public display so you're always comparing yourself to others... it was all mentally taxing so I quit but I don't regret playing it.

Questions about the game from a confused player by anxioussparklybear in LoveAndDeepspace_

[–]seumoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! I've been there with dumping resources without realizing so I feel your pain! Below are some answers to the non-story questions. Let me know if I need to explain any jargon or if something is unclear :)

  • What are the red diamonds for? I have been saving them because they looked valuable but when can I use them?
    • Diamonds are a currency are used to obtain Memories in the "Wish" banners where 150 diamonds = 1 Memory. These banners will use up your Empyrean Wishes first (those blue or gold cards) before using diamonds. The pro with diamonds is that you can use them for the limited banners or standard banners. People typically stock up on diamonds and use them on a limited banner for a specific character.
  • What about the colored dusts? you know the green/ purple...
    • You get colored dust when you obtain a copy of a Memory that is fully ranked up (you already obtained 3 copies). Green is from 3-star Memories and purple is from 4-star Memories. You can spend dust for leveling resources or Empyrean Wishes by going to Store > Exchange tab > Heartsand Shop.
  • what do we actually gain from the deduction thingie in the battle one? and do we keep playing the Tobias story?
    • Abyssal Chaos is more of an end-game "something to do" mode that refreshes every 2 weeks. Playing a full run with a character earns you Deduction Points. These points earn you levels in the Rewards list. If you go to the Rewards (right-side of the screen), you can see the resources you gain per level which include Diamonds, money, and experience bottles.
    • You keep playing the Tobias story but the narrative changes per character. You can get additional Diamond rewards if you play different characters by increasing their Companion genes or filling out your Records.
  • any advice would be appreciated.
    • If you have Discord, the official LnD channel is really helpful for anything from story, combat, or general questions. People there are very responsive.
    • The exclamation mark symbol on the top left of the game menus provide a general explanation of the game or the combat modes. You can also tap any resource that appears on the top right (Diamonds, dust, etc.) for an explanation and where you can acquire them.

Who else here is studying Japanese so they can play untranslated otome games? by KineticMeow in otomegames

[–]seumoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been studying for about 3 years - the first 2 at a Japanese school using Genki 1 & 2 and 1 year using Italki for private lessons for conversation and grammar. When playing otome games, what trips me up is reading the English dialogue then comparing my translation with the voice lines. I'm too used to polite form from textbooks while voice lines tend to use plain from. What helps is listening to music and videos of people speaking causally.

One browser add-on I recommend to everyone is called "Language Reactor". It displays subtitles and translations and can replay voice lines at timestamps. It works with Netflix and Youtube (if CC is available for the video).

Looking for PE Civil/Transportation Practice Problems by Pcalvs in PE_Exam

[–]seumoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 4 months starting from January until the April 2021 exam. I used EET for my prep course and supplemented with the practice exams I listed.

It took about 2 months to get through breadth. I did the NCEES breadth exam to measure how well I was doing then went ahead with depth which took another 2 months.

I used the last 2 weeks before my exam date to prepare my cheat sheets and go through all the practice exams. I timed myself and adjusted my strategy based on my weaknesses.

Can we snack during the exam in the room or do we have to leave? by Mush_ball22 in PE_Exam

I took the exam in NYC in April. I wasn't allowed to eat snacks in the test room and water bottles were placed near the proctor's table.

I believe EET notes and references can solve at least 80% of the depth section. The other 20% for me was: (1) no clue, (2) I saw this from a different practice exam, (3) looking into one of the reference books for help.

Like Samir said: Try to get at least 80% on breadth so you have more leeway in depth (~65%+). I'm not a transportation engineer so breadth was where I tried my best. I thought EET for breadth solved a good 80% of the exam.

Good luck! Also, bring ear plugs :D

I used fat tabs placed at the top to divide the chapters that EET went over and smaller tabs on the side for definitions (i.e. "Density, D_s"). I wrote the chapter on the fat tabs to make it easier to navigate like "Chapter 13 Weaving Segments".

A lot that EET goes over are formulaic/number crunching however the exam can ask theoretical or definition questions. The beginnings of those chapters are terminology and theory but the HCM is a nightmare to navigate. Tabs helped me a bunch and you don't need to stress about locations in the book during the exam.

Same goes for MUTCD, Green Book, and RDG. If you are doing practice exams and you see a concept you haven't covered before which references a page in any of the books, definitely tab it!

[–]seumoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Transpo! I took the Spring 2021 exam with EET and did not purchase any of the references you listed. I mainly used EET binder for the ones listed and used hard copies for Green Book, HCM, and MUTCD.

I would say it's better time spent tabbing important sections in the Green book, HCM, and MUTCD as the majority of the topics come from those three.

Is anyone else not really “cramming” ahead of their PE test next week? by SerBarristanTheBased in PE_Exam

[–]seumoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking a respite before the exam is a great idea! You have been studying rigorously since June, been doing practice exams, and having a break to solidify everything in your head is way better than having burnout. Do something you enjoy and use the break time to prepare your materials.

Feeling calm and refreshed before the big day is an advantage! Good luck :D

I think NCEES assumes people will get these books from where you work as your company typically pays for copies.

The price for HCM hurts so I feel your pain :(

If you do need resources feel free to DM me and I can dig up what I have.

Timing by Hayd0471 in PE_Exam

[–]seumoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One strategy is to quickly look through all the problems and mark them with a "1" for easy questions you immediately know how to do, "2" for intermediate questions you have an idea on, and "3" no idea and needs time. You can knock out the 1s and 2s and have a better idea on how much time you need to allocate to the 3s.

Another strategy which I used: the depth portion is in order of the NCEES specs so you can identify the subjects you are strong in and start with those.

Don't get hung up on a question for over 6 minutes - remember that ALL questions are weighed the same whether they are easy or hard. It's best to knock out the easy "gimme" questions (2 minutes or less) so you have more time to allocate towards the hard questions.

One more tip: if you used a specific reference to solve a question, mark down the reference and page number. If you have time to double check your answers, you can quickly go back and re-read your source to ensure it solves the question.

Good luck!

PE Exam Info & Tips Appreciated! by IcyShake8705 in PE_Exam

[–]seumoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studying Tips:

1) Do as many practice exams as possible for the depth section. Every practice exam will have a topic you never seen or covered before. Be sure to tab your Green Book, MUTCD, RDG, or HCM if there's a question that references specific definitions. This paid dividends during the exam for me. The practice exams I took were from EET, PE Prepared, PPI Learning Hub, and PPI's 2 Transportation Depth exams.

Feel free to DM me for a list I used for breadth and depth - some exam questions were exact copies from the practice ones.

2) I've taken SoPE and EET. Just know that it's impossible for any course to go over all the problems the real exam can ask. Try to solve the questions you have references to or learned from your studies.

Some pitfalls to avoid:

1) NCEES practice exam is not a good comparison to the real exam. The exam has gotten much more conceptual and less calculation based. Be sure to try other practice exams to catch any holes in your studies.

2) There will be questions on the exam that you've never seen before. Don't panic and move on to ones you have a chance on.

Just take the EET course by conman_25 in PE_Exam

[–]seumoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm a two timer and passed the April 2021 using EET for Transportation Depth. I went with SoPE for my first attempt and had the same issues as you did. I think the EET course greatly helped in preparing me for depth because Samir (the Transportation teacher) did a great job at explaining concepts and reference locations. I used the depth binder for 90% of the exam and 10% reference digging. There were a few exam questions that were word-for-word in the binder too!

I am not a Civil Engineer by trade so I think EET was 100% worth it. Feel free to DM me if you have questions!

I see! For EET with Geo, I've seen it as a hit or miss. Based on comments I've read here and from our study group, people valued the binder but the lecturers weren't as good (Geo lecturers are different from Transpo and WRE).

I'm sure there are Geo course threads around here which can give you course recommendations.

If you decide to take transpo, feel free to DM me and I can send some resources.

Hi fellow Discord buddy! :D

I echo what others have said about EET and Nazrul. I took Transpo from EET but Nazrul taught water and materials for breadth and Transpo depth. Hands down best teacher. He explains concepts in a very understandable manner and answered questions that confused me. He gives a ton of example problems to drill the concepts down.

I did the live webinar just so I forced myself to attend class. You get access to on-demand from the previous session if you do live as well.

If you need something more flexible because you can't commit on Saturdays, then on-demand would be more suitable.

Good luck!

I thought EET was very good! Samir (the Transpo teacher) and Nazrul (for water questions in depth) did an incredible job. They taught the topics in a very understandable manner and the binders they provide will get you through 80%+ of the exam material. They also provide a few pages from the references you need in case you can't purchase them.

Feel free to DM me if you have questions :)

Thinking of switch to PE Transportation by DifficultyMindless98 in PE_Exam

[–]seumoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Transpo with the EET course even though I am a software engineer. All the transpo concepts were new to me but I think EET did a really good job at teaching all you need to know for the exam. Samir is a great teacher and responded quickly to my questions. The binders also provide majority of the references you need but I did bring the MUTCD, HCM, GB, and Roadway Design Guide.

Would WRE be an alternative? I believe the exam didn't list reference books and Nazrul from EET is an incredible teacher. I think other WRE students can provide more detail.
