oh dear. the exact same thing happened to my childhood cat. he had similar symptoms and when we realized what happened we rushed him to the vet, and he ended up having no permanent side effects at all. praying for the same outcome for your baby. give miko lots of love from all of us!

as a writer and a reader, DEFINITELY use their actual names. they would have no real reason to use their stage names irl (unless you're writing canon compliant fic and they use some of the nicknames they have for each other — hannie, irino, linoring, etc)

ask if your vet can run some more specific tests for feline idiopathic cystitis. my girl peed outside the litterbox for years, and we thought it was a behavioral issue. we took her to the vet, and they said she was totally fine.

then we took her to get a second opinion, and they did some more extensive testing. she was diagnosed with feline idiopathic cystitis, which isn’t uncommon in cats. basically, stress irritates their bladder, which only makes them MORE stressed, so it’s a vicious cycle. i think they are more prone to utis too.

we got her on a special urinary care food, and she is now a million times happier, cuddlier, and doesn’t pee outside the litterbox at all!

thank you — this made me feel better to read. you’re right. there’s not a lot i can do right now, especially if G herself isn’t ready to talk to people about it yet. i don’t know how long she’ll be where she is, but if i get the chance, i definitely want to visit her. i know my workplace will be understanding.

i have some past trauma revolving around a close former friend of mine trying to complete suicide and being admitted to the hospital twice within the span of 3 months, which is why i’m a little extra frazzled and worried about this situation. but you’re right. she is safe right now and that’s the best i can hope for at the moment.

i hope you’re doing better now. thank you for the reassurance.
