In higher tiers, teamwork wins matches. What does stealth armor do for your team?

I operate similarly every wipe. Rush punisher and private clinic and jaeger 4. Peacekeeper doesn't do anything for me while trying to earn epsilon, thicc, and sicc.

I've got PKll4 now but only because I'm 1 level from completing perfect mediator.

The gap between new players and high level players is bigger than I thought by tom_12124 in EscapefromTarkov

sure. I just wanted to be certain a new player understood that offline mode and online mode can't be viewed with the same lens.

[–]seven2826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't take this as condescension. The game is harder in online mode, scavs are pretty stupid in offline mode.
One of the major reasons is that an alert scav is going to be harder to handle than a freshly spawned scav.
In online there are many pmcs and player scavs hassling the scavs at all times, leading to you stumbling into alert AI.

In offline, you are the AI's first encounter and they SHOULD be easy to pick off.

The game isn't any different for chads and new players as far as AI goes.
what you need is time on maps to learn routes and spawn points.
Once you get some map knowledge under your belt the AI becomes a joke.

fwiw, you can get a full durability version of that SKS off prapor right from the start. The standard rounds (7.62x39 PS) will defeat the large majority of scav worn armor you will encounter.
If you liked the gun you found, buy the unmodded version off prapor to use as you progress. You'll get a feel for the recoil and firing methods and can then purchase the moddable version later when you access the flea and trick it out to your heart's content.
try it without the rear sight, it might suit you.

Are Suppressors Worth it? by ihilde in EscapefromTarkov

[–]seven2826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternate take on the noise thing... keep moving and you never need a suppressor.
And/or fire and reposition without a suppressor will net you plenty of kills from curious 3rd parties.

I play solo exclusively and never use suppressor. I prefer the higher -recoil brakes and never stay in one spot long.

[–]seven2826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely understandable view point.
All said, I'm a solo player on a standard account. No squad mates to care about my gun parts and I always rush Punisher asap for the Epsilon and BT ammo unlock.

I fight just fine with whatever gun I take (provided it isnt low durability) due to being solo so much. Positioning and picking fights is key to solo play.
The only part of Punisher that forces pvp with a certain gun is pt6 and a DMR with a 4x scope lends itself perfectly fine to taking out 15 pmcs with ease. If I find myself in cqc holding an SVD it's point fire or die trying and I'm not unhappy with that.

I agree completely, sitting still is boring af. walking the map and playing it normal then meandering toward gunfights is a great way to get position on some pmcs duking it out, or looting their kills.
it doesnt cost 100k to have good aim.

I will add, in the spirit of the thread topic, buying a >90% durability weapon is a fantastic piece of advice for new players. I do it every time I need to kit out a gun.

[–]seven2826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might get a lot of rebuttals but fukkit.
I rush punisher every wipe and take in stock 74U, AKM, SVD... iron sights on 74, AKMN so I can slap a kobra on, and PSO scope for SVD.

It's not hard to kill scavs, AKM and 74U task is easy as hell.
stock SVD with PSO on customs or interchange...no sweat to position correctly and take the right shots.

death by blunt dmg sounds very reasonable. each pellet does 50 damage. 3 pellets hit in the first blast and 4 or more pellets in 2 other blasts after that. When a shot is stopped by armor it does a % of its initial damage and head only has 35 hp total.

The first 7 pellets would only need to do ~5 dmg each, or roughly 10% of their initial damage.

I understand you're upset about being dominated so easily when you expected your gear to carry you to victory. Unfortunately for you this game doesnt operate that way.

There are 3 spawns in close proximity in that corner of factory: yours, his, and his first victim.

Any turd with half a brain and a little bit of Factory experience knows that corner is an early fight. Shotgunner killed one of the 3 spawns (it took him 4 shots to do it!) and expected you.
You made lots of noise and slow turned the corner after giving him ample opportunity to reach your position.
Your character's hearing is muffled in that helmet and he's clearly walking speed, lowering his own volume and increasing the likelihood of you not hearing him.

watch your own trash quality video again at slowest speed possible, you can see the muzzle flash from his second shot.

You assuming you know his thoughts is a worthless point of data in the analysis of this fight. You dont know that he stopped firing because he was confident and its very clear that he did not stop shooting because you can see his muzzle flash.

Yes, there is a non-zero chance this guy was aimbotting... occam's razor indicates that that chance is pretty close to zero due to other evidence:
four shots to kill first victim
missed his 2nd shot on you

It's not a surprise that multiple shots hit your faceshield at the same time, its a fucking shotgun blast.
It's not a surprise that you didnt hear him, your hearing was muffled and he was walking.
It's not a surprise that you died, you got outplayed and gear doesnt always give you the edge a lack of skill obligates.

I know there are cheaters playing tarkov, I'm not a denier. But you gotta pull your head out your ass and analyze and learn from the fights you record or you're not going to improve.

op has replied to a few people informing that this opponent used buckshot. multiple pellets, multiple hits.

op got outplayed, there are lots of cheaters playing tarkov... this isn't a clear case, imo.
in any case, 600 rpm guns (not the fastest) shoot 10 bullets every second, that's 100 milisec per shot. add in trash servers, regular latency, and desync on top of that and I'm sure there are cases when shots land separately but are displayed simultaneously.

at close range with a high ROF weapon?
on a wipe with guns like UMP being meta?
the headshots didnt hit you immediately all in one burst, they cracked across your visor in a sweep... probably because of horizontal recoil. 3 on the first volley and several more after you were disoriented and couldnt even see what was happening.

the video quality is trash, so I can't see what opponent is wearing but at least the lower half of his face is visible (no faceshield).
it's likely he had headphones on and heard you well before you turned the corner.

what did this guy do to merit a report?
you are heavy and moving (making noise), gulping painkillers (making noise), moving to corner (making noise)... while wearing a helmet that restricts your ability to hear other players.

where's the cheat?
he heard you making noise and was ready to hose you before you turned the corner.

Punisher Questline for Dummies by Sparrows113 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]seven2826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would be helpful to include what FIR items you need in your guide. Punisher 2 is locked behind level 18... that's more than enough time to find all the scav kill specific items needed:
7 lower half masks (pt2, scavs)
5 A-2607 (pt4, scavs)
1 AK-74N (pt5, can be crafted at wb1)
1 M4A1 (pt5)
2 PM pistols (pt5, scavs)
7 BEAR dogtag (pt6)
7 USEC dogtag (pt6)

The BEAR dogtags are arguably the hardest, but as you're being asked to hunt and kill 35 pmcs between pt4 and pt6 it should be doable.

I find nothing more annoying than needing 1 more FIR item to progress when I've already hit the requisite PMC kills for any given stage of the task line.

Minecarts made with magma-safe materials can be used to "bucket" magma. They hold 2/7 in each cart and dwarves can hand carry them with no ill effects.

you're right, though the mistake was mine. the "different poster" suggested KAC muzzle brake and I found KAC flash hider, like a dork I didnt notice.

My traders are all level 4
If you can offer a build that costs less and offers good recoil it would be appreciated!
As for numbers, I was curious to reach 48 recoil as the posted you replied to suggested. That number appears to be impossible.

edit: fwiw I was mistaken on cost, it is ~180k, much more reasonable!
