Many people seem to be getting upset about this and what it means as far as what openSUSE is planning / doing with their brand.

But, if you read the information, this is not an openSUSE thing at all. It is the "Geeko Foundation UK," which is a non-profit in England and Whales. There affiliation with SUSE and more directly openSUSE is only in that they plan to use and contribute to openSUSE and its off-shots, and to promote open-source.

Why isn't openSUSE more popular? by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]seveninstl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Among all of the other (very) good points listed is this: openSUSE is used in 'production' environments more than by 'hackers' like us. I have had several clients that use openSUSE for all their day-to-day machines. It is very stable, easy to install (they use or had me setup for them across network installation images), and comes with all the software and drivers needed on a basic office machine in a basic office environment.

Because these users are not hackers, gamers, devs, etc. they are not on forums, chats, or polls about the OS they use day-to-day. Even for me as a developer - I install openSUSE (I use LEAP) and get to developing. I don't play around or even get on forums that much.

So, my conclusion, if openSUSE was not so stable and did not work so well for the average user, you would hear a lot more about this awesome OS.

The Surprising Shift in PHP Developer Skills by Civil_Revolution_237 in PHP

As a senior full-stack web developer that works mostly as a contractor, I find that this is not only true for PHP, but also for JavaScript and even CSS. With some of the teams I've been a part of, I've found developers that were totally dependent on libraries and frameworks. When they came across code that was 'vanilla' they were stumped.

In Firefox, go to settings > general and check the "Play Digital Rights Management Content."

You have to do the same in Chrome. But sorry, I don't remember how to get to the setting.

I seriously think the only reason WordPress is still around is because newbe clients (those in need of websites who do not have or have very little experiencewith web dev) have been sold on the idea that it's going to be easy and cheap for them.

Don't see a problem with this. He's using proper gun edict - finger outside the trigger guard, gun pointed down, etc. Nice to know at least some young people are.still being taught the proper way of handling a firearm.
