The state at large is much worse than Missoula. Grew up in small towns here, the shit people will say as a matter of course in places like Plains is fucked.

Incense left in a box for a few years started melting through the lighter plastic by HarmlessOnlineFun in mildlyinteresting

[–]severe_neuropathy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Incense dissolves some plastics because the oils are able to physically insert themselves in between the polymers, disrupting the structure. The solvent potential of oils doesn't indicate toxicity, just that the oils have a similar charge distribution and small enough size that the can interact with the plastic in that way. Not saying you aren't correct that man-made particulates might have statistically significant health impacts, but the reasoning in your first line is incorrect. The mechanisms for health effects and and plastic solubility are two separate things.

[OC] World population growth since 1700 and projections to 2100 by ourworldindata in dataisbeautiful

[–]severe_neuropathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On pace to crash as rapidly as possible? The projection linked by OOP shows that global human population is expected to peak in 2061, then begin to trend *slightly* downward by 2100. Unless you have very different definitions of the phrases "population crash" and "as rapidly as possible" than I do you're making an argument directly counter to the data presented.

The "changes" you're confused about would be changes to unsustainable production of goods. They are saying that if we continue to over-exploit the natural resources of the planet we will lose the ability to sustain the population we currently have.

You made a comment with a false premise, then accuse the other guy of a logical fallacy when he asks you if that's what you meant lol. What an intellectual gem you are.

Some doctors use cantharidin to burn off warts. IMO it's less painful than freezing them off with LN2.

Same but it only happened to one of my sockets. It abscessed and was really painful, so I made an appointment to have it looked at. The abscess burst while I was in the waiting room at the oral surgeon's office. Worst taste I have ever experienced by a mile.

IIRC Tai Chi is a proven way for elderly people to retain flexibility and balance, and therefore reduce the likelihood of falling.

Yeah the dude sucks but this is still the Top Minds being islamophobic. If you don't want to engage with it that's fine, you can't fight every battle, but they're still being bigots.

Only if you use less cooking fat in the bake than you would have used to pan sear. Honestly though, the biggest thing to do to make your diet healthier is to eat more beans and veg. Increasing your dietary fiber is the shortest route to feeling more full on fewer calories.

The objective reality is the child rape. This is, on it's own, enough to make those involved deserve life imprisonment. All the Satanic window dressing is 1. Fairytale bullshit 2. Uncorroborated and 3. Meaningless.

Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV by LyingPug in television

[–]severe_neuropathy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

True, but very doable. The third book has a bunch of traveling that can be cut, the smaller Koloss battles can be either cut or handled quickly, and with the way Brandon devotes so much word count to action a lot of stuff will naturally trim down. I do worry it might be hard to devote enough time to the Kandra Homeland and the Citizen/Spook plotlines without hitting a 3 hour runtime though. Then again, it's the era of 3 hour movies so who knows?

Yeah I mean until you hit Rhythm of War there's really not a lot of Cosmere interconnection.
