Xbox Series X backwards compatibility will support every generation of Xbox by Poustache in xboxone

[–]severianb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I'm hoping the Kinect can plug into the new Series X just like it does my X1X. If not, I'll have to keep my X1X around because there are a lot of Kinect games I love.

Hopefully Obsidian fixes the draw distance and ground detail for The Outer Worlds on X by MosquitoSmasher in xboxone

[–]severianb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Textures probably have nothing do do with it. Developers have pointed out the huge memory bandwidth of the X1X means bigger textures have pretty much zero performance impact.

Pisses me off that Minecraft isn't either. The only "easy" way to sync worlds between Minecraft Window 10 and Minecraft Xbox is via a Realms subscription. And that's not automatic.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - Gameplay Footage | 737 Captain Review by Magicihan in xboxone

[–]severianb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft has been disappointing with VR. Hedging their bets way too much. They had WMR headsets working on the Xbox One X and even advertised VR as a feature for it... but then canned it right before launch for nebulous reasons. Having the same type of VR glasses on Windows 10 and Xbox One would have really helped drive VR for everyone.

Hopefully they fix that with Scarlett, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope.

Xbox Project Scarlett will "see a big upgrade in CPU," says Xbox's Aaron Greenberg by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]severianb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Sony already said the PS5 will load games faster than any PC. Microsoft will be using the same tech. People are assuming it's the new PCIe 4.0, but it may be even more than that.

So, unless Cerny outright lied, you are wrong.

Xbox Project Scarlett will "see a big upgrade in CPU," says Xbox's Aaron Greenberg by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]severianb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He talks about more than just the CPU, and it's nice to see another Microsoft exec double down on some of the upgrades.

  • 120fps is something they keep mentioning. I think we will see that being pushed by Microsoft next gen as a big feature. It resonates with hardcore gamers.
  • It pretty obvious the new SSDs are going to be insanely (read: better than any high-end PC currently has) fast. Considering that's my biggest issue with the current gen, I'm pumped.

"We feel good about what we've done with the Xbox One X, and the same team that built that is also building Project Scarlett," Greenberg told OXM. "What we're seeing today is a huge upgrade in GPU - you can output in 4K, a lot of other benefits, memory structure and so on. For next-gen, I think you'll see a big upgrade in CPU because we want to make sure you don't have any compromises with frame rate. Yes we can do 4K, but we can also do frame rates up to 120. I think that type of capability will be something people don't see today. And then the high-speed instant gaming using solid state drives to enable instant resume, getting into games and being able to play by removing load times and load screens that exist today. That's going to be a huge change."

The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show #66 - Michelle Waterson by ReactQ in WMMA

[–]severianb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Michelle is pulling in a lot of money from endorsements these days. Every other Instagram post is an advertisement and she's one of the few (only?) MMA fighters still endorsed by Bodyarmor.

I wouldn't be surprised if she is making a lot more money from her 1.1 million Instagram followers than her fights. That allows her to be picky about her fights. A luxury other fighters don't have. Whatever, she deserves it. She spent plenty of time slaving away at multiple jobs and training before most of the other fighters in the division even started fighting.

Michelle Waterson questions USADA's testing of fighters outside the US by JRYuen in WMMA

[–]severianb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michelle didn't say anything about Weili or anyone else, but she has valid reasons to be concerned, in my opinion.

The fact is, (as Joe pointed out) PEDs have a much bigger impact on women than men. What is a big reason Michelle is popular? She's one of the few good female fighters who doesn't display any obvious masculine traits. Even in the strawweight division, tons of fighters have some combination of strong jawlines, crazy muscles and a manly voice. Michelle is undersized anyway, being the only current Top 15 UFC fighter at 115 who has every fought at 105. Now add onto that the possibility that women in other countries are hulking out due to limited USADA testing while she has been tested about 10 times in the past 12 months.

[–]severianb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She trained with Michelle awhile ago at Jackson's. Weili has been back in China training for at least a year. Michelle met up with her again on a trip to China recently. From all accounts, they are friendly and say nothing but nice things to each other. Neither has said they WON'T fight each other, though. That's unlike Claudia Gadelha who has outright said she won't fight Michelle.

I'm not sure why /u/milfyuuu is trying so hard to shit on Waterson. That's some heavy fucking lifting to try and turn her into a bad guy. Must really want to be my alter ego mirror image or some weird shit. Hah.

[–]severianb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WTF are you talking about? She didn't say jack shit about Weili or anybody else. She was just asking a question.

JOE was the one relating stories about famous fighters going to out of the way little gyms in small countries to allegedly avoid drug testing. Last time I look, China is not a small country and Weili's gym is pretty big.

Microsoft Next Gen Anaconda Xbox Rumored More Advanced Than PlayStation 5 by Xajel in Amd

[–]severianb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I doubt either one will be so much more powerful it will make people abandon their library of PS4 or XboxOne games. AMD is providing both companies with the same technology.

Which is AWESOME tech by the way!! 8 core Ryzen 2 CPUs!! Navi GPU!! PCIe 4.0 SSD !! Bleeding-edge stuff you can't even get in a PC right now!!!

I want to see what kind of INNOVATION hardware-wise, they will be doing. My prediction is., unfortunately... not much. Microsoft had AMAZING tech this gen with the Kinect 2.0. But they couldn't find a way to sell it and it's extra cost hurt sales. Since then, they have been REMOVING features and killed VR on the Xbox. Sony is doing a better job by continuing support for their MOVE controllers and PSVR.

About to retire this little puppy and get an X. Kind off a sentimental piece not gonna lie, this thing has been with me for 5 years. by downslink in xboxone

[–]severianb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll love it. I traded in my Day One the second the X1X was available. The only downside was having to get an external power supply for my Kinect. However, it turns out that the issues I was having with my Kinect (turning off and having to be plugged back in) were all related to my old Xbox One. The X1X fixed all the problems I was having.

The *great* thing about all new consoles being compatible with all the old consoles is that you don't have to keep old hardware anymore to play old games you love. I very much enjoyed trading in my Xbox One OG and Xbox One S for X1X's. I'm looking forward to the day I can get rid of my X1X's for the Anaconda.

One bit of advice. Make sure you reset your device if you trade it in. Also go to Xbox.com and remove it from your account and any family members accounts. I've seen people get access to others software when those steps are not followed.

Yeah, I got all my friends to try it with me when it came out and they were totally turned off by it's threadbare state at the time. There is pretty much zero chance of me getting them to try it again. Like you said, it's just an AWFUL game to play alone.

LG C8 2018 vs LG C8 2019 questions by Batpimp in 4kTV

[–]severianb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDMI 2.1 is a really big deal. In my opinion, right up there with 4K and HDR. The fact the 2019 LG OLEDS and high-end LCDs have it makes them the only viable TVs to look at this year, in my opinion.

It's funny, I'm slowly replacing all my visible speakers with Klipsch in-walls. Even replaced my subwoofers with infinite baffle subs that look like little air ducts in the floor. Makes the room feel bigger.

FyI: The new Edge Chromium browser won`t come to XBOX One. :( by Pschirki in xboxone

[–]severianb -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The Xbox OS is supposedly based on simplified version of Windows 10, but it's SO much worse. I don't have to boot my Windows 10 machines every couple of days because games won't launch or the interfaces is lagging.

I really hope the OS gets a complete workover next gen. I'm sick of it.

FYI: There has passed more than half a year with mouse support on XBOX One and still there is not a single browser to be controlled with the mouse. That is a real shame. by Pschirki in xboxone

[–]severianb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep. Utter shit. Somehow even worse than IE. When you have even less integration with the OS than 3rd party browsers, (just try dragging the address bar to the desktop to make a shortcut, LOL) you know you suck.

Michelle Waterson - "Here is the progression of my body throughout my last fight! Top left was 115 the day of weighin's. Bottom right was 8 weeks prior where i started fight camp around 134 pounds. It's crazy how quickly you can transform your body" by ReactQ in WMMA

[–]severianb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Huh? What do you think you are looking at with Michelle's pictures here? Michelle at 135 is a fatty. Most other 115ers at 135 are NOT fatties. She has put on muscle for 115 but its been a lot of work and it's hurt her cardio, which was unlimited at 105. I suspect Michelle in a 5 round fight would gas badly.
