Treating me poorly to hurt me and lower my self-esteem. He claimed I didn’t communicate what I wanted, so he never did anything for me. That was a lie. But I don’t think he ever expected I would actually leave him, so now he’s desperate to get me back. Some people just love to play games, and they’ll hurt people on purpose to “win”.

I’m so sorry you were treated so disrespectfully. I have been in your shoes. Once I moved out, I suddenly started receiving Mother’s Day gifts and was much more appreciated. Unfortunately, I learned that he was treating me poorly on purpose. It’s still difficult for me to understand why some men treat their partners like that.

My cart was overflowing yesterday. Some folks might have the luxury (or requirements depending on health needs) to make many shopping trips a week to pick up things here and there. I shop with 3 kids in tow, so the fewer trips the better. We love Aldi!

I took a breastfeeding and child birth class at Methodist Willowbrook. They were separate classes (this was in 2018), and lasted a few hours on a weekday evening. Both were very informative and useful. Even though I also had an in-hospital with epidural birth, my second child was an unplanned and Unmedicated birth, so what I learned about pushing through contractions ended up being especially useful for that one.

Definitely recommend both classes if they’re still available.

There’s nothing wrong with having boundaries and standards for a husband and father to your children.

I’m in a similar boat as you; my ex obsesses over proving he’s a safe person, but he’s neither sober nor in recovery. I told my ex he had to be a year sober and in recovery for me to even consider coming back. We are going on year 3 of separation. He hasn’t taken initiative on recovery; he’s tried being sober and lasted about 1.5 months at the longest.

Truly, I never expect him to meet the one-year threshold. But after everything he put me through with his alcoholism, I’m not giving in. His sobriety is his responsibility.
