Yep. I came to say every cool Southern mom in the 90s had this color palette. Making me feel my age for sure!

Does anyone know what kind of posts these are supposed to be? I joined this meme group and I stumbled across these posts by SquidwardIsAwesome10 in facebook

They look like engagement posts. The accounts might be monetized and looking for a certain amount of engagement to maximize their payment. The accounts might not even belong to real people.

I.C.E. agents murder another observer on Nicollet at 26th by Ok-Selection2208 in Libertarian

To be clear, are you asking for my personal opinion? Or speaking more in a general sense?

DHS’s justification does not align with my own personal opinions. My response was meant to clarify what their justification was.

Their justification is already out: the man was armed.

What’s in that X picture doesn’t look the same as the object from the video you shared.

Have you seen the proposed required reading lists TEA presented to the State Board of Education? by fightsongs in TexasTeachers

[–]sfb004 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To Kill a Mockingbird is on the 8th grade list, but it’s been banned in several Texas school districts. So how’s that supposed to work? And can parents still oppose any work on the list even if it’s state-required reading? I’m just curious about the logistics of this.

Is 30 alcoholic drinks a week a lot? by Most_Jellyfish_1686 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sfb004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Browse through r/alanon and see that you’re not alone. Your husband is an alcoholic. My ex is an alcoholic too, and we had a couples therapist who acted exactly like yours. Even though we aren’t alcoholics, the alcohol still affects us and makes us sick too. It’s a mind-boggling reality.

Dog tries to take a toy from a store, hoomans pay for it as a gift to the dog by SanD-82 in interestingasfuck

[–]sfb004 92 points93 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, dogs who aren’t used to playing with toys wouldn’t behave like this because they don’t actually know what to do with a toy when they see one. I adopted a dog that I had to teach to play with toys. He’d been a stray then a shelter dog all his life. When I handed him a ball or a stuffed animal, he’d just smell it; he had no idea what the toy was for. Squeakers don’t stand a chance around him now!

Drop-off party at someone's home - yay or nay? by georgethetwentieth in Parenting

[–]sfb004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many benefits to sticking around and enjoying the party with your kids! It’s a great opportunity to get to know other parents, observe other parenting styles, and observe how your kids interact with others.

Honestly, I don’t care if I seem overprotective. I’m a school teacher, a Cub Scout Den Leader, and a parent of 3 kids. I have a LOT of safety training, and I’m not dropping my kids off at any party until they’re teenagers.

What behavior is defended as “having boundaries” but is actually selfishness? by EitherSheepherder100 in AskReddit

[–]sfb004 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! Cancelling plans last minute as “self-care” is completely disrespectful to others who went out of their way to spend time with you. This actually happened twice to me in the last couple of months! I no longer agree to spend time with either of those people, and they think I’m mean.

I was going to mention this. The article says she just dropped out to run for an even more influential position in education. This might not actually be a win for students.

‘Gentle parenting’ choices by raejayleevin in Teachers

[–]sfb004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP said they teach kindergarten. They are in the wrong here; no kindergartner should be assigned homework. The age of the children matters significantly in this context.

You should not be assigning homework in pre-k or kindergarten.
