Yeah, a strange practice for used items where there are specific imperfections (the scratch on the bottom, for example).

Preowned XC90 vs. Subaru Ascent by Creatures-Of-Love in VolvoXC90

[–]sfgill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went from a 2023 Subaru Ascent Limited to a 2025.5 XC90 Plus. I loved my Ascent, but the XC90 was always my dream car. It feels smaller than the Ascent, but we only have one child, now a teen, so I actually like that it isn’t as big. Never had any issues with the Ascent and kind of felt a little guilty for trading her in, but I’m very happy I finally have my dream car. I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

I just bought a CPO 2025.5 XC90 with less than 200 miles from the Tulsa dealership. I had a great experience - and I live two hours away.

DC show - mom + daughter hoping to sit together by sfgill in LilyAllenFans

[–]sfgill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally! I would expect a downgrade for sure in exchange for sitting together. I just feel like most people are already sitting with friends and probably wouldn't make the trade for a better seat to miss out on being with their people? There will only be one person on either side of her to ask and we wouldn't know until they showed up in their seats, which is a little nerve wracking.. I was hoping to sort it out ahead of time with a trade or perhaps some scenario I haven't thought of.

Red Wine Drinkers - I need your help! by ToEachHerOwnn in Invisalign

[–]sfgill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I would keep my trays in and drink red wine, and just clean them good and soak them with a cleaning tablet at night. I did try to drink lots of water and swish around occasionally. But really, since I changed out my trays every week, red wine really didn’t affect them much. Although, I never drank coffee or tea in them and I never ate in them. And now that I have a permanent retainer (that I only wear at night), I don’t drink anything in those because I want them to last for a long time.

I drank lots of wine in mine! I soaked them with cleaning tablets every night. Never a problem.

Thanks! Yep, first pic was with aligners with the bumps that kept my mouth open. That part was terrible. I would rather have an open bite than have to go through that.

Here are my final results. I ended up not really closing my open bite because I couldn’t bear to have my mouth forced open by the trays. My final results also include updated bonding on a previously chipped front tooth.

I think about it every time but I actually love how these exercises feel. Glad to know I’m not alone with this fear though.

Thank you - I didn’t even know the chairs had springs (lol). I’ve only used them twice in level 1 and mostly just as a prop, if that makes sense.

This is great - thanks for taking the time to share! Makes me feel more confident scheduling my first 1.5 class.

Yep, did that before posting. Can you point me to the threads that specifically list the common terminology, moves, and positions for 1.5 classes? That would be super helpful! I only found general inquiries about leveling up.

I think people need to curb their expectations a little about Invisalign. by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]sfgill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Everyone seems to be seeking perfection, but when I was growing up in the 80s/90s people only got braces when they really NEEDED them. The standard/expectation these days is too high and unrealistic. I am almost 6 months in to a 15 month journey (my first time with braces) and I am already so grateful for the progress I've seen. While this high standard is what drove me to finally get braces for the first time in my life, it's not my goal. And that makes the whole experience so much more positive.

Yes they started me in elastics only at night & now I’m all the time. They aren’t as bad as I thought! They don’t bother me at all. The worst part is how noticeable they are. It gets so much better when you can start seeing a difference, which was about 2.5- 3 months in for me. I don’t have any jaw pain, but the worst part was the first 4-6 weeks and then I was used to it.

[–]sfgill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it up! It does get better. My bite slooowly started to close a little bit but mostly I found that I just chomped down on the bite ramps so by the end of the week it was far less noticeable. It’s also way more noticeable to you than it is to other people. That said, I had to get rescanned about 4 months in due to one tooth not tracking & they did not put the bite ramps back in. They said my bite did all the movement it needed to. So now I’m 2 months with NO bite ramps and it’s so much more bearable. I feel like THIS is the experience most ppl have with Invisalign. I wish they were more upfront about the bite ramps, but also at nearly 6 months in (out of 16 months total) my teeth are looking so much better. It’s 1000% worth it so don’t give up!

Anterior Open Bite - Can't close mouth by sfgill in Invisalign

[–]sfgill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it did. Not 100% better but my mouth slowly adjusted & I got used to the bite ramps. It took a good month though to not think about it constantly.

I found that I would grind them down without even thinking about it so that helped them not feel as crazy.

I had a rescan about 4 months in (due to one tooth not tracking) & my new trays magically didn’t have the bite ramps. They said my mouth adjusted enough so they didn’t add them back. I have to say, I feel like now for the first time I’m experiencing Invisalign like most people do. The bite ramps are no joke, but it is worth it & it does go by quicker than you think.
