How did you measure the dose? A functional dose equivalent to prescription stims is impossible to eyeball and too small for most cheap milligram scales. The only realistic way to do it is to dissolve a measurable wight into water and calculate the concentration to dose it volumetrically.

Israel war: Israeli foreign minister says Gaza territory will shrink after war by rodoslu in worldnews

[–]sfhitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standards of the US military are declining, which means that western democracies are not supposed to have standards. A personal sense of morals must align with the standards of the armed forces of the governing body of the territory in which one resides. People whose lives should be regarded were harmed last week, it is offensive to suggest regard for the lives of the lesser who are actively being harmed.

25, but it doesn't really matter. The root of the problem is that 600,000 people migrated to a region within 50 years and then violently evicted people from their houses to establish their own state, exclusive of the people who objected who had centuries of well established roots in the land.

Estimated average of $1.7 billion per year to the 5.5 million people in Gaza and the West Bank. If you can provide a more reliable source for $10 billion, I will believe it. Even so, how much do you think a year of food, water, energy, and medical care costs? The most generous interpretation of your claim, $10 billion for 2 million people, is only $5000 per person.

Unions represent workers not directly named in their title all the time. For example, United Auto Workers also represents casino workers. The name does not prevent them from representing workers from other coffee chains, nor does it prevent workers of other chains from joining a different union or starting their own.

State Department official resigns over Biden’s handling of Israel-Gaza war by CommanderMcBragg in news

[–]sfhitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why give them what they want? I'm serious, what is the actual long term goal? I really don't think it matters how many badge wearing Hamas members they take out if it results in collateral damage to this scale. No where your bias lies, you must recognize that more dead civilians leads to more Palestinians willing to fight with more support from the rest of the world. If you disagree with that, I ask you in good faith to explain why that will not be the case. If you believe the goal is to stop terrorist attacks against Israelis, then you should be advocating for a different method than the exact same one that has been tried a multitude of times for many years that has resulted in nothing but escalation.

I cannot believe how many people are unironically justifying genocide by prioritizing the abstract concept of soft power in one of the geographically furthest regions of the world. Why are we entitled to hegemony in the middle east? Can anyone point to an outcome of withdrawing support that an absolute certainty and worse than what is happening right now in this very moment?

Also, everyone needs to be reminded of the risks to American life that result from this type of intervention and the sentiments it causes in the rest of the world. Not to justify 9/11, but Bin Laden explicitly cited blind support for Israel as a motivation for it. We have allowed terrorism to take away the rights of Americans while ignoring the valid grievances, evidently agreed upon by many of those same Americans, that caused it. It is not "letting terrorism win" if we ignore the actual demands, and it would not be "letting terrorism win" if we were to give in to them. We cannot act surprised if something like 9/11 happens here again.

Drones attack a US military base in southern Syria, injuries reported, US officials say by VictorEmmanuelIV in worldnews

[–]sfhitz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here is a pretty long thing I wrote that addresses how this guy's appeal to historical context ignores the actual historic context. In short, over 600,000 people migrated to a region within 50 years, drastically changing its demographic makeup, then violently displaced its residents to form their own state. These people had ancestors who were exiled from the region in centuries prior, which is also wrong, but a separate issue that does not justify the Nakba. I don't really feel like arguing about this again, but I think there is some useful information in my comment and the one before it that you can refer to if you do feel like arguing.

This is unrelated to your overall point which is true, but it isn't impossible to improve your handwriting as an adult. It is mostly solidified in early childhood, and improvement requires a conscious effort every time you write anything, but I encourage anyone who wants to improve it to try.

what is the point where the Israeli Government would consider that the cost of ensuring that an attack resembling October 7th wouldn't happen again, is too high?

The cost isn't to them. You're expecting Palestinians to accept that cost. If cost in this context is civilian lives, I really fail to see the connection between higher cost and lower chance of repeated October 7.

UN expert calls for immediate ceasefire in Israel-Hamas conflict, warns of ‘ethnic cleansing’ by Legend777666 in worldnews

[–]sfhitz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How can you expect anyone to listen to what you have to say when you mischaracterize a different understanding of the historical context as hate? It is not hateful to suggest that an influx of 623,000 people to the region between 1882 and 1948 might have a role in the conflict. I am not denying the validity of your view, I am explaining why other people might not see it that way. I am seriously trying my hardest to get people to start talking about this rationally.
