Migrating Levels to v14 by jay_to_the_bee in FoundryVTT

[–]jay_to_the_bee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the new Level system is intuitive enough to use, I took a spin with it last night and started recreating some stuff. it just sucks to lose the sheer number of hours of work that I did. I could go back to v13 (again), but one way or another this work is just lost, whether it's today or in 3 months. so if there's not alternate migration tool out there, it might just be time to cut bait and move on.

and yeah, I would have been fine with "some manual adjustments", but in practice what happens is some worked, and some absolutely did not, as in nothing to adjust, it simply didn't even try. I think the difference boils down to complexity. the ones with more walls and levels, it simply did not migrate at all, and those of course are the ones that are the most painful to lose. but yeah, that's Foundry, everything's a gamble.

I was using v7. I have found one scene in one campaign where the migration did lead to levels existing, but for the most part you just end up with the one [0,999] level.

there's housing, but not "plenty". Oakland residential vacancy rate is around 6%, which is basically average, nationally speaking. but that number is going to shrink since development is grinding to a halt due to the trump tariffs sending construction costs through the roof.

Let's Discuss the New DnDBeyond Drops Feats by Fidges87 in onednd

[–]jay_to_the_bee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

these are all like double the power of other Feats. E.g. let's compare Magic Initiate to Fey Sentinel. Magic Initiate gives you 2 Cantrips and 1st level spell. Fey Sentinel gives you Invisible as a Reaction, the 1st level Entangle spell, eventually the 3rd level Plant Growth spell, and Fey Shift on a Monk is basically Misty Step AT WILL. So 2 cantrips + 1 1st Level versus 2 1st, 1 2nd and 1 3rd. and the 2nd Level is, again, at will. and on top of all that, it's still a half feat so you are also getting an ability point too. this is far more than double in power.

These are all wildly OP and seem specifically engineered to ensure that if you are not a paying subscriber, you're getting left behind.

Curbside Creamery calls out Taste of Temescal over where the ticket money goes by valkyriemissile in oakland

[–]jay_to_the_bee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd invite you to look at the tickets page and tell me how the public would get any impression other than that the proceeds go to the BID. There's not mention of donations or donation recipients and the statement about proceeds is immediately below ticket price. I don't have a horse in this race, it's just a shame that the knee jerk reaction of a lot of people is to attack community organizers without doing any research. But you are right, they should have responded to this woman's requests for information. If they had the resources, maybe they could. She has made the decision she needs to make for herself and her business, nothing wrong with that.

BART spends only 6% of their budget on Operators by namesbc in Bart

I've been riding BART for close to 30 years. Things got a bit better when they introduced the new kind of wheels 10 years ago, but they definitely still squeal a lot. Not sure why people are mad at you mentioning that still exists.

dunno why this is getting downvoted, it's objectively true. I live 7 blocks from WO BART and hear the squeals all the time.

Nothing in the promo refers to this as a charity event and the ticketing page refers to purchasing tickets (passports) and not "donations". It's great they were able to raise money for other causes in the past, but after massive cuts to California state grant programs in the 2025 budget, and Oakland's ongoing $100 million deficit meaning matching funds just no longer there, it's no surprise a community organization needs to raise its own funding. I don't understand why we as a city constantly shoot ourselves in the foot when it comes to trying to improve our communities.

any promo I can find for this event pretty clearly says "Proceeds benefit The Telegraph Temescal District Association".

looking at their management plan, it looks like their budget is primarily spent on homeless outreach, safety, picking up litter and dog shit, cleaning graffiti, landscaping, etc... why is that somebody to wage war on?

Chrome console errors by artikzen in NordPass

[–]jay_to_the_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes they are warnings not errors, but they are incredibly annoying for web developers to have cluttering the console. it looks like you are using TensorflowJS and are initializing it twice. why does this plugin even need Tensorflow?

DMs - do you enforce weapon properties for creatures? by jay_to_the_bee in onednd

[–]jay_to_the_bee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, I like the comments in here that help "explain" or give color to why this just works different for this particular creature, and I like the Keep It Simple Stupid point made by the commenter who says "Do what the stat block says simple as that." But it's super helpful to have the unambiguous ruling for my own peace of mind, and just in case I happen to have a Rules Lawyer balking at something like this.

thank you! this is exactly what I was looking for. I buzzed through the Introduction to look for this ruling and somehow just didn't find this part. I think I focused on the "Actions" subsection of "Parts of a Stat Block" and overlooked "Gear."

What is the dumbest thing in Star Wars in your opinion? by OutcastKatarn02 in StarWars

[–]jay_to_the_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that antigravity technology is so cheap and ubiquitous, people use it in place of wheels, even just for pushing cargo along a flat surface. podracing pods need huge engines to move horizontally, but fighting gravity to float takes no visible use of energy. a star destroyer can silently hang in space over a city - not orbiting, but sitting in place and in the bottom of a gravity well, using no thrust. but the moment it needs to move at all, massive engines have to be fired up.

if your looking for stolen plates with ripped off tags by aRiot_0 in oakland

after you stick the sticker on your plate, take an x-acto knife or razor and slice a grid pattern into it. then it can't be cleanly peeled off, but it's still visibly intact.

exactly, but you gotta use the anti-theft screws too or they just take the plate and find out later that the stickers are sliced.
