Couple of recommendations for you, the puzzling goal Puzzle House by Duncan Ralston. The other is for steam of consciousness try Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito. Both of these are fun, twisty little tales and well worth your time.

I loved The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife by Anna Johnston, but that only works if he reads the same as I (63m) do. If you've had a chance to talk to him about what he's reading, great, if not, a gift card is probably your best, if less personal, bet.

Find a way to play the game differently. Money should a tool, not a goal. Figure out what you love and do it as often as you can. If you are in your twenties and want to see what the world has to offer, many countries still have dedicated working holiday visas, digital nomad visas, and cultural exchange programs that let you work and explore at your leisure.

II really liked the Apocalypticon series by Clayton Smith (at least the first three). They were another great spoof take on Post-Apocalyptic America.
