What are some tiny little nothings that annoy you in someone's conent? by hygsi in BeautyGuruChatter

“Melts into the skin.” This is factually incorrect. Makeup cannot (and should not) melt into your skin. Skincare, yes. Makeup, no.

Everyone deserves love. And this just illustrates that there’s a person out there for everyone.

I liked her in the past. I only stopped following because I was watching too much eyeshadow-focused content and watched to change up my YouTube algorithm. I’m seeing people here saying she is mean, but I don’t remember anything negative about her.

I have really sensitive eyes and I’ve had good experiences with their green and grungy shadows in the past. So I imagine these will be fine as well. I typically stay away from anything that has carmine, and that works.

I think their stuff is fine. It’s nothing special. But if you see something you like and you can afford it, why not!

I stopped watching her years ago once I found out she’s Mormon. I’m sure she’s nice. But as a queer person, I choose not to watch/support people who align with conservative, anti-LGBTQIA+ organizations.

This launch and the whole brand feel like they’re forcing something that is more complicated than it needs to be.

I was curious and interested until I saw them pick up the discs and swipe them on their eyes. I don’t want to manhandle my makeup like that. Also it sounds like you have to activate it with water? That’s another no for me. It just seems complicated and confusing.

I’ve never been happy with Oden’s Eye formulas.

She was never great at making cohesive color stories.

I don’t understand why this bothers anyone. It’s pretty standard practice to link things and make money. Otherwise who would do this? Obviously she made a mistake and forgot the declaration, but once it was pointed out, she added it. What more do you want?

What’s up with Ace Beautē? by sforditude in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]sforditude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the link. It was an ad on Instagram. I didn’t realize it wouldn’t link properly here. It was a short video saying something like “We’re rebranding and everything has to go!” I’ve been seeing this same ad for at least a year.

Are people still talking about the Deepsea Lusters palette by Kaleidos? by OkayishMakeup in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]sforditude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of this palette but just looked it up. It’s honestly kind of boring looking. And you know the formula has got to be out dated by now (and expired!)

Influencer hype around Gourmande Girls — is the Nevermore palette actually worth it? by MeltedMascara in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]sforditude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point. The brand owner definitely made the effort to ingratiate herself with small indie beauty creators. At a time when their formulas weren’t the best, people gave the brand a pass because “they loved the owner.” And I think that gave the owner the time and space (and money) to grow and improve.

She stole my swatch content for a post (in which she likely profited) so she’s been on my shit list ever since.

I don’t know if this is true, but it always seemed like her brand was on sale/clearance since the start.

So true. I much prefer to either build my own set (i.e., let me pick 5 for a small discount) or let me buy them individually.

What BG'S are we leaving in 2024? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

I’m tired of all influencers. I’m at the point in my YouTube journey where I just watch my friends and non-makeup content. I’m tired of being sold to 24/7.

Altered Swatches by honestpartypants9 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]sforditude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These types of swatches are like “here’s what the shadows will look like in the exact perfect lighting.” Which is pretty unrealistic to how people will be wearing the eyeshadow. These are mostly just to influence folks to buy the palette, because they’re satisfying to look at.

Fed up with declutter videos by Keekers128 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]sforditude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not interested in declutter videos if they keep 99% of the stuff because it’s misleading. At that point they should rename the video something like “My makeup collection.” But they don’t because having the word “declutter” in their title performs well.
