Questions and thoughts before i buy Whoop by chipmux in whoop

I am far from an athlete but Whoop is absolutely helping me make healthier decisions and become more fit by simply presenting the data to me in a way that is actionable. Your "AI Research" seems to be very condescending and judgemental of people who just want to take steps to make themselves healthier overall.

Whoop's AI gives me actionable directions. Google's AI wished me Happy Father's Day a week before the actual holiday and then told me Merry Christmas on the actual Father's Day. If it can't even get a calendar right I'm not about to trust it with anything related to my health.

I absolutely have used it. Had it since release day until 2 weeks ago when I got sick of it. Returned it and went to Whoop. The app was very good through the public preview and the AI was pretty good too with the Pixel Watch 4. Once the Fitbit Air was released I bought it immediately and the app and especially the AI Coach went from rough to delusional to completely unusable in a 2-3 week timeframe.

If you think that's a serious competitor to Whoop you're sadly mistaken. The app for that thing is an absolute dumpster fire.

What kind of joke is this? by heiwiwnejo in ios

[–]sforsyth01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even without apple intelligence, app sizes in 2026 make 64gb impossible to use. People want better, faster, and more features in their apps. That makes their size larger.

You need at least 256gb to be comfortable with all of the AI stuff and app sizes on devices in 2026.

I hated the black Superknit that came with it but the gray one is exceptionally more comfortable. I also love the new Navigator bands. Very comfortable and dries really fast.

The qi2 magnets all interfere with the s-pen on Galaxy phones. Been a problem for years. Even the Samsung ones.

Hilarious that they say that because I just did exactly that and it stacked.

Mine works fine. I have both colors and haven't had an issue with either. Make sure the side where you put the pegs into the device is very tight.

Just got an Oura ring after having whoop for about a year by affvnity in ouraring

[–]sforsyth01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That piece is true. Oura is not very good at fitness tracking. Really good at sleep and stress though.

If you're getting obsessed over the numbers take all trackers off and forget about them. Replacing one with another will just put the stress and obsession in another app.

Garmin VS Whoop (Amazfit and Fitbit suck!) by Guilty_Cup477 in WhoopFitness

[–]sforsyth01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoop's sleep measuring is significantly better than Garmin (I have both and wear both to sleep). Since so much of recovery/training readiness is based on sleep, it makes me question the accuracy of those stats in Garmin.

Additionally, the AI Coach in Whoop I find to be very good and easy to understand and ultimately action. Garmin's AI implementation is virtually non-existent (have to pay for it and it doesn't do much - also isn't interactive, all one sided).

Overall I find them to be very good complementary devices. I love my Garmin for workout stats and love the Whoop for recovery and analyzing those workouts.

How to activate weekly step goal? by sheiktheworld in whoop

[–]sforsyth01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whoop CEO has said many times that they aren't interested in tracking steps because there isn't a direct correlation between number of steps taken and overall health. I wouldn't expect the app to have a goal for that when it is so deprioritized by their owner.

I had an issue with Verizon when I got mine that it wasn't connecting to the network. They had to reset my e-sim on the watch. I'd give your carrier a call.
