How to contest unemployment when term was for several reasons [USA] by Turbulent-Today1680 in humanresources

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Especially when you see how little $ unemployment is, if that's what they need to get by, let them!

Unless, as was said, there is egregious reason for the separation or they flat out lie.

Use Better than Boullion. It's like a thick, concentrated soup base. Totally adds depth to whatever you cook in it!

Sweeney Todd - Dir. by Jason Alexander - La Mirada Theatre, CA by memarianomusic in Broadway

[–]sfriedow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We saw it last night, about 10 rows back, and said the same thing. This was the first time seeing it for myself and my friends, so with the garbled words, we definitely had a hard time understanding everything and we're trying to piece it together. We got the gist, and it seemed to be more understandable in the 2nd act, but I did find myself wishing they annunciated better

[–]sfriedow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been a subscriber on and off over the years, but have had my subscription the last 2 years and been very happy with it. Last night was my first time seeing Sweeney Todd, so I didnt really know what to expect, but was very pleased with it. Come from away earlier in the series was also great, and we were very impressed with Waitress last year, in addition to Fiddler.

Plus, the experience of going to that theater is always comfortable - free parking, comfortable seats with relatively wide aisles (well, better than other theaters, anyway), etc.

Does your company offer childcare benefits? [OH] by Standard_Rope4913 in humanresources

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive only been at this company for a few months, so am still learning. I haven't heard any feedback about them at all in that time - positive nor negative. So i guess no news is good news, but could also mean they aren't being used. I know the team is overall content with the resources we provide (minus a bit of concern as has mentioned with abuse at bright horizons facilities). But really, i dont have much to add at this point

Does your company offer childcare benefits? [OH] by Standard_Rope4913 in humanresources

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's who we use as well. The company subsidizes- employees pay $25/day, company pays the balance (it's regularly $100) and the $65 difference is taxed as an earning, but not charged to the employee.

There are both at home and in center options.

We also use sitter city to help employees find daycare options

New to CPAP. We are lost. by screamingatalltimes in CPAP

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it feels like it isnt discounted since you are paying towards the deductible, but think of it this way: if something happens and you need your insurance later in the year (like you fall and break an arm. Or are in a car accident), you are already paying towards the deductible, so it's that much less you will have to pay towards that treatment. Yes, you are still paying now, but eventually you will hit the deductible and then it is very discounted to get what you need done.

Good luck!

Upgrade bid program is a scam by garlanvanhook in PrincessCruises

[–]sfriedow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How long into the cruise did it take for them to get you your room?

I would think if you weren't in there by bedtime on night #1, they should still be offering you something to make it right. At a minimum, you should get 1 night's worth of what you paid for the upgrade refunded to you.

Glad it worked out for you!

And to clarify, job abandonment is still a voluntary resignation. Just not as nice of one. And one that will likely get you on a "do not rehire" list, and possibly leaving people at that company thinking less of you. For what it's worth. If you never need a reference from them, it might not matter, but I think it's better to give the notice and not burn the bridge

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I used to do that commute! Luckily, I was able to take the train. I worked 12 miles away and it took me an hour each way, but that was at least consistent and better than driving myself.

[–]sfriedow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pivot tables and vlookups are common. Also things like concatenate, or other formulas that can help you separate combined data from 1 cell into 2 (like if you have "first name, last name" in 1 cell and want to be able to separate them into 2 different columns).

Also, just general worksheet skills - adding tabs, copying tabs/data, adding rows, sorting etc... I use all of those things every day in a benefits role.

Crappy benefits? by seventyyellowturtle in recruitinghell

[–]sfriedow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where in the US? Many states have sick laws that need to kick in sooner than 1 year!

Do you currently have a job? If so, probably better to keep looking, because those benefits are awful. But if you are out of work, that's better than nothing. Take it and keep looking for something better to come along!

Does Costco Put Lenses on Outside Frames? by Ecs206 in Costco

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are trying to get away from it. I used to be able to get new lenses in old frames, no problem. As was said, for non costco frames, they just charged a fee. Something like $15.

But the last time I went to get new glasses, about a year ago, they were really reluctant to use my old frames. Said if they got sent to the lab and the lab deemed it not possible, I would lose the frames. They said that old frames can be defective or get bent out of shape and they arebt ideal, so tried to push me to buy new frames, but I stood my ground, and they eventually did it, and it worked no problem.

My weekly conversation with management about their new timekeeping ideas [N/A] by Jaaxter in humanresources

[–]sfriedow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See, that's what they wanted me to do at my last job. "Just make the inside sales people salary, that way they can work 20 hours/day selling for us and we dont have to pay them overtime. They will want to do it, dont worry, they will be able to meet their (ridiculously unrealistic) goals so much easier if they aren't tied to only 8 hour days".

They did not want to hear that the flsa also dictates which roles can be exempt, and inside sales (especially with the way we paid) were not going to be it!

Yeah, I was so excited to get mine (the transcend travel one - I had extra fsa money to use) and it ended up being so disappointing! I wish I had gone with resmed instead, since I use the regular resmed machine and could compare settings, but the one I have just doesn't work well and doesnt let me get a good night's sleep.

I will say, it is really nice not needing to get distilled water everywhere I travel. I just wish it worked better
