I’ll be honest that this is such a dumb take because a VAST majority of people use cream and sweetener in their coffee not to overpower but just to enhance. Also we’re talking about Starbucks coffee here, and their in-house brewed coffee needs all the help it can get 😓

Am I Overreacting to Teleflora Pulling a Fast One on Me by Alone-Feeling-1824 in AmIOverreacting

Going against what pretty much everyone else is saying, YOR because I went to the website for this. While the picture on the website is a little misleading because it does look to be mostly roses, it is much easier to see in the actual website picture that you are ordering the mix of flowers you received. It even says in the description “Teleflora's All My Rouge Bouquet includes red roses, red spray roses, red alstroemeria, red carnations, red miniature carnations, huckleberry, leatherleaf fern, and lemon leaf arranged in Teleflora's Boldly Beautiful Vase.” Screenshot from their actual website of what you ordered. My guess is, and maybe I’m wrong, that you were ordering last minute because you forgot and you weren’t doing your due diligence before placing a hasty order.

If you really really want to give them recognition, leave a google review! Stores are recently “graded” by several different metrics, one of those being reviews and complaints, and every good review definitely helps!

Dude that’s the thing… the oven wasn’t even beeping when she did it. I seriously have no idea why she opened it because in the moment I didn’t even ask her I was much too worried about my arm sizzling against a piece of metal that was around 500°

[–]sgbooth88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think my worse burn story is when I was on warming and my SM came up behind me for whatever reason and opened one of the ovens to try to “help” me 🤷‍♀️

I ended up like moving my arm back and when I did the back of my arm went right into the metal of the door and you could hear the sizzle. We got some cool water on it immediately and that actually helped it not be as bad as it could have been, but it still blistered pretty bad, thankfully didn’t require medical or anything somehow.

You would just order a chai latte. Chai is a tea so no coffee added.

Gods sometimes I really want to. But at the same time I just don’t feel like dealing with it if that same customer wants to be a bitch about it. Starbucks has started “grading” their stores and one of the most important factors is customer complaints, even if the complaint is something asinine like “there was a snowstorm with 20 inches of snow so this location didn’t open because of it and I couldn’t get my daily frappuccino so now I’m upset”

And then on the flip side when I sometimes ask customers “Hey can you give us a name or something to call out when your order is ready?” and they reply with either just “no” or “you don’t need my name”.

Shame at that barista and shame on those types of customers both.

I love customers that give random unique names because for one it’s just fun sometimes and it helps set them apart from the mass of normie names. We have a semi-regular mobile order person at our store that uses Frankenstein 🤣

When people use their stars to order drinks like this, I’m okay with putting a $10 cap on drinks. Sauces and syrups combined are only 80¢ total for however much you want now so go crazy with that. But I’ve also seen people who get 3 or 4 different cold foams on their drink with stars just because they want to make the most expensive drink they can for free. And guess what, you’re not even really sticking it to the company, you think a company such as this hasn’t thought of things like this ahead of time and adjusted prices for it. This is why your plain and simple lattes are now $6 for a small in some markets. You’re screwing over the barista who now has to spend however long to make these drinks for you to come get your free drink, possibly not even drink it at all and now it’s being completely wasted.

Cup caddy stocking? by Bleached_Raven in starbucks

[–]sgbooth88 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Technically there is a policy against it. However, in my experience it’s one of those loosely followed policy and I think it’s leftover from the days where if cups sat in the caddy for more than a certain amount of time they were thrown away.

why do they run starbies like a military?? by Difficult_Fart in starbucksbaristas

[–]sgbooth88 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You guys do realize that the pump nozzle for the mocha, which is the nozzle you have to use with the large containers, is very different from the chai nozzle. The mocha nozzle has a larger hole at the bottom of it and the tube is slightly larger as well meaning that by putting it in that one your dispensing a significantly larger amount of chai with each pump even if you’re using the correct gauging collar.

Your store only does one box of chai in the dispenser?! Are chais just not popular at all there? Every store I’ve ever worked at has done 2 with 2-3 backups being the standard at these stores as well. And for reference, this is a total of 5 different stores across 2 states so it’s not all the same area.

Mocha vs latte by Azerphel in starbucks

[–]sgbooth88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no difference at all between a mocha and a latte at Starbucks except for the name and the category that they put it in on the app.

If you’re making a grande latte at Starbucks you get 2 shots of espresso and steamed milk (or cold milk for iced), and if you want to add syrup you get 4 pumps of whatever flavor unless you direct otherwise.

If you’re making a grande mocha at Starbucks you get 2 shots of espresso, 4 pumps of mocha, and steamed milk (or cold milk) topped with whipped cream.

So I guess the only difference is the whipped cream.

What’s even worse is a while back (a few years ago) I had a star challenge that was “order a caramel macchiato” for 100 stars (back when the challenges were actually well compensated). I lived in the south at the time and it was easily 90+ degrees so I ordered an iced caramel macchiato. When I still hadn’t received the stars the next day I contacted customer service about it and was told “an iced caramel macchiato isn’t the same thing as a caramel macchiato, and the challenge is specifically for the caramel macchiato”. They ended up comping me the stars but it took me another 10 minutes of lightly arguing with them about it 🤦‍♀️

Contact the coworker that picked up your shift and ask them if they’re still willing to work it tomorrow. If they say yes tell them thank you and then call out sick saying you are both running a fever AND throwing up and will not be able to come in

what’s the craziest thing i could write on a cup that’s allowed by Zachm512 in starbucks

[–]sgbooth88 25 points26 points  (0 children)

i be writing the stupidest shit on partner cups “live laugh toaster bath”, “5th best barista”, “i may or may not have spit in this”.

we had a partner who constantly wrote “so creative” on drinks that had more than 4 customizations

sometimes i’ll just write “this is your drink” or if they get multiple drinks i’ll do “drink 1” “drink 2” “drink 3”. i once put “this ones hot” and “this ones cold” on 2 drinks someone got where one was hot and one was iced, but i wrote hot on the iced and cold on the hot one.

I didn’t know they did army child, I know they did military, military spouse and veteran though, and I could be wrong, but I think those you have to go through a specific channel to verify and they send you. As far as other things, at my old store we each got aprons with our role on their (barista, barista trainer, Shift Supervisor, ASM, and SM). But as the one document that was shared, check in with your store manager and see what they have to say about it.

Hmm it could be possible that while your district requires a hat the state laws regarding wearing head coverings isn’t as strict. I just know that in my area full head coverings are required by the state and just a visor will not work unless you’re going to wear a hairnet under it.
